THE WIZARD COTTAGE
3 Bedrooms + Sleeping Porch, 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)Restored 1920 beach house with sand beach, fire pit, huge pet friendly yard, owner has aussie shepard puppy who roams the property. Perfect anchoring for your boat out front, and plenty of parking for multiple vehicles. Fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen appliances, coffee maker, books, games, WIFI, ROKU TV, washer, dryer, fridge, freezer, propane grill.

Owner builds classic wooden boats next door. His daughter Jessie, is a photographer and would love to book a family photo session with you !

Property Owner and Property manager live on property. It is a very friendly and welcoming shared yard/beach. The Cottage is it's own private entity.

Great family vacation

We had a great stay at the Wizard Cottage. Location is perfect - short walk to Northport and convenient to multiple destinations around the peninsula. The house had everything we needed, is extremely charming, and Jessie was easy to work with.Thanks for a great week!

Fabulous place for relaxing vacation

This house is better than photos. So charming and comfortable. Beautiful views, great yard and beach and easy walk to town for coffee or meals. We really enjoyed the owners too. We had a GREAT time.

We LOVE God's Country

If you appreciate old homes with nice furnishings and history, you'll have a great stay. It was an easy walk to town for groceries, shopping, and ice cream, too! Quiet small town, friendly people, not a lot of traffic. Nice shallow water, sandy beach--our dog learned to swim here! Amazing sunsets at Peterson Park, and awesome sunrise views from the master bedroom and the sun room.

We loved Wizard Cottage

Our family had a wonderful vacation here. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated with many beautiful antiques and old sailing apparatus. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Northport was perfect for us because it was close to everything but away from the crowds. Jessie and Jim are great hosts. We will definitely come again.

Great Vacation

We had an amazing trip up North. Very comfortable accommodations that were well stocked. Deep Sandy beach that is very easy to wade and great for kids. The owner and his daughter with her family live in separate houses on the property. They love hosting and are a wealth of resources. We enjoyed getting to know them and the family dog. The owner even fixed our golf cart and went on a motorcycle ride around town with me. Great time! We can’t say thanks enough.

Great location! Very accommodating!

What a beautiful and fun home to vacation in! Hosts were very friendly, helpful and shared any and all toys with us. Location is great for shopping, drinking and eating in the area. But also wonderful enough to enjoy staying in.

Wonderful lakeshore home!

We loved our trip at the Wizard Cottage. We were hoping for a slower paced, lakeshore stay and this home didn't disappoint! Prior reviews are accurate, owners are friendly and easily accessible although no issues arose. Zipper is a wonderful dog, friendly and always welcome when he would amble over (perhaps once a day to say hi and get a belly rub, then off to live his life). Would love to visit again!

Most Perfect Get-a-Way!

We absolutely loved this home...so comfortable and perfect for a winter getaway! Incredibly clean, homey, and filled with character. Not only was the home perfect, but the owners made the trip even better...cannot say enough good things about the experience!

Fantastic location on Northport Bay!

Our group (two families with three young children between us) loved this house! There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably (the six year-olds loved the screened-in porch), and we all thoroughly enjoyed the small beach and wonderful dock. Because of Covid-19, we did little besides hang out at the house, paddle board, swim, play croquet, and play with Zipper the dog, and the house was perfect for that. The sunrises over the bay are amazing. Jessie, the property manager, was very easy to communicate with. When we did venture out, we appreciated the easy access to town (within walking distance), Leelanau State Park, and Leland. The house was clean and inviting, full of sailboat paraphernalia, and very functional. We highly recommend this beautiful property.

Treasure Trove

The Wizard Cottage was even more interesting in person than the great pictures online. There were all kinds of treasures throughout the house, books, music cd's, dvd's, videos, etc. The television system was also great w/ the Roku and ability to use our own movie apps. There is now a screened sleeping porch and no traffic noise as are often the case on units on or off M22. We had a great time, cooking and many of the spices we needed were onhand. Also well stocked as to other items one might need away from home. In summary I'd say this place felt like home away from home in the best possible way. Jesse was great and made us feel very welcome.

Great stay in Northport

We booked this cottage at the last minute. Communication with Jessie was fantastic and we really enjoyed the cottage. The setting is perfect - walking distance to town, right on the beach with a private setting, dock, fire pit, etc. We would highly recommend.

Simply Amazing

The house is so unique and adorable!! We were lucky enough to have our wedding ceremony on the property over looking the water and it was absolutely stunning!!! Everything was perfect:)

Relaxing Retreat

We loved staying at this beautiful property on the lake! It was a very comfortable house for six adults, baby and two dogs! The dogs loved playing with the owner's dog and loved their time in the lake together. The owner was eager to assist us with orienting ourselves to the property and area. The pictures in the online listing really don't do justice to the beauty of the property! We were very happy with our time there and will be returning in the future.

Lake house Heaven

This 1920 beauty located in a calm inlet right on Lake Michigan was the perfect Summer getaway for our family. Close to Sleeping Bear Dunes and the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. The owners were right next door and so nice. We felt like we were visiting friends. We brought along our dog on the family vacation, and he had an instant friend in 'Zipper', the owner's Australian Shepherd.

Perfect Family get away !

Thank you to Jessi and Jim for a wonderful 12 days! Beach front, space for our SUPs, boat, slip in marina .25 miles away, great yard for badminton, bocce, bike to town for ice cream and groceries, great room for 3+ cars plus trailer...superb! The cottage is homey, comfy, bright and airy...nothing fancy, perfect for our outdoors family and dog. The kitchen was well stocked, beach towels and linens provided (total perk!), laundry machines superb. Wish there was a full sized gas grilled but the "tailgate" table top grill got the job done. We have stayed here 2 years now and hope to return again!

Lovely beach front and yard. Perfect for relaxing, swimming, and family get togethers.

Looks like and feels like a New England beach house. We held a wedding in the yard with the lake in the background. At night you fall asleep to the rhythmic slap of the waves on the beach. Jim, the owner, was always available for giving help. He even took us on a private tour of the scenic and private areas of Northport. We hope to return in the future.

My father retired up here in 2010, and there is no place he would rather be than "Gods country" He spends his time building boats, working on motor bikes, and taking care of the property. He is a mechanic, sailor, woodworker, and all around Wizard. Over the years, he build two separate units on the property. Garages where he can work on all his toys. Each unit has an apartment above it, one in which he lives in, and the other his daughter and son-in-law live in half the year.

It's the best boating base in northern Michigan. The most beautiful waterfront in the county. A huge yard for the kids to play, and dogs to run. Our home is charming, and eclectic on the inside. It is not your average rental property, and we are not your average property owners ! We love where we live, we love sharing where we live. We have made some of our greatest friends by sharing our home, and continue to have returnees year after year.

Three blocks to town, resturaunts, art galleries, groceries and the best donut shop in all of michigan. Fresh baked every morning, really true. Antiques and pieces of history decorate the cottage, making for a unique experience different from your typical vacation rental. Property managers offer their photography and sailing services.
