Looking for a place to unplug, unwind and enjoy nature, look no further! Reservations are filling up very fast for 2025-26, book your trip now! The cabin will be decorated for the holidays in and for winter! The Bear’s Watch is a log mountain home that sleeps 10 comfortably with 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The game room has a couch that can be converted to a queen sized bed (with linens) to sleep 12 in the house total. Powder Horn mountain has great amenities, including a fitness center, game room, community swimming pool (open Memorial Day to Labor Day) and camp ground. Private, two tier deck gives guests plenty of space to enjoy the mountain and forest views and the sounds of nature! Main floor master with ensuite bathroom, laundry, island kitchen, dining, and living room with 2 story stacked stone propane fireplace. Upper level has 3 bedrooms and full bath. Lower level has game room with arcade, basketball game, billards, poker table, chess table and a full bath. Two tier, covered, wrap around, decks with screened porch on lower level and propane grill equipped on upper level.Powder Horn Mountain is a gated community with over 12 miles of hiking trails. Other amenities include tennis / pickle ball court, half basketball court, foot paddle boats, and three lakes that are great for fishing. Disc Golf Course! The 6-hole course is located at the Post Office building on Powder Horn Mountain Road and is fun for all ages. Grab a course map/score card from the bulletin board and tee off in a beautiful wooded setting. For a unique souvenir of your visit to Powder Horn, stop by the POA Office and pick up a custom imprinted disc. Ask about our monthly rates! Also, we provide an active military, veteran, and senior discount! Towels and linens are included. House rules: No house parties please.
No smoking indoors or on decks please.
Pets are allowed with a $100 additional cleaning fee for each pet. Limit two pets - all pets must be house trained.
Parking is only allowed on two driveways, no street parking is allowed. Quiet hours to be observed from 11pm to 8am. Thank you for reading this far and we hope you will enjoy the mountain!

We had a great time! The cabin was beautiful and had everything we would possibly need. Very clean. The views were spectacular. We were able to see the ski resort fireworks from the porch. The host was very responsive. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!!

The location was perfect for a girls reading retreat! The cabin was comfortable, had a beautiful view, and had everything we needed to spend the whole weekend enjoying the mountains. We had a small issue with the stove but it was fixed promptly and owners were very communicative.

Great place to stay. Disappointed that hot tub was extremely foamy, had to light gas stovetop by hand, door would not lock per instructions, and there were no dishcloths and drying towel. Owners were made aware, but issues could not be resolved. Otherwise the stay was great!

Perfect fit for our grown family with grandchildren. Plenty of space. Great amenities. Loved the games downstairs and the hot tub. Enjoyed the property to fish and play on the playground. Found a great swimming hole. Relaxed sitting on the decks. One of the families best vacations. Great communication with owner and property manager. Would return again.

Wonderful stay & Wonderful staff

The house was perfect for our large group. The hosts were easy to connect with and swift to respond. Craig, the property manager, was so friendly and helpful! Unfortunately, the pool was undergoing maintenance and was inaccessible the entirety of our stay- that was a huge bummer for the plethora of kids we had in tow. Just wish we would have known beforehand so we could have prepped the kids. We did find a public pool in Blowing Rock and visited that one day. We also found lots of hikes in and around the community to fill our time! A couple small things- the kitchen definitely needs Tupperware! We used a LOT of plastic wrap trying to keep leftover throughout the work. The lower level floor is also in grave need of replacement- it appears to have been laid improperly or damaged? Even with those call-outs, we would stay here again! Thanks for having us!

Board Game Party

Had an absolutely incredible stay with friends and board gaming. Location was excellent, tables and rooms were perfect. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful cabin where staying in is a great option!

Lovely place!

We so much enjoyed this beautiful mountain retreat. The setting was lovely and the home had everything we needed. Our 12-year-old appreciated the well stocked game room. The wraparound porch was sublime. Thank you so much.

Great weekend getaway

Wonderful weekend with the family. The cabin was very relaxing and stocked with everything you would need. Hot tub was great after a long day of skiing. Only regret is we couldn’t stay longer.

Fun trip

Overall we had an amazing time. Communication was great and the house was very homey. Kids had a great time playing pool and basketball. The hot-tub was perfect after a long day of skiing. Highly recommend!

Holiday weekend stay

My family loved our stay at Bear’s Watch! The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, and the cabin provided plenty of fun for our teens. Will definitely come back!
