Rollin' N the Hay Dutch Barn features a relaxing private vacation for a couple, a small family, or good friends. Living quarters are on the top level with only one step onto the deck (handicapped friendly, with a little help). The lower level has the second bathroom at the foot of the staircase, the downstairs area is set up for ping pong, a second exit for unloading luggage, the workshop and studio is locked and reserved for owners hobby use. Located on 14 private mountain acres Rollin' N the Hay cabin is within Leatherwood Mountain Resort. A captivating vacation: unobstructed mountain views, raised overlook deck chairs, enjoyable hot tub under brilliant star lit nights on the open deck (no light pollution here!), with only wildlife to breakup nature's quiet; cherished moments await in the peace and solitude of this secluded mountain barn.

Rollin' N the Hay is a wonderful place for couples, small families, honeymooner's, anniversaries, or friends to get away from 'IT ALL' ! Private, beautiful views, nature right outside the door, in the middle of wilderness, hiking trails, pool, tennis, horseback riding, fishing, and tubing are for everyone to enjoy. You can bring your personal horses and board them at the Leatherwood Mountains 60 stall stables. Contact Leatherwood Mountains to board your horses at 336-973-5044.

Rollin N the Hay is located just off Tin Horn Road (1.7 miles from the Leatherwood Mountains security gate) and about 1/4 mile down graveled Flag Branch Road.

Rollin' N the Hay feels like stepping into an 'old shoe'. Warm cypress wood, stained glass panels, Frederic Remington cowboy prints, nature collections, and of course modern 'must haves' WiFi and with streaming Netflix and Amazon Prime and other free channels; who could ask for more to get away from the hustle and bustle of the 'real world'?

Relaxing couples weekend

We had so much fun at Rollin N The Hay, the views from the porch were beautiful and we got some great photos in front of the property. The ping pong table was a great bonus.

Perfect Getaway

Rollin’ in the Hay was absolutely perfect for our long weekend getaway! Perfect location, all amenities we needed, comfortable beds, amazing view and phenomenal home. The horses at Leatherwood were a great family experience. The trails offered plenty of areas to hike. We will definitely be back again!

Amazing Find

Property was perfect for us. It has everything you could need, spices, toiletries, laundry products, etc. The hot tub and view are awesome. The ping pong table is so much fun! The owners were very responsive. We loved going to the pool and its only a short 30 min drive to Wilkesboro. The scenery is gorgeous. We will def rent again.

Long weekend

Decided to hit the mountains for a long weekend before the season's craziness got into full gear. It's a beautiful spot; I could sit on the deck and hot tub all day and be totally happy. I would recommend 4x4/AWD. We brought the FWD, which was fine, but I wouldn't do it again.

Wonderful

The views at this cabin are breathtaking, beautiful. The cabin is nice, cozy, and clean. We stayed two nights to breakup our trip south, So glad we did! The cabin has everything you would need. Has a hot tub but we didn’t get a chance to use it. I’d definitely rent this again!

Love this place

I found myself not wanting to leave, I was thinking about buying the place, or maybe just staying until they kicked me out. I have squatters rights right?! I loved it, the view was nice, the place was neat and clean, the restaurant has good breakfast and lunch, live band, horses riding, creeks, swimming pool, just a nice family home feeling atmosphere. I will definitely be going back. Make sure you arrive with enough gas in the vehicle to make it back out. The place is hidden away pretty well with a good drive to the gas stations. It may say only 12 miles, but that’s 45 minutes of winding roads that all seem to be up hill.

The location was nice. The views were beautiful. Did have a few negatives. There were alot of bugs. Understand was in mountains but they were alot dead ones and not cleaned. Ther smoke detectors were all missing. Ther overhead lights in both bedrooms would flicker and then just turn off. Felt like no one had been there in a while to check on place and upkeep. If a little care was given to place it would be 5 stars conegstovesnegativnevgoven

Awesome Stay

This property is so much nicer than the pictures! The apartment is a way upscale cabin. You do not have to be a horse person to love this home. The kitchen has just about everything you could ever need. The living room is very comfy with two couches and gas logs. It also has a regular heating system. The gas logs just create a cozier atmosphere. The 2 bedrooms had wonderful/tasteful bed and breakfast type unique furniture and very nice bedding. (Which we removed to the quilt rack as soon as we got there in case the dogs jumped up there to investigate). The view from the deck is unbelievable. My husband and I and our two dogs spent Thanksgiving here. We never took them off-leash as you really are on the mountain -- right there....and they are not mountain savvy. But we enjoyed taking them on numerous leisurely long walks. We loved everything about our stay in Rollin N the Hay. We will surely be back.

Relaxing getaway

Beautiful, clean and well stocked place. Suitable for 4 adults or a family of 5-7. An amazing place with unbeatable views. It is well off the beaten path and just a lovely place. Thank you to the hosts for maintaining such a wonderful place. I look forward to returning.

One of the amenities advertised for this property was not working during our visit. Since we paid for it, but didn’t get it, we suggested that a partial refund should be offered. Instead, the owner offered a list of excuses in an email. Her tone was snippy, strangely critical, and dismissive. We obviously won’t be staying there again.

Beautiful views!

We had a great time staying at Rollin in the Hay! It was a perfect weekend get away to enjoy mountain views and get in a hike at nearby parks / parkway. 4 stars as there were a few insects to manage inside but otherwise it was great for me and my spouse. All the needed amenities were provided.

Comfy cabin in peaceful location

We enjoyed our stay in this clean and cozy cabin that sits above a barn. Lovely views and good star gazing at night. Good directions from owners led us to the well furnished cabin in a quiet development.

Wonderful Stay!

My husband and I stayed here for a short get away. Very peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful scenery. Very nice accommodations. The ladybugs were a little overwhelming but not really sure anything could have been done about that. The shower was great however; I would recommend changing out the shower head as it felt like you were being sprayed by needles. Still give this place 5 stars!

Beautiful

We really enjoyed our stay at Rollin n the hay. Nice set up, beautiful view and comfortable beds! I will say that the light switches need to be marked so you know what one went to what. Shower pressure is amazing ❤️ it's a fantastic area to walk/hike around in. We had a great time when we stuck around leatherwood mountain and when we drove down the mountain into Blowing Rock and Boone. It's truly Gods beautiful handy work for us to enjoy. thanks again for sharing your mountain home❣️🙏 Phyllis & Clifton

Perfect girls weekend

Perfect place for a girls weekend. As horse people, we all loved the old barn feel. Beautiful view off the deck for morning coffee. The kitchen is a little small if you’re planning to entertain indoors, but was well enough for 3 girls who took a weekend break from cooking. Will definitely stay again!

Hideaway in the mountains

Great little place nestled up in the Leatherwood Mountains! Perfect for a small family, with a great view as well. Owner was very responsive, great communication. Note that you are pretty remote, and if you are planning to go to Boone/Blowing Rock expect to go up some pretty gnarly backroads! Great place, highly recommend the tubing in the Leatherwood resort

So peaceful

We enjoyed a long weekend here and were so relaxed that we never even left to go on a hike or to see many of the nearby attractions. The property is quiet and very, very clean and comfortable. The deck and views were wonderful for our evening meals.

Beautiful remote location

We had a wonderful stay at Rolling in the Hay. The property and surrounding area is beautiful. Pay attention to the host's description which says come prepared. You are 20 miles from anything (including gas stations), that doesn't sound bad, but they are country miles and it will take you a good hour's worth of driving to get anywhere. We came prepared with plenty of food and supplies and had a great time. I also second the host's recommendation of a flashlight. The upper deck area facing the driveway really could use a floodlight. But again, if you are expecting it, it's not a problem. If you want just want a quiet location away from it all and don't want to head out on the town for some night life and dinner this is the place for you.
