Grace's Place, a Real Maine Cottage

Grace's Place is a real Maine cottage , with pine floors and a working stone fireplace. Walk down the path to a sand and stone beach, read a book on the covered porch or outside deck with a great view of Harpswell Sound, Bailey's and Orr's Islands and the open ocean beyond, while the kids play in the yard.This is a very quiet location, just right for that get away you have been looking for, with enough room inside and out to avoid that 'cabin fever' feeling.

That said, Grace's Place is close to Brunswick with its music festival and music theater, Bowdoin College and great restaurants; Freeport, with LL Bean; Portland, with the Sea Dogs baseball team and great waterfront shopping and dining.

A deep water mooring is available for your boat.

Coastal cottage

Our family loved our stay at this lovely little cottage. Lots to explore in the surrounding areas and the hosts were gracious with our noisy 3 year old.

Retirement Getaway

Had a great visit with friends to celebrate our retirements. Enjoyed the view and the weather! If you’re a birdwatcher, this is a good spot. Saw hummingbirds in the garden and lots of other feathered friends. Close to great lobster and seafood restaurants and many spots to enjoy an authentic Maine experience.

Highly recommend! The cottage is homey and immaculate. We loved all the different porches. The area is so quiet and we were able to visit our favorite places nearby— Stover’s Cove, Pammy’s ice cream and The Dolphin. John is a wonderful host and very responsive. I wish you could swim in the little cove at the end of the path but it’s better for beach combing at low tide.

Amazing property in a great location. The community is very laid back and peaceful and the cottage was very nice. Unfortunately the small beach front area that you can walk to from the cottage was covered in seaweed and not really useable but I understand that this type of thing is hard to control. We would rent the cottage again in a heartbeat. Hosts were friendly and welcoming

Grace’s Place

We had a lovely stay in Grace’s Place. The location was great for exploring the nearby hiking trails and tidal areas and for easily getting into Brunswick for supplies. We especially enjoyed looking out over the bay each day.

A Cozy Cottage with Stunning Views and Thoughtful Hosts

We had a wonderful time in this cozy cottage with a gorgeous view. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the appliances and utensils you need for cooking. The bedrooms had bedside tables in addition to closets, and the bed linens were snow-white and fresh. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of towels and a hair dryer. The hosts were very respectful and gave us our space, which we really appreciated. Big thanks to them!

Quiet, comfortable, restful

Last days of summer and we spent most of our time there on the sun porch with view of water and curbstone bridge. Had everything we needed and plenty of room for a family or group even though we were only two.

Simplicity, water views and a step back in time.

So many wonderful spots to sit and enjoy the ocean breezes and the view. The owners are available, responsive and eager to make your stay positive. Grace's cottage is basic no-frills, but in a charming way. We keep coming back for a week of rest, relax and regroup.

July at Grace's Place

This was our 4th summer vacation at Grace's Place. That says something in itself. It is a wonderful location with a great view. The house has everything our extended family needed. It is always spotlessly clean when we arrive. We will return next summer for sure.

Beautiful cottage. A half bath with the laundry would make things a lot easier but isn’t the end of the world a family of six sharing the one loo. Bring all your herbs, spices, oils etc and kitchen basics like foil/clingfilm as it is bare bones in the kitchen. The views are gorgeous and make sure to enjoy morning coffee on the front porch and you will see hummingbirds feed off the geraniums, gold finches and more flying around the flowers and bushes. The hill back from the water can be a bit much for the less fit and sturdy but the cove is perfect for fishing, paddling and play. Plenty of box fans in case it gets unseasonably warm. We loved our week there and it flew by much too fast.

Grace's place

This was our first time ever being to Maine. We thought the location was great for us to explore Maine. We loved that it was on the ocean and we could walk down to the water when the tide was out. My husband and son fished from the bank and caught Striper. If you are needing bait when you get there go see the nice lady at Johnson's sporting goods in Brunswick. The Ice cream down the street was also really good and a nice treat after exploring all day. The only thing we really had a complaint about was there is no walk of any kind from the parking spot to the porch so in the morning when the grass is wet your shoes get wet and grassy. Other than that our family of 7 really enjoyed our stay.

Perfect house to relax

This house is near lots of great sites in Maine but the purpose of this trip was to relax. We loved all the different places to spread out - front porch, sun room, deck, living room with a beautiful fireplace, and 4 bedrooms. We watched sunrises from the deck and drive up to Mitchell’s Field and Lookout Point for sunsets, and many trips for ice cream! We had perfect late summer weather but I loved that there were plenty of fans had the weather been warmer. We hope to be back!

Great Views

Communication with owner was great. They live next door, are easily accessible but give you your space and privacy. Plenty of space for a family or multiple couples. Views out to the otherside of the islands. Easy access to safe swimming cove. Highly recommended.

Returning to Grace's Place

This was our second stay at Grace's Place. It would have been our third stay but we didn't book early enough in 2021 to beat the post COVID rush. We love this house. My previous review describes the house, the amenities and how well it is maintained. This time I would like to talk about the location and the surroundings. The house has a beautiful view of the bay, Orr's Island, the Crib Bridge and Bailey's Island. The house is perfect for children. Our 5 and 7 year old grandchildren stayed with us. There is absolutely no traffic near the house. The yard is a vast mowed lawn with a swing. Children can safely run and play outside. There is an ice cream stand within walking distance for after dinner treats. A 5 mile drive brings you to great fried fish stand (Erica's) located on a working harbor, or a town beach with shaded picnic tables, or Stover Cove Beach or a grand stand with weekly concerts, or a large tidal pool that can entertain for hours. 15 minutes driving brings you to Brunswick and all the shopping a small city can offer. A 30 minute drive gets you to Popham Beach. The best family beach in Maine. (plenty of parking and clean bathroom/changing room. The house was very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 children. We have rented many VRBO homes and this is our favorite by a big margin. We are already planning our 2023 summer at Grace's Place.

We miss it already

This was our third time staying in this cottage and we absolutely love it, as do our children. Harpswell is marvellous and Grace's is a perfect cottage for a young family with a mix of teens and small kids. It is well appointed, the hosts are delightful and communicative and always make us feel right at home. A highlight is eating breakfast in the back deck and watching the water and the crib stone bridge. The only downfall is having to leave.

Harpswell Holiday

We enjoyed our stay at Grace's place. The cottage is clean and comfortable with a great view from the deck/porch. It's just a short walk down to the water and there are many activities nearby. What's more Pammy's Ice Cream is right down the street. Thank you Mary and Jack!

Everything we were hoping for and more

We loved our three weeks at Grace’s Place. It’s a charming house in a beautiful location, and Mary and Jack are excellent hosts- hands-off and helpful at the same time. We will definitely try to stay here again!
