The Houghton house is located off of a peaceful canal in Houghton Lake, just minutes away from the crystal clear waters of renowned Higgins Lake! It is basically a brand new home, just completed fall in 2022. We have been told it still has that "new house smell"!

This home is beautiful and just like the pictures! We will plan to stay here every time we are up at the lake. Phil was so accommodating and always answered every question we had. This is a must stay!

The house is very beautiful and clean. We had a wonderful time and felt very comfortable in this house. It is a quiet neighborhood which made it very easy to relax. As a bonus we saw deer every day that we were there. Excellent communication with the owners.

We visited with two other couples and we all LOVED the home and location. Beautiful home, comfy beds, great location, quiet neighborhood, very clean, spacious, I could go on and on. We would definitely like to visit again. Owners very prompt responding to questions.

Gorgeous & enjoyable home!

This beautiful, well-equipped home was a perfect spot for an extended weekend getaway. Well appointed with many thoughtful items included for guests to utilize. We enjoyed all of the yard games, access to the canal and lake for our boat and the fire pit just steps out the back door.

Family getaway

The Houghton House was perfect our summer getaway! Lots of space and we loved the location on the channel. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen for our family meals and had several lovely evenings on the patio with a fire. The home is very family friendlyā€¦. We appreciated the baby gates, toys and kid friendly dishes. Our group of 8 adults and 2 kiddos was super comfortable with plenty of comfy bedrooms. One of the best equipped rentals we have ever stayed in!

My sister, daughter and I had a nice little girls getaway. Everything was high end quality and i can't think of anything they missed. The whole place is beautifully decorated and also comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Surprise weekend get away

We surprised my mom with a little girls weekend get away for the 60th birthday.. this was a perfect house to chill and converse with my mom, sisters, and a few friends! The living room and kitchen are spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view! The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable providing a comfortable sleeping space for all guests! I would stay here again in the future 100%

Outstanding home and Communication!

This property spared no detail. This home is stocked with everything you will need. If you like Joanna Gaines, you will love this home! The location on the canal and huge back porch is beautiful too. We had a great family gathering here. I would highly recommend. The owner communicates promptly. Love that!

Not enough words to describe how wonderful this property is! Dealing with the property management was by far the easiest part of the whole process. Pictures donā€™t do the house and surrounding areas justice. Iā€™ve stayed in many VRBOā€™s and this was by far the best. I will definitely be going back.

Amazing Property

This is a beautiful home on the canal. The house is clean and comfortable. The hosts provide amenities that add value to your stay. Everything in the home from the dishes and cutlery to the beds are high quality. Would stay here again without hesitation or any other property run by these hosts. They communicated back immediately when I had a question, the little extras they provide to their guests were thoughtful and pleasant, overall, these hosts take pride in sharing this property and it shows.

Wonderful Family Getaway

My family had an awesome time ! They enjoyed kayaking and pedal boating. The accommodations were superb! My grandchildren loved all the games , toys, and bonus room they had all to themselves. Adults had their own space too.Loved the cleaniness and consideration of using eco friendly soaps and cleaning products.We will definitely be back again.All the outdoor entertainment was very much appreciated too!

Wedding Stay

Everything was over the top . Cupboards , drawers ,linens all stocked and labled. Everything was in like new condition. Lots of space with vaulted ceilings.Phil was great . The location and neighborhood also very nice and surprisingly private. We would highly recommend to others.

The Perfect Stay for a 60th Birthday Celebration

Our family of 11 really enjoyed the Houghton House. It was the perfect trip to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday. The yard was plenty spacious for games and we really enjoyed sitting around the fire, as it got pretty chilly in the evenings. We ended up using the kitchen for every meal during our week stay and it was nearly stocked with everything we needed! I would recommend more kitchen towels and maybe some dish rags/sponges/brushes. Other than that, everything else was perfect!

We rented this house to spend time with our children and grandchildren. The house was clean, perfect to accommodate all ages,spacious on an end lot. The view is peaceful and great for fishing right off the dock. The owners provide kayaks, paddle boat, and indoor and outdoor games. We loved our time here creating memories, and would return. We had such a wonderful time at the Houghton house. We are a family of four with two young children, a three-year-old and one-year-old. The house was stopped wonderfully as well. We had everything we needed and some. They provided a ton of extra sand, toys, towels, and other items. Overall, we had a very great experience and I would recommend the whole house to any of our friends!
