Aloha Yelena, We are sorry you were inconvenienced by the sidewalk being closed. Upon reading about the situation the typical access was unavailable during your stay. Thank you for your reply. We are glad you enjoyed the location of our unit and the grass. The day before the you went in, on August 8th, we sent a welcome message which included specific instructions regarding the cleaning which I will quote: " Just a reminder - Check for cleanliness - RCI Island Cleaners has a good reputation and does a thorough job - we don’t usually get complaints. They will return IF you phone when you arrive or the next morning if they have missed something. They can be reached at 808- 250-2153 (phone or text and leave a message if he does not answer)." You stayed for three weeks and because you would have inspected the unit upon your arrival and found it clean, you never called the cleaner to mention anything he accidently missed, nor did you have a complaint at that time. Your unit was very dirty when you left. Your comment about this: "It needed a deep clean" was true but the filth was compiled during your stay as you never cleaned up after yourself. It took the cleaner an extra hour to clean the unit when he cleaned after your stay. Thank you for letting us know the dishwasher was unbolted on top and also the washer quit working during your stay. I did reach out during your stay on July 13th and ask, "I hope all is going great, please let me know if there is any way we can make your stay better" you responded, "everything is great". So perhaps you noticed the dishwasher and washer issue after that, which is fine, but if you had mentioned it earlier we could have had them repaired for you or for our next guest. We are glad the air conditioner worked and will check it out when we go in October.

If you stay again, you know you could easily have an enjoyable vacation without renting a vehicle. Aloha Dale, It's nice to hear you had everything you needed, just like home. The grounds help guests realize they had a relaxing tropical vacation. The tub bottom gets worn because of the sand coming in from the beach. We try to keep up with it but the alternative is a rocky beach and we don't want that either - lol I'm glad you like the location and everything I enjoy about Maui too. Aloha, We are glad you enjoyed the fantastic location and the great amenities. We appreciate your feedback because it helps us think about how to improve our unit. We took our phone out of our unit because of the cost and people generally use their cell phones. By going into the Google - play store on your phone and searching for a free app called, "text now," anyone can use the wi-fi to phone back to Canada or the USA. So when in Maui, you can use it in our unit and the pool but also places like Home Depot where they have customer wi-fi. We personally have used the text now app that looks like a purple old-fashioned counter telephone from the app store. It is currently the second choice down. A safe is probably a good idea and we can look into that next time I go. Islands in the world like Hawaii and Greece are safer than a main continent so we haven't given thought to getting a safe. I think it's because of being on an island we have never had a problem. However, the world is getting more wicked and greedy. Drug addiction is on the rise everywhere which can contribute to theft so getting a safe is something we should probably all do. We had to take the dryer out of our unit because of the cost. I know, no one wants to put on a wet bathing suit-lol! Because our electricity costs on Maui are three times that of the mainland USA, the dryer was something we had to cut. An option would be to take out the washer and let people use the laundry room at the pool. It costs there, but it isn't terribly expensive because all the owner's have paid for solar panels to subsidize the electricity costs. Dated? The Kihei Kai Nani was completed in 1974 so yes some of the units are a total throw-back in time. Our largest improvements was having the bumpy walls and ceilings smoothed out. The kitchen was redone with granite and tall cabinets. But we have kept the dresser and night table with bamboo looking handles because they look Hawaiian, they are sturdy and we like them. Having the bath redone is probably next on our list, but we have enjoyed it since 2011 because of our 5 granddaughters getting sand in "places" and needing a bath! We enjoyed hosting you and are glad you enjoyed what we enjoy. The close proximity to one of the most beautiful, sandy beaches in the world. When I reach out and ask if there is any way we can make a guest's stay better, if they reply with something like a "no phone" problem I can help them out and make their stay better.
