We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially after being constantly on the go for the first part of our vacation - it was so nice to just relax and appreciate this lovely home. The views are spectacular and we loved seeing the constellations and the sunrise from the bedroom skylights and windows! The house is spotlessly clean, has everything you need, is very comfortable and filled with light. Mont responded quickly to emails and texts before and during our stay and provided lots of useful information about how things worked in the house and things to do in the area, which we really appreciated.

Lovely home with amazing views near to great beaches. Well stocked.Everything was labeled and detailed instructions were provided. Unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay but we enjoyed ourselves never the less. Would love to come back when we can use the decks and outside space. Host was very responsive to all our questions.

The house is located in a beautiful part of Nova Scotia, surrounded by trees and ocean all around. Its also very close to a couple of beautiful beaches.The views from the house are breathtaking and the place has all the equipment and supplies that you could possibly need, all neatly organized and labelled to make it easy to find.We had a great time and would certainly like to visit again.

The house is on a rise with great views from all the windows. It is beautifully furnished and well-maintained and has a great kitchen with everything you might need for short or extended stays. The host responded quickly to emails and texts and provided lots of useful information about how things worked in the house and things to do in the area, which we really appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Amazing Views

My family and I spent a long weekend here. The house had plenty of space and the views were amazing! We enjoyed the quiet and the chance to see stars. There was plenty to do in the area when we wanted to get out. We will definitely be staying again.

Island getaway with fantastic views

The 360 degree views are worth the price of admission. We stayed in July ‘22 with the full extended family. The property came as advertised. The owner was attentive and responsive and provides a thorough welcome package.

If you want privacy and scenery you have this here. The property is spectacular. Everything you need is here. The host is just a phone call away if you need him and he is very helpful.

Beautiful, light filled home with views of tree tops and ocean inlets from every angle. Well equipped kitchen - very organized!Fantastic deck for sitting outside with coffee in the morning or a wind down drink in the evening.We loved being able to see the stars and sky from bed with the sky light and the daily visits from the deer on the island.The only thing I would suggest is perhaps some blinds on the upstairs bathroom and maybe a propane BBQ rather than charcoal (couldn't BBQ due to fire ban). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return!

I'm glad Rhona enjoyed her stay. We actually recently bought blinds, but with multiple projects going on, haven't had a chance to put them up, but will soon. We will also be looking into a propane barbecue…

Breathtaking views

This place was so lovely, 2 nights was not enough time for us. The house was beauiful with the natural light in every room, kitchen well stocked, lots of counterspace, great for cooking and entertaining. Woodstove kept it warm and cozy. Would love to go back. It was so fun driving on Crescant Beach, brought back some lovely childhood memories. What a beautiful beach and so close by.

Skyview stay

The Skyview house was a large and well cared for home on an island hill that overlooked the area with its views above the tree tops. All amenities advertised were there and we found the house to be very well stocked making it much easier to cook without trips to a store for needed basics (not an easy task due to the location of the house on the island) Enjoyed our time there and appreciate the effort the family has made to make a stay comfortable for all.

We are glad our guests enjoyed their stay. For food shopping, there is a convenience store 10 minutes away, and several large supermarkets a half hour away.

Action packed week at Skyview, LaHave Islands

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 child) had a fantastic stay at Skyview House. The house is spacious and well appointed for a family getaway. I highly recommend the house and the location. Mont, the owner, was a great resource for local information. The house comes with a very useful booklet of information that eliminates any questions one may have. We swam at Crescent Beach, hiked at Hirtle’s beach and Gaff point, sea kayaked around the islands, surfed at Lawrencetown, and had a great dinner at the Osprey’s Nest. The Ploughman and the LaHave bakery are great spots for lunch. Any groceries are easily accessible in Bridgewater or the Petite Rivière General Store. Great family time for a short visit to the East Coast. Thanks, Mont! We hope to be back!

Anne and her family were a pleasure to have stay at our home. Her communication before and during her stay were was clear, responsive and friendly. I met her and her family personally and they were wonderful people whom I completely trusted would take care of our home while they were there. Indeed, they left the house in great condition and we would welcome them back anytime. I wish all guests could work out so well!

Hilltop home away from home

Fantastic home with great views - 360 degrees . Very clean , open concept with an absolutely grand cozy master bedroom. Other very spacious great bedrooms . A den which wants you just to curl up and relax . Everything you need is in the kitchen . Very spacious patios . When you walk into the home you are welcomed by an absolutely stunning two story atrium . The house is bright from multiple windows giving such lovely natural light .Stunning sunrise and was told sunsets are fantastic as well but the clouds were out while visiting . Beautiful wood stove in the middle of the main floor . There are only good things to say about this place . The host is very helpful , accessible and caring . You will not be disappointed going to this home !

Heaven in Nova Scotia

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful property for 2 weeks in late April 2024. Our goal was to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. The weather was fantastic, don't be afraid to visit in April, the days were sunny and cool, and when it rained the house was a sanctuary, with a wood stove and 360 degree windows to enjoy the view of the ocean, sunset and sunrise unobstructed by other properties. Perfect to read, play games and cook. Our host Mont, was so helpful, always available to answer any questions. The house was fully equipped with anything you would need to cook. Lots of books, laundry, heating if needed, everything was spotlessly clean, lots of towels, bedding, beds are very comfortable. In addition, the wireless was perfect, and during playoffs my partner took over the tv room to enjoy. We brought our Firestick, worked perfectly. You can easily work from here and end the day with a walk on Crescent Beach. Every morning at sunrise a herd of deer would stop by to nibble on the grass, so special. We will definitely be back, it felt like a home. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

A stunning location with outstanding views from every room

I think the best way to describe our visit is outline the very good/excellent, the good and could use improvement. The very good/excellent pertains to the unique location with outstanding views from every window. It is worthwhile staying here just for this reason alone. The other very good issue is the availability of a lovely wood burning stove with an unlimited supply of wood. Also excellent were the great walks from the property along a quiet road, past fishing huts, small inlets with deer roaming freely around the island. You can walk to Risser’s Park (round trip approximately 17km). The good included an excellent gas oven and a new large clean fridge. The kitchen was really well stocked with any pot, pan, dish or item you could possibly want. The availability of laundry facilities was also an added bonus. There is a table tennis table which we didn’t have time to use. We didn’t have too many issues under the could use improvement area, but I found the rather extensive rules, do’s and don’ts made me feel very awkward and a little uncomfortable the entire time. I think Mont would be better off providing the house rules but perhaps eliminate the numerous examples. In addition he could just ask people to keep the oven top clean and to please use coasters on the various tables. The bathrooms were functional but dated. Our bed sheets looked crumpled and we weren’t sure if they had been washed. The cleanliness of the floor on arrival could have been better.

We are glad that Sarah enjoyed our home, complementing its unique location at the top of LaHave Island, numerous views of the ocean, our comfy woodstove, new gas oven and new fridge, well-stocked kitchen, washer, dryer, and ping-pong table. We’ve been renting our summer home for 10 years and have a 9.8 out of 10 rating. But we are sorry that she felt unease about some of the information we provided. We offer info about the house which is not meant as rules, but is shared to better prepare our guests for what they can expect and what they may need to bring. We have also had some bad experiences with select renters who have treated our home as a party house, and so we do let our guests know to be aware of certain things. For example, one group of renters badly burned an area on one of our decks after they were careless with our charcoal grill. So we now ask people to use the grill on the driveway, just off the front deck. We mention this as an example of something to be careful with. The vast majority of our guests treat our home with care, and by using common sense, should not need to be concerned about anything going wrong. Regarding Sarah’s comment about our bedsheets, we will check to see if these particular king sheets need to be updated. People regularly comment on the cleanliness of our house, but we will mention to our housekeeper Sarah’s comment about the floors.

Fall Weekend get-away

Had a lovely stay at the Island House Above Trees! Everything was well in order and as advertised. LaHave Island and area is very scenic and lovely for walks. 2 nights is not long enough however!

Wonderful Nova Scotia experience

This unique house is situated on the highest point on historic LaHave Island, just off the south coast of Nova Scotia. It is spacious, well appointed and has marvelous views over the treetops, of the waterways surrounding the island. We stayed there at the end of June, and the morning mists, which usually burned off, created a magical atmosphere. A 5 minute drive took us to fabulous Crescent Beach, a broad white sand beach stretching for 3 miles, which rivals anything on the Eastern seaboard of the U.S. Our host Mont was very pleasant to deal with, and provided an extensive useful information package about the house and the area, which helped us to settle in. He was very responsive to our needs. There was no problem with our Border Collie staying with us. Altogether we'd highly recommend Skyview for a vacation retreat in this scenic and unspoiled corner of Nova Scotia.

Weekend with friends at Skyview

The property is lovely - water views out of every window. The layout is perfect for a group with open concept, a cozy woodstove and two story windows overlooking the ocean. Great location to walk to Crescent beach and spend some time in LaHave at the artisan shops. We highly recommend the home.

Spectacular vistas from beautiful LaHave Island house

We enjoyed this beautiful house full of skylights perched on the highest point of Bell island with spectacular views in every direction. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and accompanying documents that he provided on the house facilities and nearby attractions were very informative. We enjoyed cycling to nearby Crescent beach, the local island church and museum and we walked the trail at Rissers Beach. The property is a short drive to the LaHave bakery and nearby galleries. We also parked our vehicle and took our bikes across the LaHave ferry to Riverport and Kingsburg where we enjoyed Hirtles beach and the Gaff Point Trail. We also enjoyed our visit to the Maritime Painted Saltbox Gallery and Mariner Crafts in Petite Rivière. I would definitely recommend this location for the artist and outdoor enthusiast because there is so much to do and see! Next time we would definitely go sea kayaking as it is the perfect way to explore the islands. We would highly recommend this house and its location for those that want to experience all that this picturesque area of Nova Scotia has to offer.
