Although the road is steep in places, it's no problem getting up the hill if guests bring an all-wheel drive, as I mention to all guests when they book. We keep the road maintained each year with good gravel so the trip up to the mountain cottage is easy.

Glad you enjoyed DeepBlue Sea! Although the road is steep in places, we maintain it each year with the best quality gravel, and although an SUV can be useful, any AWD vehicle or front-wheel drive will do the job!

I always say that a week is just long enough if you want to really get the most out of this fantastic Island!

Thanks for the review Chris! I built these cottages the way I would want them if I was visiting the area. This cottage sits in a special location, high above the area, giving spectacular views of the beach and coast, while still nestled among the old-growth forest.

Thanks so much Lisa- you really seemed to get the most out of your time here! The elevated views can be pretty spectacular, especially when stormy weather is arriving... I knew I had a high bar to reach when you bring a Cape Bretoner into the mix!! ;) Glad we could be a good part of your trip!

I enjoyed meeting Charles and Alyssa and helping them prioritize the best ways to spend their time here. Cape Breton is a fantastic wild land. Just like the inhabitants, things come to life in Spring (which arrives late here-- late-May/ early June). Insects start to move- so we give all of our cottages an exterior treatment which keeps bugs at bay for the guest season. Unfortunately we cannot have this treatment applied until the weather allows, in early-mid June; now that it's in place, guests can focus on more exciting visits, like eagles, deer, and whales! Thanks again Charles and Alyssa!

These guests found the views overlooking the beach “magnificent,” and they spotted whales, eagles, and also found the location “ideal.” They also found my visit and recommendations for restaurants and activities “very helpful,” and felt the cottage itself is “charming and rustic,” featuring a lovely deck and a Sunroom where they could “enjoy drinks while admiring the ocean view.” The only reason we can think of that they withheld a higher score could be that unusual torrential rains somewhat damaged the entry road before his visit (it was still easily passable), and we had to wait a few weeks before our Road Guy could visit. The road has since been fixed.

It's true- the views from this cottages are memorable- before I built the cottage, I always loved the views from this spot! It's great to be able to share them with new guests who come for week, and are able to see and experience all of the good things here. Hope you can visit us again!
