Opera House at Boothbay Harbor e Maine State Aquarium também valem a visita.

Lovely view of cove
Absolutely delightful location with access to water (if one is willing to scramble a bit and walk through standard Maine rock/seaweed/mud except at high tide). Host was extremely friendly and responsive. Minor maintenance issues (one outside step was broken, the stove ignition was erratic) But they were simple to work around or avoid. Very good chance we would go back, the only real hesitation we have is that the place is very echoey and we had three noisy children. Ear plugs or noise machines are helpful for sound sleep.

Karen was a delightful guest. I got the outside wooden step replaced, and thanks to her we found a way to light the burners with a match or lighter. As for the echoes...this is a year round house, and when I built it I had the entire place spray foamed. It is easily heated with just the fireplace/woodstove -- even in subzero temperatures. And on sunny winter days so much light comes into the house that the house warms up and no heating is needed. So yes. The house is tight. But with the windows open in the summer, it's hardly an echo chamber. And it is built such that children want to race around, up and down the stairs and especially to play in the loft, where the two bedrooms are designed with delight in mind.
