We greatly valued the stay of these guests from the USA and obviously regret that this bed linen problem occurred. The house was cleaned the day before arrival and most of our bed linen is new or less than 3-6 months old - but a new cleaner failed to properly check the bed linen before fitting and some clean, but old towels and sheets no longer intended for guest use, were accidentally used. Unfortunately the guests did not at any point during their 3 day stay inform us that some of the towels were torn and some sheets frayed at the edges and that some surfaces needed re-dusting - particularly as the guests considered ‘ the host to be very responsive.’ If they had informed us we would of course have recleaned the wood furniture surfaces and replaced any unsuitable bed linen items immediately. We always maintain a large stock of guest bed linen and towels in reserve. We have since checked all of the villa bed linen and towels and purchased replacements of the two torn swimming pool towels and two sets of sheets from our store of 30 that were showing wear and tear at their edges. We greatly appreciate the guest’s opinion that “This is a beautiful historic house in a great neighborhood”.
