Ouray Penthouse Suite New & Quiet Best 360 Views! Pristine Clean Private Garage

This gorgeous penthouse suite 1000 sq ft + is located on the top third floor of the Ouray Alchemist building in the heart of town. Bi-directional pleated shades offer the excellent combination of breathtaking 360 degree surrounding mountain views with just the right amount of privacy desired. It is the perfect romantic haven for enjoying the numerous activities in the adventurous Ouray area.

There is a 400 sq ft deck that gives you private views of the Chief Ouray Mine, Cascade Falls, the Amphitheater and Twin Peaks. In addition there is a small breakfast balcony facing Main Street with a giant Douglas fir just to the south providing shade and privacy to those who want to see what is going on around town.

The Ouray Alchemist is a long-time project for Curtis and Nancy. Curt has been collecting pharmacy artifacts for many years. The commercial space features a historical collection of pharmacy memorabilia dating back to 350 BC. The collection is a tribute to the history of pharmacy, containing many hand-blown label-under-glass bottles with the original drugs (herbs and roots) with an emphasis toward Colorado pharmacy history (such as the oldest written prescription in Colorado). It is a memorable tribute to pharmacy worth seeing during your stay. Pharmacists Curt and Nancy will do the best to make your visit well worth it. The Ouray Alchemist, what we call our retail area and museum, has been featured on the cover of Bottles and Extras. We also have an article written about us in GV Magazine. This stands for Grand Valley and is mainly distributed around the Grand Junction area. Grand Junction is just a two hour drive from Ouray.

The Ouray Alchemist building is unique to the Ouray area. It was newly built/completed in 2011. Enjoy the whimsical finial portraying the sun, moon and stars. The gargoyles positioned on the four corners of the copper-domed tower by tradition offer "protection and happiness" to those who enjoy this incredible suite. Maximum of two adults. No children. Not available to rent to throw parties/ have events.

This property is in the absolute perfect setting in the middle of downtown Ouray! Miss Nancy was an amazing host and the Suite was absolutely beautiful! I almost hate to put all the glowing things about this Penthouse because I'd love to keep it my secret....but it is absolutely a perfect place! The facility was immaculately clean. It had every item of comfort and use you could imagine, the bed was comfortable and she had extra everything to ensure our comfort! The setting was a dream and having the garage to park in was unheard of which made this stay above "excellent" in every way!

Amazing! Loved our stay here and Nancy was so gracious. She has thought of everything you may need during your stay. We have never experienced a rental with such thoughtfulness to comfort! This suite has all the comforts of home, and it was clean, comfortable, spacious, and beautiful. The views are stunning! It was lovely to have a cup of coffee while watching the hummingbirds on the patio in the back and people-watching from the veranda overlooking Main Street in the front. This was my first experience with renting a room like this. I would highly recommend it over a hotel room. Thank you Nancy for your warm hospitality and for sharing your home with us.

The Best Secret in Ouray

Our hosts spoiled us on the amenities that were thought of to have to use around the apt. Every appliance worked well. Very clean and not overcrowded with items. The air conditioner in great working order. The windows were spotless and there were a lot! The outdoor front balcony was a plus to see the beautiful views. So many other amenities we didn’t get a chance to use. So relaxed and comfy, we hardly left the apt. The hosts gave us the use of their garage for our rental car. It was perfect for what we were looking for and can’t wait to go back and stay at the Alchemist and see Nancy & Curtis.

Ouray vacation time

Host Nancy was so nice, considerate and professional. She provided me with a personal tour and explained where everything was located and how the equipment worked. Nancy had me call her when I arrived and met me at the garage to introduce herself and to welcome me. My stay was perfect with a beautiful view of box canyon from the kitchen, dining and living room and from the bedroom. Two decks. One in front over looking Main Street, mountains and downtown Ouray and one in back viewing the water fall and beautiful mountains.

Our stay at the Penthouse suite was nothing short of amazing. Perfect views and all the amenities you could ever want or need. From the front deck and through the front windows you can see Canyon falls and from the rear deck and bedroom, you can see Cascade falls. This Penthouse is in the center of town and easily in walking distance from all the restaurants and taverns. The owners were amazing and recommended a few places for us to try. All were perfect. I would highly recommend this Suite to anyone wanting a perfect vacation.

This is our 2nd time staying here and has now become our favorite. The place is so clean, furnished amazingly & Nancy & Curt are phenomenal hosts. Very personable, quick to communicate and so accommodating. Made our stay wonderful. The penthouse is in an excellent location. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful Stay

We had a wonderful time in Ouray, CO to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and staying here was the icing on top. I would highly recommend this penthouse and we would definitely stay here again. The location is extremely convenient as it is right off the Main strip, and the views are unbelievably beautiful. The home was clean, safe, and had everything we needed (tissues, different pillow options, extra blanket). The host was very amiable and kind to meet us at the very beginning and to give us the 'lay of the land'. We wish we were still in Ouray!

Awesome Views

The hosts Nancy and Kurt went out of their way to make our stay extraordinary. She printed out hiking trails for us and there were numerous personal touches including extra kitchen and toiletry supplies. The house was very spacious and comfortable with a great in town location. My favorite part were the amazing views of the spectacular canyon. Thank you.

Everything was very clean, high-end and spacious enough for a couple to relax and enjoy beautiful views. Being right on Main Street was super convenient and having garage parking was a bonus. Highly recommend this jewel to make anyone’s stay in Ouray even better.

One of our best stays EVER!

This rental has was everything we hoped for and more! Nancy was a gracious host greeting us with a tour and tips on how to best use and care for the space. The location was ideal, within walking distance to restaurants, the grocery store, coffee shops, a hot spring pool and the perimeter hiking trail. Our absolute favorite features were the two porch areas. One provided a fantastic view down Main Street and the other gave us a private area to relax, eat and watch the stars. We will absolutely return!

Very clean great views

The place was very clean and neat. Maybe the cleanest rental we’ve stayed at. Nancy met us outside and helped us to get parked in the garage. Then gave us a tour and left us alone after that. Could sit out back and take in the mountain views or out front and people watch and more mountain views. Was well stocked and quite comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Ouray

This is our 2nd time at this property. It is wonderful and Curt and Nancy are gracious hosts. The view of the San Juan mountains out the windows of the apartment are breathtaking and Nancy’s attention to the little details to make our stay wonderful. Love the Place!

Originally from the Midwest Curt and Nancy took different paths to Colorado before meeting in 2002 at Aspen Drug in Aspen CO. Pursuing his long-term dream of having a historic pharmacy collection exhibit led Curt to purchase fixtures to restore from Aspen Drug which was closing. Since all fixtures were for sale, Nancy having worked there over eleven years, was thrown in the deal...well, not really, but it makes a good story. We share a common passion for the history of pharmacy so it made sense that we would get better acquainted as time went by, marrying in 2006. Still married.

Ouray is called the Little Switzerland of America because of its unique dramatic alpine beauty. Surrounded by mountains it is the gem of the Rockies. We have never been to a more beautiful place. Curt was already living in Ouray when he met Nancy. There are outdoor activities here and nearby for every season. Skiing is close in Telluride and Silverton as well as Purgatory near Durango. Skiing is one of Nancy's passions. Ouray has inspired us to build this building and live out our dream. On the first floor is our commercial business that we call the Ouray Alchemist. Designed after an 1890's pharmacy with hickory hardwood floors and a tin ceiling, we feature antiques, jewelry, art, minerals, collectible currency and candy. The historic pharmacy museum behind the 1888 fully restored wall fixture is receiving rave reviews. With time there will be other fun things to come, like an old-fashioned soda fountain. Curt gives guided tours at 10 am and 1 pm on most days.

This clean comfortable and cozy suite in the heart of town is furnished with modern amenities intermingled with beautiful antiques and art. Make yourself at home! There is not a better view of the mountains anywhere else. Despite being right in the thick of things the large curved windows with the adjustable up or down shades, the large deck and separate balcony give optimum privacy. Snuggle up and sleep with a view of the moon coming up over the Amphitheater.
