This is a single lot private camp and has its own dock leading to 10 lakes. Called Martiny Chain Of Lakes. Nicknamed Michigan's Everglades. This place is packed full of wildlife and game , fishing and hunting , hiking and more. Bring your boat. Fish cleaning station on site.

Sweet Property on the Channel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dion's property. The water access was absolutely awesome! Thank you, we hope to come back and spend more time fishing!

Great hospitality

Dion was extremely helpful during our stay. We appreciated the impromptu pontoon tour and the “loan” of firewood. We’ll definitely check it out again. Take your fishing gear.

Incredible host

Couldn’t have asked for a more friendly host and a clean property. I think having a boat would have made things a little more fun. The kayaks were great but have to dodge pontoon boats. This area is very rural and not “upscale” to choose words carefully. Lots of great folks as well.

Perfect Fall Weekend Getaway

Our family getaway to Russell’s Roost truly could not have been a better experience. The camper was clean and had all that we needed. The host went out of his way to personally escort us to the boat launch, get kayaks ready for the kids to use, and set out outdoor yard games for our family. He even sold us wood onsite and helped us put the bed down in the camper (we were first time camper users!). Fantastic experience, we look forward to booking again next summer!

If you like to camp...

If you like to camp this could be for you. An older well-loved camper. I recommend bringing your own pillows. We brought our own water for drinking and making coffee due to hard water. The only complaint we had was the sewer smell in the bathroom. The owner was very pleasant and although we had the option to use kayaks we didn't have the time.

Fun Family Camping Trip

We had a GREAT family weekend! This is a cute little camper on private property with a large lot and your own personal fishing dock. LOTS of fish to catch on the channel in your backyard. Owners are great neighbors, very accomodating and provided wonderful local recommendations of things to do. There are kayaks on the property for your use. Camper was clean and comfy with cold AC and all supplies included. Slept our family of 6 comfortably. Nice firepit and gas grill, too. We can't wait to visit again. If you're looking for a place to camp without the fuss of hauling packing, unpacking, and setting up, you've found it... Stay at Russell's Roost.

Wholesome Michigan Hospitality

I honestly cannot complain about a single thing with our visit. The owner is awesome and knowledgeable with local businesses and places to explore and stay busy. The property is beautiful, with a private dock you can sit, relax by the water and drink a beer while reeling in tons of fish. The camper is very well taken care of and was immaculately clean upon arrival. AC, Wifi, shower, bathroom, stove, grill all work as they should. (Heads up, it gets chilly at night up there so make sure you don’t forget to set thermostat like I did. 100% my fault.) We were lucky enough to get to go for a trip around the lakes on the owners pontoon with his father (Awesome military vet) giving us the tour with tons of local knowledge and stories. I 100% recommend this for a relaxing couples getaway, we will be booking our next trip soon!

Cozy camping at Russells Roost

Dion and Rod are great hosts! They're very attentive and quick to help with any questions we had. They even gave us produce from their garden. They helped with getting the kids set out on kayaks, we were able to buy overflowing wheelbarrows full of good campfire wood, outside games were provided for us, we were able to use their dryer when our tent decided to let the rain soak our daughters duffle bag full of clothes, and they showed us how to manage the ac. We were allowed to have a tent by us which was very nice, but i recommend moving it every couple of days because I'm pretty sure we killed the grass where ours was. The area is very quiet, very peaceful and kind neighborhood. The camper slept comfortably for our family of five. Dion and Rod were available to take us on a tour on the lakes. We even stopped to let the kids swim. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you Dion and Rod for the generous hospitality. Sorry for the late review ;)

We had an absolutely WONDERFUL stay at Russel’s Roost! This place had everything we could have possibly needed for the perfect holiday weekend getaway. The camper was cozy and comfortable, the fridge was nice and cold for all of our food, and having our own private space made the whole stay so relaxing.We especially loved the fire pit, the boat dock right on the property, and the fact that we were able to bring our furry family members with us! It was so nice not having to leave them behind.The hosts were incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. They answered all of my questions and made us feel right at home. The camper was also stocked with all the utensils we needed for cooking and eating, and having the propane grill provided was such a bonus. It meant we could pack so much less! Only complaint, bathroom size. LOL it has been awhile since I have used a camper bathroom, if you know, you know - but it was nice to have. Everything about our stay was convenient, peaceful, and enjoyable. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our holiday weekend. We absolutely loved Russel’s Roost and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. We will definitely be back!
