5 stars all the way around! We have always been a beach house family, but this year we decided to bring our boat and give the bay a try as my husband and young adult sons absolutely love fishing. They found it very entertaining to just wake up and drop a line before taking the boat out, as well as fishing at night. The green lights are super cool as you can see the fish in the water. We did not catch anything from the house as we had run out of appropriate bait after being out on the boat all day, but it was still fun to try. We did catch a good number of black drum, red fish, lady fish, croaker, and catfish in the bay (and a big crab). The staircase seems to be a concern for some in the reviews I read prior to choosing this house. I easily get vertigo and the first trip up made me a bit dizzy, but it was totally fine the only other 2 times I went up. My son's are in their early 20s, so they thought it was cool. The deck is sturdy and in good shape, we had no issues getting boat in and out. The fenced yard is awesome and loved that it was enclosed so our dogs could enjoy their zoomies. If you are concerned the house smells like dog, or like something to cover up dog smell, it does not. The neighborhood was super quiet day and night. I thought my son would use the kayaks as he fishes from his all the time, but we didn't even use them. They looked to be in good shape, clean, and ready to go. We loved the house, the location and will definitely return again!

My family of 8 had a wonderful stay! There was plenty to do around the house, and the location was close enough to the pier and city to easily enjoy everything nearby.The house was spacious and had lots of outdoor seating, with plenty of different areas to relax and hang out. Having separate spaces for some privacy was especially nice with a larger group.Robin was a great host and very responsive whenever I had a question or request. I actually ended up losing my phone in the water near the dock, and Robin immediately helped by sending someone out to try to retrieve it. He also helped arrange a dolphin sightseeing tour during our stay, which was a lot of fun!The only downside for us was the spiral staircase inside the house. We had a newly walking toddler with us, and while there were baby gates to help limit access to the stairs, it did make navigating the house a little more challenging.Overall, we'd absolutely stay here again if we come back to Galveston. Just one piece of advice from me: leave your phone inside.

Great place! The host was informative and even helped out with a fishing guide. We really loved the area, we kayaked the bay and utilized the bicycles provided by the host. The only complaint i have is that the home is in need of a little tlc. You can tell it is a rental. Other than that the experience was terrific. Jamaica Beach was very enjoyable, very quiet and not only is there a great Mexican food place right up the road but beach access is right there as well. You can drive your vehicle right on the beach with out a permit. My family and i will be coming back for sure!

The property is clean but the pictures aren’t exactly true since it doesn’t show the circular staircase in the middle of the living room and kitchen to access the upstairs. These stairs are impossible to navigate if you have a disability or if you are older. I think this needs to be disclosed before someone books the property. Also the air conditioning in the home was having a hard time cooling due to the afternoon sun coming through windows by the ceiling that did not have tinting or some type of shade.The owner was very helpful and prompt in answering any questions.

Thank you so much for allowing us to host your stay and for your feedback! We would like to clarify a few details for future guests. The staircase to the second floor is a standard size spiral staircase with a handrail and is described in the property details. The staircase is only required to access the second king bedroom and twin bedroom upstairs; guests who prefer not to use the stairs still have access to a king bedroom w/ an adjoining full bathroom, the kitchen, dining area, and all the main living spaces in the house. Regarding the air conditioning, we reviewed the system after seeing your comments and confirmed through our smart-app that it operated normally throughout the stay. The home consistently maintained the temperatures selected on the thermostat (the longest time it took to reach the desired temp was 47 minutes), and we found no indication of any HVAC performance issues. But, of course, I'm happy to respond immediately if there are any issues detected in the future. It's a fairly new system and should be ice cold! I appreciate your kind words about our responsiveness and I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay.

Perfect stay! My family of 5 stayed here for a quick getaway. The owners were very responsive and answered all my questions! The house was beautiful-clean, spacious and had everything we needed. We loved fishing in the canal and caught several fish. The green fishing lights were awesome! We also enjoyed the kayaks and beautiful views from the upstairs deck. The community was quiet and not far from anything. We dined at Gaidos our first night which was just 20 min away and had Mario’s Pizza delivered our second night. Was a great trip, will definitely be back!

Nice little getaway for the family. We really enjoyed the fishing at night! There were a few concerns but, nothing that needed immediate attention. Space was clean overall but needed a good deep cleaning on the light fixtures and exhaust fans in both bathrooms. May also need to toss a couple of towels. They had dirt stains as if someone tried to clean something up with them. The staircase was very interesting. Kids loved it but my husband and I decided to stay on the lower level. Robin was excellent with communication. He responded to my questions almost immediately! Not a bad trip at all.

The agent was extremely helpful and the home was exactly as advertised. I was able to bring our own 24” pontoon and it fit the boat slip nicely. Our kids enjoyed fishing from the boat slip and the location was convenient for our beach and Galveston Strand adventures. We will be back thanks so much!

VRBO is tired. Pots and pans not great for cooking, no scissors, must allow pets as pet hair everywhere, everything was sticky due to whatever cleaning product is used. Spiral staircase is not ideal. Cannot use pickle court in driveway as the driveway is cracked and could result in injury. Bikes are rusty, not taken care of, and would not do laundry in washer-pure rust. The owner is very responsive. The location is great. The house is just tired, needs upkeep.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m really sorry to hear you didn’t love your stay. I wish you’d reached out during the trip to let me know about these things — I would have been happy to fix anything right away. For example, when you messaged me that one of the kayaks was damaged, I had a brand-new one delivered the same day. I could have easily done the same for anything else that came up. Before your check-in, it seems there was some frustration related to a festival happening in Galveston and, while that was obviously outside of my control, I understand how it could have affected your overall experience. I do my best to make sure every stay is a good one, and our guests find the house clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. We’ve hosted hundreds of families over the years and have been lucky to earn almost all five-star reviews, with many repeat guests who love the location and relaxed feel of Jamaica Beach. I take pride in keeping things well-maintained and appreciate you sharing your thoughts — feedback like this helps me continue improving for future visitors.

House was perfect and clean! Fishing was fantastic! Location was great quite relaxing. We had a blast. Will definitely come back! Robin was a greatHost lots of food information before we even got there. Check in and check out was very nice! Especially check out. I vrbo a lot and dread the check list before you have to leave. Robin has it so easy to pick up take our trash and your on your way! Thank you Robin! If you fish we caught spec trout red drum black drum catfish and crab! Saw lotsOf jelly fish All from their dock!

Great for a family getaway

This was our second stay and had a wonderful time. Robin was quick to respond if we had any questions or needed anything! The beds were very comfortable and fishing in the canal was great. The pickleball court was definitely a highlight. We would recommend coming here to our family/friends.

Nice Time

The peacefulness of this rental was amazing. Fishing every morning and evening right off the dock was worth it! We rented a golf cart to get to the pool and beach and it was totally worth it!! Highly recommend

This is a great place. We didn't stay long enough to do everything this place has to offer. The dock with fishing lights was amazing. We used the kayaks and we caught fish with them as well. We liked this way better than a beach house. We liked the stay here becasue we could enjoy the outdoors activities all the time. Then we could just drive to the beach for a little while. This is more convenient becasue you don't have to find a parking spot and can drive on the beach. You also don't have to carry everything down a board walk to get there.
