We needed a 3 bedroom cottage with an open plan, and this was a great match. The property was quiet without being too out of the way, and the house itself was both modern and cozy. It was nice being in a space that was so clearly also enjoyed by a real family, instead of a soulless investment properly with the charm of a hotel room attacked by a Hobby Lobby. There isn't much in the way of grocery options near, so we shopped at Davis IGA in Kent on our way in, at a Stop & Shop in Litchfield, and The Market in Bantam. We got carryout from Goshen Pizza one night, and another time dined in at AJs Steak & Pizza, both nearby and good family options. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Our reason for staying in the area was a concert at Music Mountain, which was an easy drive away. We also visited the John Brown Birthplace Trail for history & hike, and enjoyed the charming Bantam Theater and Arethusa Cafe.Even though it was extremely hot and humid, the property had many of its screened windows wide open when we arrived. Maybe this was done to "air it out," but I would recommend against doing this between renters in the future. We tried our best to find and close every window, but we missed one way up at the end of the balcony at the peak of the 2nd floor, so it seemed like the AC wasn't working in the upstairs for the first day or two, which was uncomfortable. Other than that, the property was delightful and accommodating for a relaxed long weekend with family.
