We really enjoyed our stay. Being able to walk down to the lake at any time was a big plus. The house was very comfortable and clean. Would recommend!

My family loved our week in The Grey House! The house itself is immaculate, and the decor is gorgeous! The house is roomy and had plenty of room for the seven of us to spread out. The temperature was in the 90s when we were there, and each room was cool and comfy for our whole stay. We enjoyed swimming in the lake and boating, too. Linda and John were kind, generous hosts who were great with communication and extremely personable. Overall, all A rental!

We had a great stay. The house is very clean and its a great place to relax. John is also a great host.

The owners were very accommodating and always available to answer questions. The property is well maintained and extremely clean. We found out that the resident dog Clutch was extremely friendly and loved to play ball (fetch). A word of warning Clutch also likes hotdogs so put an extra on the grill! The only downside to the property is that it is on the major road and has road noise which the owners cannot control. We enjoyed the lake toys and they were in exceptional shape (some brand new!). The lake view is really great particularly from the dam at sunset. The outdoor Blackstone grill was fun and extremely handy for cooking breakfast and dinner for a large family. The firepit was also of top quality and great for family talks and smores cooking after dark... The Host were the best we have had after many years of VRBO renting. Their history of the area is worth hearing about as they were truly some of the original people in this area of Maine.

It was a joy to host all of you. The house was left in tip top shape. So happy that you chose The Grey House for family vacation. The road noise is something we hope to minimize by next summer, by adding a fence closer to the road and some trees. That last week of your stay was even busier than usual with it being the week of Acton Fair. We would love to host you again!! Linda

Gray house

Gorgeous house, beautiful lake and the best hosts you could ask for. Our family had a wonderful time here and would love to stay again one day.

Sorry you couldn't use the televisions. There a 5. So it must have been an internet glitch. If I had known, we would have addressed that problem and made it right. None of our previous guests have had trouble. We will ask our current guests if they too are having problems. We appreciate your mentioning it.

Amazing place! It was comfortable, relaxing, and fit our crew of six. We sat outside at the firepit, the pergola and on the dock. John and Clutch were wonderful hosts! The pontoon ride on Mousam Lake was wonderful. Convienent to all of our outings. Definitely planning on visiting again!

Long weekend in Shapleigh

Great location with access to Mousam lake. No lake view but a wonderful dock and great property with covered patio, fire pit and all the amenities. Really well done interior with comfortable accommodations. Had a great time and definitely recommend!

Amazing home!

Our family stayed in this house because we had a wedding locally it was absolutely beautiful and clean. Plenty of space for everybody comfortably. The owners were absolutely fantastic to work with and when my family was leaving they were all asking when they could rent it again!!!! Book here you’ll be happy to did!

Great Autumn Stay

Our hosts ( John, Linda and Clutch) couldn’t have been kinder! House was great, well appointed. Lakeside with the fall leaves couldn’t have been prettier. Wish we had had the time to use the fire pit, did get to cook out on the blackstone grill. This place was a true gem!

Family and friends vacation

Our stay was great! There was kids from 9months-13 years old and four adults. Close to a beach within minutes. Grocery store 5 minutes away! Ocean is less than an hour. Loved the club house! Great place to fish for the kids! John and clutch were great greeters! Felt right at home! Would definitely book here again!

Family vacation!

We loved our stay at the Gray House! The kiddos loved the lake and dock, throwing rocks in the water was sooo cool! :) they range from 2-5. John was very helpful, and our kids loved chatting with him and his dog! The “play house” outside was a popular hang out for the kids. We absolutely loved the blackstone grill and used it every night! The house was amazingly stocked and very comfy! We would absolutely stay again!

Highly responsive hosts and CLEAN!

John and Linda's property is perfect for family gatherings with easy access to the lake and local beaches. John and Linda were attentive to every detail and very accommodating to ensure we had everything we needed- including a crockpot, blender and mixer! The Blackstone grill was my favorite (-: We would definitely stay here again. All amenities and appliances are in good working order and everything is very Clean! Thank you for going the extra mile.

Marvellous house, beautiful lake

Spacious, clean, bright, cozy. Wonderful hosts, Linda, John, and Clutch the mostly labrador social director. Every member of the family ... sixteen of us, were able to meet there one night for a big reunion. Only eight of us slept in the house but the other eight joined us downstairs for grilling outside, supper in the kitchen, games on the TV, and lots and lots of talking and walking to the lake. The house is wonderful, the sunsets at the lake beautiful.

Great spot at serene Mousam Lake!

We had a great week at Mousam Lake. The house was super clean and decorated just perfectly. Our host Linda was so warm and welcoming answering all our questions, providing us with local recommendations and checking in to be sure we were set. There is a short walk to the dock/lake. It was manageable for our group that included kids and teens. We would recommend renting a boat if able as swimming at the sand bars is the best part on the lake. The house had plenty of room for the 8 of us. We enjoyed the fire pit and patio and kids enjoyed the small club house out back as well. Would definitely book here again.

I felt at home

Upon our very first arrival, I felt at home. My wife and I stayed month to go see our son's soccer games at UNE in Biddeford. The house is amazing appointed and was very comfortable. We had guests every weekend and we enjoys everything that Maine has to offer. We took walks down by the lake, we toured our favorite seaside towns, we went to the Fryeburg Fair and even took a long drive up to Rangeley to do some Leaf Peeping! Our hosts John, Linda and Clutch are warm and friendly and are amazing people to get to know. There is so much love and charm in the home and is a wonderful place to visit. I am back only a day and I miss my new friends, my small town way of living and best dog in town. Thanks John for everything. Your warmth and hospitality is appreciated. We'll be seeing you again!
