Home away from home.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Each year, as we pull into the drive, it's like coming home again. The home is well proportioned and inviting. Upgrades this year were a real treat, as the owners take care of the property. We tear up each, as well, as we depart, however we strive to keep staying here, as long as we can. Thank you to the Daube family. We miss corresponding with Mrs. Daube, we know she is watching over all who stay here on vacation.

2024 family vacation

Overall the house was great. Good proximity, quiet neighborhood, beach not too crowded. The views from the house are not as good as pictured. Dunes have been added blocking the ocean views and walkways from houses constructed out back block the views in a large part. The house has Lots of large pots and pans and a New gas grill. Would recommend this cottage.

Nice stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful location. The property was as described and included all the amenities required. Only have two issues, nothing very drastic, just more of an inconvenience. The house had an old smoke smell and as there was an ashtray under the sink I assume that there had been smokers at some time which surprised me as I thought the properties were non smoking. It did air out eventually. The other issue is that we certainly wish that there was a keyless door lock rather than having to drive to the office to pick up the key. After a long day's drive the additional drive added nearly an additional hour going and then coming back. We had a wonderful stay and vacation though. Love Nag's Head area.

This Rental Not For Us!

Wooden deck in bad shape-splinters in our hands, stained furniture, had to wash utensils/all pots, cups, glasses we used, mouse droppings in/on linens, ants, outdoor grill was disgusting and left unclean, basically, this house is in disrepair. The King size bed was comfortable. We asked the real estate company if we could be moved to another location and we were told no!

Amenities were fine, yes house could use some updates but we were not surprised by anything and we had a great week. Although it was not clean to our specifications since check in was at 4 we didn't want to use our time to wait for them to come and clean before moving in. So we did a quick wipe down and hit the beach. So I cannot complain since we did not alert them until check out. Walk to beach was short and easy, neighbors were very nice and we would definitely rent this again!

Close to the beach, a quiet area, and "just down the road" from where we want to go and dine in the evenings. We cannot thank you all enough for your kind words and assistance when we stay at Daube! Jason our technician and Kristin our housekeeper, were also awesome!

Nice getaway

We like the layout and location of the property. We had no issues. In recent years, we have been staying at STRs that only require a code for entry, but this one was the older style where you have to pick up keys at an office. This office was 30 minutes out of the way. That was an inconvience.

Excellent location and very nice cottage feel to house

It’s not a 4 star place but it is clean comfortable and very close to the beach and other attractions. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome view!!

The location was perfect!! Cottage outdated, but had all our needs. Carolina Shores did a great job with any issues we had. Did have a few problems, but we worked through it and enjoyed the view and beach!

Great proximity to the beach. Close to restaurants and things to do.

Pretty good. Needed a better cleaning though and the laundry room downstairs smelled of cat urine. Would still stay there again though.

Beautiful location, dated house, terrible check in/out process

The location of the house is very nice. It's on a quiet street with glimpses of the ocean it does NOT have an oceanfront view. The house is very dated. The fans in most rooms are on constantly the light switches control plugins with lamps, there aren't any overhead lights in most rooms. The washer and dryer are outside downstairs which was terrible when it was raining on us. The windows did not open in one room and they need to be replaced. It was clean though but musty smelling and there were silver fish throughout the house. The absolute worse thing though was the rental company. We had to drive to kitty hawk which was an additional 45 minutes away just to pick up the keys and than we had to do it again to check out. This was a complete waste of time and resulted in unnecessary hours wasted just to pick up keys. I will not be staying with this rental company again as they also keep the security deposit for the full 30 days which is not cool.

Awesome first visit to the OBX!

We knew from other reviews that the cottage needed some updates prior to our booking but happily the cottage exceeded our expectations! Yes, it needs some updates, but overall it was exactly what we wanted. The two decks provided excellent views and the beach was just a few steps away. A new beach access bridge was built at the end of the road for the neighborhood. The beach was one of the most amazing places I’ve ever experienced in my 61 years! The cottage was clean and had plenty of dishes. The bathrooms were clean and all appliances worked. Central air was a real plus as the humidity was extremely high this past week. The neighborhood felt very safe and is away from the noise and congestion of the northern towns but close enough to restaurants and activities. We will be back for sure!

Family reunion

The location is great; nice view of the ocean, not too far to restaurants and cute town of Manteo. House is well equipped and layout is good for privacy and spreading out. However the one huge downfall that would keep us from renting again are the beds. They are as hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. We all left with sore achy backs. Also the kitchen is long overdue for updating. The refrigerator is rusting completely thru from the inside out; stove vent is rusted, floor is uneven and cracked in places. Didn’t distract from the use but the cosmetic upgrades would do a lot to enhance the overall ambience. Furniture in the living room has a beach feel but both couch and loveseat also very uncomfortable. and hard to sit on for any length of time. Nice place overall but would not rent again unfortunately.
