The Ski Club Artist Residence is a private apartment located above a non-profit art gallery. This apartment is complete with many common amenities and is located in the heart of the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee. Riverwest has lots of great restaurants, bars, breweries and art galleries and is conveniently located only five/ten-minute drive from the Eastside, Bronzeville, Downtown and Lake Michigan.
The space
The Ski Club Artist Residence is used for artists exhibiting at the Ski Club which is a contemporary art space located in the storefront downstairs. The Polish immigrants settled this neighborhood and the storefront was originally built as the Borkowski Market in 1913. One hundred and one years later the storefront was converted to an art gallery. The Ski Club takes its name as an homage to the original owners the Borkowski family. When artists arenāt staying at the apartment, itās available to rent on and all proceeds from go directly to support the non-profit art gallery.
Guest access
The apartment is accessed through a locked shared side door into a common area. Once in the common area, guests will need to climb a flight of stairs to access their second story private apartment.
Other things to note
The apartment is technically a two-bedroom apartment, however, you'll need to cut through one bedroom to get to the bathroom. This might make it akward for people who like thier privacy.
There is public street parking right in front of the property. Please follow all City of Milwaukee parking rules (URL HIDDEN) If you plan on parking overnight I suggest you call the city to get a temporary permit. This is done over the phone and you'll simply need to provide your license plate number and a home address near where you're parked. Call the city of Milwaukee at ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
