**Fully renovated spacious 6 BR/3 bath 400+ year old farmhouse in calm riverside enclave in Espelette’s old section with mountain & village views!
Downstairs is a spacious kitchen, 2 living rooms each with a fireplace, a shower, WC and laundry. Upstairs are 6 bedrooms (3-160cm beds, 3-140cm beds, 2-80cm beds/160cm bed), 2 full bathrooms and work area.
Outside find a private heated salt water pool, WC & shower, kitchen with plancha and dining table, umbrellas, lounge chairs.
Fully renovated in 2022 our over 400 year old farmhouse is 240 square meters with a full kitchen, 2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The house is in the oldest section of Espelette with views of both the mountains and the village. There are original wood beams and the thick walls throughout. For your enjoyment outside there is a heated salt water pool, private terrace, shower, WC, plancha and dining tables. The pool and patio are for the exclusive use of this house with privacy fencing.
The spacious downstairs has a large fully equipped kitchen with a table for 12. There is an extended counter that can be used as a second work space. In the main part, there are 2 living rooms – one is a TV room with a fireplace and the other larger living room has another fireplace where you can relax in the winter, another dining area and a reading nook. There is also a laundry room with a large washer, dryer and a shower as well as a separate WC.
There are 2 staircases to upstairs – one from the kitchen and one from the TV room.
Upstairs you will find 6 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.
-- Walking upstairs from the TV room, you will find two bedrooms both with 160 cm beds that have balconies. From them you can enjoy views of the Arronomendi mountains and the Espelette village. On this side of upstairs there is another bedroom with a 160 cm bed as well as a full shower room with toilet.
-- Walking upstairs from the kitchen staircase, there are two bedrooms (one with a 160 cm bed and one with 2 140 cm beds) and a full bathroom with toilet. On the landing, there is an office space with a single day bed.
-- Connecting the two sides of upstairs, is a bedroom with a 140 cm bed that can be accessed from either staircase.

Outside there is a private heated salt water pool (8 meters by 4 meters) with a private terrace that has plenty of space and lounge chairs to relax after a day sightseeing. There is privacy fencing around the pool area and driveway. The pool typically open from mid-April through October.
The outdoor kitchen has a plancha, cooking space and two dining tables to enjoy lunch or dinner in the shade of the house or balcony. For added convenience, there is also an outdoor shower and WC.
Towels are provided: 1 bath towel, hand towel and washcloth per person, 1 bathmat per bathroom and and 2 kitchen towels
BED LINENS ARE AN ADDITIONAL OPTION. Linen option is per person 10€ includes bedsheets, Paid upon arrival if option is chosen.
PRIVATE PARKING for 3 cars is available on the driveway in front of the house. Guest will have entire fully independent home and pool.
There are other independent guest houses in the enclave. They do not have access to the pool.
Other things to note Espelette is centrally located as a base for exploring Basque Country. Cambo Les Bains with famous spas and Arnaga the house of Edmond Rostand (the author of Cyrano de Bergerac) is 10 minutes in one direction. In another direction, Dantxaria, Spain, with discount shopping is just 10 minutes. Or you can enjoy the beaches and towns of Biarritz, Anglet and St Jean de Luz which are just 30 minutes away. The gourmet capital of San Sebastian, Spain is an hour away. There are many wonderful windy country roads where you pass wild horses called Pottoka, lots of sheep and cows and of course, growing piment d’Espelette!

We started out by renting out our second bedroom in the NYC apartment we shared.
We currently have 2 vacation rental homes in the Hamptons and an enclave with 4 properties and another house in France’s Basque Country.
Joop grew up in Holland but moved to London and then Biarritz France before settling in the US 20 years ago. Sharon grew up on Long Island and lived in NYC for 25 years before moving to more natural environments.
Sharon has a psychology and anthropology degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Creative Studies from the State University of New York. Joop has a degree in life experience with decades of worldwide adventures. We both believe in having fun and interesting things will follow.
