We booked this property for three nights over the July 4th holiday and, regrettably, cannot recommend it.What concerned us most was the condition of the beds. All three were not clean upon arrival: a dried blood stain on one pillowcase, makeup stains on the linens, and dirt, sand, and hair, both short and long, across every bed. We did not notice until close to midnight on the first night, by which point we had no option but to sleep in them. A cleaning fee had been charged, yet the home had plainly not been cleaned to any reasonable standard. The floors were dirty and the mirrors were streaked with water stains. The shortcomings extended throughout the house: dings, dents, and chipped paint in multiple rooms, adhesive hooks left stuck to the walls, a stained sofa, and a rusted grill with an igniter that did not work. On the second night, a smoke detector began chirping around 5 a.m. and woke the entire house. To his credit, the host did send cleaners and a maintenance person once we raised these issues, which we acknowledged at the time. Even so, resolving problems that should never have existed consumed the better part of a day of a short holiday weekend. The property is priced as a high-end rental; it was not delivered as one. We want to be clear about what we requested. We did not ask to be compensated for the entire stay. We asked only that we not be charged for the first night, which we spent in unsanitary beds. That request was declined. Totally unacceptable.
