Hi Barb, First of all, I'm sorry if you have any mental health/mobility issues; I do empathize. You sent me dozens of texts during your stay saying you were enjoying the home, water, and lake in your kayak and appreciated my tireless effort for you. The last day, you asked to rent again next summer. I said, "Sure!," so this review is very strange! You make a dozen claims that are simply not true and not at all accurate, so let me address them all: A number of mountains are visible from this property and you see them directly across the lake. Read what guest A. Innes (Sept. 29-October 5, 2025) posted in her review October 6, 2025, WITH PICTURES: "The cottage and lake front area is even more welcoming and beautiful than the listing and photos show. The home was immaculately clean. The bedrooms and living area were spacious and very nicely appointed, with every amenity we needed to enjoy our stay. The lake views from the living areas, both bedrooms, and deck area were breathtaking. Best of all, the lawn fronting the lake is larger than it appears in the photos--very private thanks to trees and landscaping. It was a wonderful place to enjoy the lake on peace and quiet from the provided lawn seating." Her photos show the mountains that are impossible to miss from anywhere on the property. Furthermore, Lovewell Mountain is also visible from the lawn. It is a prominent mountain (~3,000 feet tall) along the Sunapee-Monadnock Trail. You can see it pictures on our listing and you saw it from the lawn and told me that when we spoke. That mountain hasn't vanished! It's still there! It's visible from the middle of the lawn, from the dock, from the edges of the lawn, from the beach, etc. It is impossible to miss when you look out over and down the lake; many guests have written about it and said it's special to see that mountain when on our property. Second thing: Our driveway is not steep. It's flat. A picture in the listing shows the driveway; not steep. Our driveway is about 150 ft. long, flat, then briefly inclines, where it turns into a private, shared road just beyond the treelined area. That road has a steep entryway that we can't control. But that’s not our driveway; it's not where guests walk or spend time. The inclined part is about five hundred yards up from our driveway, ~2/10ths of a mile from the home. There's nothing unsafe about the walk or driveway. It's properly maintained. There have never been any safety incidents associated with our driveway or our deck. Your review also claims that "There is no safe way to get into the lake." That's just absurd, and I don't understand that comment. With ~300 feet of lake frontage, over half is accessible by just stepping off the lawn into six inches or less of water. There is also a small beach to wade into the water from shore. Numerous pictures on our listing show the water that comes up to the grassy lawn where it’s a step down of about 6 to 8 inches into shallow water that’s only 3 to 6 inches deep. We have a sandy beach with a children’s tire swing; it’s about 6 to 10 inches deep there. Children wade into the water from that spot. Reviews on this site describe guests enjoying their time swimming in front of our property by wading in from our lawn or beach. This claim is the most baffling of all to me, especially since you texted me about how much you were enjoying your kayak and going to all the nice spots on the lake that I recommended when you asked. To enter a kayak usually involves shallow water with level surface underfoot (sand, no rocks, etc.). That's what this property has. Guest reviews over the years say it’s refreshing to have shallow water in front, and an accessible way into the water. We regularly power wash this home. You had a few rainy days; on a rural property that’s this close to the waterfront, some outside surfaces get slippery. There is no requirement for railings and no danger associated with the lack of stair railings because the deck is only 2-3 feet off the ground. A lawn mowing and landscaping company visits the property weekly; the property is not overgrown in any way; you texted me when you noticed them there mid-stay! Our Welcome Letter does not say that guests “need" to launder "all" linens before departing; we ask guests to run a small courtesy load of towels for our cleaning service so they don’t have to wait for extra loads to dry and delay the next guest. You texted me midway through your week and said, "You're so nice, Tim." Thank you. I agree with that! I was nice to you the whole stay. I did my best. But maybe you're one of those rare guests who seem to find things that aren't there. I'm sorry that you felt like the listing isn't accurate. It is. The other 70 reviews on this site paint an accurate picture; yours tells a story that's full of mischaracterizations, errors, and falsehoods. I'm sorry VRBO allows it to post despite the obvious inaccuracies. -Tim
