House of Hers | An Artful Seattle Hideaway
A little romance, a little whimsy, and a whole lot of character.
Wrap your arms around someone you love and settle into House of Hers, a colorful, art-filled retreat in Seattle’s eclectic Beacon Hill neighborhood.
With soaring 14-foot ceilings, dramatic arches, hand-painted murals, vintage furnishings, jewel-toned walls, and a playful pink kitchen beneath a shimmering gold ceiling, this isn’t your ordinary vacation rental.
Curl up on the cozy chenille sofa, settle into the velvet rocking chair, put on a vintage record, or enjoy a movie together. Just two blocks from Jefferson Park, with cafés, restaurants, bike paths, and public transportation nearby, you’re perfectly situated to explore Seattle or simply enjoy a memorable getaway.
THE SPACE
House of Hers is a private, basement-level apartment within our three-story Seattle home. We live above the rental, but guests enjoy their own entrance, living space, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry.
Living Room: Soaring ceilings and architectural arches create an inviting, spacious atmosphere. Deep blue and magenta walls, original artwork, vintage pieces, and warm lighting give the room its distinctive character. Relax on the chenille sofa or velvet rocking chair, enjoy the Victrola record player and vintage records, or watch the flat-screen television with Apple TV.
Kitchen: Blush-pink cabinetry, original warm-toned tile, and a shimmering gold ceiling make even breakfast feel a little more interesting. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, sharp knives, spices, coffee, tea, sweeteners, and a water-filter pitcher in the refrigerator.
Main Bedroom: A private room with a queen-size bed, closet, fresh linens, down comforter, down-alternative pillows, and extra blankets. The bedroom has a door for privacy but does not have an exterior window.
Sleeping Loft: Above the kitchen, an open loft offers a second queen mattress, comfortable bedding, and a small window. Ceiling height is approximately 4 feet 6 inches, so most adults cannot stand upright. The loft is open to the living area and does not provide the privacy of an enclosed bedroom.
Bathroom & Laundry: A private bathroom with colorful blue tile, fresh white towels, bathing essentials, and cleaning supplies. Guests also have their own laundry facilities.
Air Conditioning: Central air conditioning serves the main living area and is controlled from the main house. An additional portable air-conditioning unit is provided for comfort.
Outdoor Deck: Guests are welcome to enjoy our spacious shared deck, furnished with comfortable seating, an umbrella, and a chiminea. The deck is shared with the homeowners, with plenty of room for everyone. We appreciate advance communication if either guests or homeowners plan a private gathering.
Views & Privacy: The apartment faces the deck and landscaping, which rises approximately six feet above deck level. This provides a sense of privacy, although the apartment itself does not have a city or skyline view.
Dogs & Children: Dogs are welcome! Due to the unconventional loft design and other features, the apartment is not suitable for children under nine.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Beacon Hill is a diverse, welcoming Seattle neighborhood where older homes, renovated properties, longtime residents, and young families come together.
We love its relatively quiet streets, convenient parking, neighborhood restaurants, coffee shops, and LGBTQ-friendly, family-friendly, and pet-friendly atmosphere.
The area is gradually evolving as older homes are restored and updated. It’s primarily residential, with fewer retail shops than some Seattle neighborhoods, but offers wonderful local dining and easy access to the city.
Our home is located at the corner of Hinds Street and Hinds Place, a quieter, alley-like street leading toward an apartment complex and Columbus Avenue. Beacon Avenue is approximately three to four blocks away.
Jefferson Park — Two Blocks Away
One of our favorite places in Seattle! Jefferson Park offers tennis courts, a golf course, driving range, playground, walking paths, open green space, and beautiful views of downtown Seattle and Puget Sound.
Grab a coffee from Victrola, take your dog for a walk, or enjoy a spectacular sunset overlooking the city.
Beacon Avenue — Three to Four Blocks
Stroll to neighborhood coffee shops, restaurants, and local businesses. Victrola Coffee is a favorite stop before exploring the park or neighborhood.
Columbia City — Approximately Five Minutes by Car
Explore independent shops, restaurants, and live music at The Royal Room, known for jazz and other performances. PCC Community Markets is also located here.
Georgetown — Approximately Five Minutes by Car
Discover a neighborhood full of industrial character, breweries, pubs, restaurants, art, and creative businesses.
Downtown Seattle & Stadiums
Downtown is approximately 8–15 minutes by car, depending on traffic. T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field are accessible by public transit, or approximately a 35-minute walk depending on your route.
Groceries
A neighborhood grocery store is approximately eight minutes away on foot or three minutes by car. PCC Community Markets in Columbia City offers another convenient option.
GETTING AROUND
Walking: Jefferson Park is two blocks away, with Beacon Avenue’s cafés and restaurants approximately three to four blocks from the apartment.
Bicycling: Bike paths are right outside our front door. Bring your bicycle or inquire about renting our electric bikes to explore Seattle.
Public Transit: Bus and light-rail connections provide access to downtown, the stadiums, the airport, and surrounding neighborhoods. Travel times vary by route and time of day.
Driving: Downtown is approximately 8–15 minutes away, while Columbia City and Georgetown are approximately five minutes away, depending on traffic.
Parking: Street parking is generally convenient in our residential neighborhood.
