Located about an hour South of Houston, the Bahama Mama offers the ultimate retreat for those seeking to get away from it all to enjoy a spectacular time at the beach. The House has an extended deck with nice views of the ocean, and the inside is very nicely furnished with the vacationing family in mind. The beach is a few steps away and offers endless possibilities for fun regardless of the season. Surfside Beach was recently voted as best Gulf Coast beach town by readers of Gulfscapes magazine. Surside is steeped in history and is home to the famous Fort Velasco, and is the location where the first battle prior to the war for Texas Independence was fought. This is a sister property to "Sunny Days" which is located next to it (search on Property ID 959903).

Great beach vacation

The property was clean, beautiful and convenient. This was our 3rd stay in Surfside, and the best property so far in terms of space, cleanliness and beach access.

Lovely stay

Very nice house. Clean and close to the beach. Just a private walkover and wah’la you’re on the beach. Comfortable beds too.

Great stay!

This was a cute beach house with nice views of the beach. King bed was comfortable and even though not used, the full sized bottom bunk was a great idea. Communication with the owners was great and they were very responsive. I would definitely stay again!

The property was well kept and was a few feet from the beach. The owners were great and helped me with all my questions. My family didn’t want to leave, the view was amazing and we had great neighbors. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Great Beach House

We had a great time at Surfside again this year. The house was perfect for us. Loved the ocean view and the walking distance to the beach. Management was on top of everything we needed. Thanks again for a great time.

Great Vacation Spot

Property was clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen was stocked with plenty of everything we needed for cooking. Loved the outdoor shower to rinse off the sand from the beach. Area was family friendly. House was close to the beach. We enjoyed our stay. Would've liked a TV in the master bedroom.

Memorial Day weekend at this property

We spent 4 days at this property over the Memorial Day weekend last week. The property was clean and comfortable. Great location to the beach and beach access one street over. Fantastic view of the Ocean and the deck was large. We had a great time and it was very relaxing. Thanks for leasing us your property. Thank you.

Family beach getaway

This was the perfect place! Steps to the beach! TK was a great host! My wife and daughter and grandkids had a great time enjoying the beach. We were on the beach from morning till night. We walked to the house for lunch to cool off. Awesome accommodations! We will definitely come back.

Great location! Owners are very quick to respond to any needs.

Great location. Great views! Easy to get to the beach! The owners responded quickly to needs. Only negative is that the entire house needs a good cleaning and could use new carpet. Plus, we found other people's hair in bathrooms and it seemed the floors were not cleaned prior to our arrival.

when I arrived at this beach house I instantly felt a vacation welcoming very spacious for a family of six if you bring two extra people still spacious I booked this beach house for my daughter's 5th birthday and from the moment we got there to the moment we left we had so much fun very easy to get to the beach, very easy to clean up, and take a shower. We were able to cook and everything was provided. Great communication with the owner we got there early we left a little later definitely will be staying at this location again.

Perfect weather

Beautiful sunrises, wonderful beach, awesome waves. House is very comfortable. Could use some better cooking pots and pans. The ones there are not sufficient for cooking a large meal and no covers for the frying pans (which you need when cooking potatoes…..) Everything thing else was great. Wonderful place to stay.

Nice location but needs an

Renting this property was based on what was advertised, however location is good, but maintenance was not what I expected property manager need to check on there cleaning services. But overall it’s okay.

This property needs a thorough cleaning from top to bottom. If you want pictures I would be happy to send. Hard to get to the beach with a 2 1/2 year old. The running water smelled like rotten eggs did not take a show for two days.. finally had to give in..The lift for constuction across the street was from 8 AM to nightfall the entire time breathing Diesel fuel exhaust. The only good thing about this place is that the beds were comfortable but the linens smelled the rotten eggs

Cozy Beach House

Semi private balcony with relaxing water views. Newly upgraded floors were a nice touch. The home appears as advertised. Bonus the porch is connected to the home next door if you have a very large group and want to rent both. The only downsides were that the couches in the living room were not comfortable and the house could have been a little cleaner for my taste (bugs and dust in window sills, dusty floor, sticky handles in the kitchen). The other thing is the water in Surfside isn't great and was often brown and cloudy. We did not cook with it and there was a warning that arsenic levels in the area are high. So if that changes in the future I would definitely be back to Surfside for a visit and would be happy to stay in this house again.

Cute house with great view and responsive owner

House is cute. The view and beach access are great. There are some small things that if improved would take this to a 5 star rental. Pots, pans and kitchen utensils are in need of replacing, and there just aren’t a lot of pans/etc. Just felt somewhat minimal. We’ve stayed in countless rentals, and this one just seemed a bit minimal overall. No nice deck chairs to sun in, etc. There needs to be more linens and extra blankets for a more comfortable feel. Pillows need replacing and all pillows and beds should have covers for cleanliness and bug prevention. I also didn’t realize we had to make our own beds. They do provide towels and soap which was nice. This house has the potential to be truly awesome versus nice.

Good location, clean and comfortable.

House was clean and comfortable for our family of 6 adults and 1 child. It's a quick, easy walk between the front row houses and across the dunes to the beach. Most of the houses around us were full but it was still quiet. Good water pressure in the showers and plenty of hot water as several of us showered at the same time with no problems. Great communication with the owner. As one reviewer noted, you do need to make your own beds so plan for that if you're arriving late in the day. It was no problem for us and we took care of it for our late arrivals. There were no dish towels or paper towels in the kitchen so plan for that and be sure to bring whatever condiments, spices, etc. you need. There was salt and pepper. We had everything else we needed including dishwasher and clothes detergent which was much appreciated. Had a good stay!

Nice view!

Nice view especially from deck! Nice deck with latched gates for little ones safety! Home was as listed. Had a small wait to get into home. The person cleaning accidentally took to key. Owner was as extremely nice and helped to resolve the situation in less than 15 minutes. The lady who came with the key was extremely nice and apologetic as well! The a/c took a while to cool off, they provided 1 stand fan, so we purchased 2 box fans to help cool us down. Could not set a/c temp below 73. The queen bed was extremely hard to sleep on for 2 people because there was a significant dip that you would roll into, so wife and hubby took turns on the couch and everyone else’s beds to sleep. Also, it would have been nice to have extra trash bags, dishwashing pods, paper towels and dish cloths. We had to buy them. Other than that, we enjoyed the stay and appreciate the owners opening up their home to us!
