Foxfire - Secluded Zen Retreat with Spa & Views

Welcome to Foxfire, a secluded yet convenient Zen-paradise where breathtaking views await you in every room. Located just over an hour from Baltimore/DC, this 1800s orchard house and former Civil War hospital was completely renovated in 2023 to create the ultimate relaxing, inspirational or romantic escape.
From high-end finishes to a spa-like master suite, we've designed a retreat that blends the pampering of a resort with the privacy of a luxury home.

The Space
The home's open, free-flowing design is filled with natural light, contemporary décor, and modern amenities, all while honoring its historic charm.

Chef's Kitchen: A well-appointed kitchen featuring a large island, French door refrigerator, separate beverage fridge, double ovens, gas range, and cocktail & coffee bars. Your stay includes initial supplies of coffee (K-cups & filters), tea, sweeteners, and cleaning essentials. The kitchen is completed with seating for 8 on a handcrafted black walnut dining table created from a 100-year-old tree harvested from the property.

Spacious Living Room: Relax next to the stone (harvested from the property) fireplace on a couch (with a comfortable full-size pullout bed) or enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine from the large window seat. The living room also features a large smart TV with Bose surround sound.

Spa-Like Master Suite (Main Level): A true retreat within the retreat! Features a king-size Sleep Number bed under two skylights for stargazing, a fireplace, smart TV, and private access to the back deck (hot tub, outdoor shower). The ensuite bath boasts heated floors, a dual vanity, a heated bidet, and a massive 4'x6' three-headed shower with a Bluetooth speaker and a 6-foot window opening to the backyard.

Second Bedroom (Main Level): A comfortable room with a queen-size Sleep Number bed, smart TV, and a private ensuite bath with heated floors and a tub/shower combo.

Inspirational Loft (Second Level): A funky and inspirational multipurpose room with original wood floors and the best mountain views in the house! Features a single Sleep Number bed, a second twin-sized roll-away with foam mattress, love seat, oversized chair, skylights, a full bath (shower), smart TV, library/board games, fireplace, yoga equipment, and an electric standing desk with dual monitors for a perfect work-from-anywhere setup.

Thoughtful Amenities
To ensure a comfortable and restorative stay, we provide plush cotton bathrobes, oversized bath and hot tub towels, and fully stocked bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, and more.

The Outdoor Oasis & Guest Access
You have full access to the house (excluding the basement) and the surrounding 14 acres of pasture, forest, and orchard. Ample parking is available for up to 4 vehicles.

Multiple Outdoor Spaces: Enjoy spectacular views from 5 decks and patios: including a large front deck with seating for 8, a lower river rock patio with a propane firepit, a covered porch with a swing, a brick patio with charcoal BBQ, and a back deck featuring a 6-person jetted hot tub and an outdoor shower.

Explore the Land: The 14 acres include open pastures, forests, and an orchard with daily wildlife visitors (deer, turkeys, eagles, and the occasional black bear). Guests are welcome to respectfully harvest ripe, edible fruits from the many trees on the property at their own risk.

Family-Friendly Features: A pack-and-play, crib, and booster seat are available; the staircase is equipped with a retractable baby gate for the safety of our little guests.

Important Things to Note
To ensure a perfect stay, please read the following:

Winter Weather Advisory: This is a mountainside property. We have prompt snow removal, but a 4-wheel drive vehicle is strongly advised and sometimes required in winter. The driveway is steep, and in some cases, you may need to park at the bottom and walk up (approximately 100 yards). Cancellations due to weather are not refunded.

Authentic Farmhouse Charm: Our home was built in the 1800s and is surrounded by forests, orchards, and farmland. With our history and rural environment comes authentic character; meaning you may occasionally find bugs, a field mouse, etc., in and around the house. We have routine pest control, extensive cleaning procedures, and cleaning supplies. Cell service can be spotty; we have reliable business-grade cable internet. The home is on a well and septic system, so please be mindful of water usage and what you flush. If you are seeking a perfectly sealed new building in the city, Foxfire may not be the right fit!

Important Information & House Rules

Connectivity: Business-class Comcast WiFi is provided for our guests' convenience.
Booking: You will receive a link to complete our rental agreement and security deposit hold. This must be completed within 48 hours of booking.
No Smoking / No Pets: This is a strict no-smoking and no-pet property. A minimum $250 fee plus cleaning costs will be charged if evidence is found.
No Parties or Events: Unauthorized parties, events, or unregistered overnight guests are not permitted. Exceeding the occupancy limit will result in the immediate, non-refundable cancellation of your stay.
Quiet Hours: Please respect our neighbors. Per city ordinance, quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM. Noise complaints may lead to police fines and termination of your stay.
Security: For your security, exterior cameras are located at the front and back doors. Do not alter wiring or obstruct any electronic equipment.
Prohibited Items: No open flames, fireworks, hunting, illegal substances, or underage drinking are allowed on the property.
