Newer Lakefront Log Cabin w/ Beautiful Views, 4 BR Plus Loft, Catskills

This newer log cabin sits on the idyllic Sleepy Hollow Lake in the Catskills region, only two hours from New York City, and has its own small private dock for boating. This sunny house has three bedrooms and 1.5 baths as well as a sleeping loft on the main level, plus a master suite with full bath in the newly remodeled basement. The living room has vaulted ceilings with tall windows and a gas fireplace. There's a new wrap-around deck with a gas grill, as well as a spacious well-equipped kitchen. The basement game room has ping-pong, Foosball, a large TV, exercise equipment (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike) and more. Outside your whole family can enjoy the canoe, kayaks and a fishing boat; play in the large yard; and roast marshmallows in the fire pit at night.

You can also enjoy all the amenities the Sleepy Hollow Lake community has to offer, including two pools, a beach and multiple lakefront swimming areas; tennis, pickleball and basketball courts and playgrounds -- as well as access to the Hudson River waterfront from multiple nearby parks. You'll be just a 5 minute drive to the charming towns of Athens and Coxsackie, 10 minutes to the up-and-coming upstate hot spot of Catskill, and 20 minutes to arts & culture mecca of Hudson (across the river), all offering great options to get out for food and drink. Some of our other favorite local attractions are the Cohotate Preserve where you can make a short hike to the remains an historic icehouse on the Hudson, the Coxsackie Farmers Market each Wednesday (followed by a visit to the Coxsackie Creamery), the Hi-Way Drive-in movie theater, ferry to the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse, and a hike and a dip at the majestic High Falls.

The cabin was very clean and exactly as described in the listing. Checking in was easy, the kitchen had all the necessary utensils to cook and we had plenty of linens and towels. The host Mike, was very communicative during our stay and was prompt to respond to any questions. Would come back for a stay!

Ours was a short trip (only two nights), and wished it could have been longer. The house was so clean and cozy! It had everything we needed, including sharp knives. We love to cook and dull knives are a pet peeve. The kids loved playing table tennis, browsing through books and watching movies. (Lots of movies to choose from.) We also took advantage of the community amenities as guests of the hosts, including tennis and pool. We also fit in a hike at Kaaterskill Falls. Mike and Esther were wonderful hosts, responsive to all questions. We would definitely return!

Lovely Lake Getaway

We stayed at this property over a three-day weekend in October and it was absolutely lovely. It is located in a nice quiet development and the house was just as pictured. There was lots of space for everyone, including a downstairs game room with a large TV. We enjoyed taking the boat out and found it easy to use the battery-operated motor. The owners were very easy to communicate with and check-in and check-out were seamless. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Lovely Home

This lovely lake home was very well maintained and exactly as pictured. It was clean and spacious. We had a very nice time. The only thing I wish I had known before I booked was that the water off the dock is very shallow and murky, making it impossible for the kids to swim or fish directly off the dock. Other than that it is a great house.

Awesome house, Awesome amenities, Awesome price!

We have a large family that all stay together for a week each summer. This year, we stayed at this house. We were so impressed by the cleanliness and freshness of the rooms, bathrooms, furniture, basement... Loved the AC, fire pit, gas grill, enough bedrooms, large clean and NON-mildewy smelling/ feeling basement, the deck was large and accommodating for everyone. The furniture was modern. There were more than enough linens, the kitchen was very well stocked and made cooking super easy. There is a supermarket 8 minutes away. We enjoyed boating right from the house. There were several boats to choose from. The lake is really nice. I am a cyclist and really enjoyed riding around the lake several times. The owner was super accommodating.

Beautiful home & property with great owners!

Thanks Esther & Mike for the stay at your beautiful home, a perfect spot for our Fall Reunion!! The house was ideal for our group, with plenty of space for everyone to either spend together or apart for some quiet time! We had beautiful views of the early fall foliage from the big picture windows in the large open Living & Dining Room areas, and although the gas fireplace didn’t throw off much heat, it was aesthetically perfect for a crisp, cool autumn night! Kitchen was well equipped with cooking pots & pans/utensils/plates/mugs, etc.; everything we needed to cook all of our meals. My only suggestion would be the house being better stocked with basics like paper towels, napkins, plastic wrap, zip lock bags, etc. We struggled trying to wrap up some leftovers at first…but ultimately managed after running to the store for some supplies. And, we could have used some spare light bulbs for lamps/lights that had burned out & batteries for remotes. Minor issues I realize, but worth pointing out. We were so busy having fun drinking some wine, listening to music & playing cards at the BIG kitchen table in the dining area both nights that we never really went downstairs to play any of the other ‘games’ available in the rec room (a very small pool table, ping pong & foosball table), but I could see anyone renting here with children absolutely loving those amenities! I loved being so close to The Town of Hudson. I hadn’t been there in over a decade so it was fun to ‘revisit’ and walk around all the small antique shops and art galleries, visiting the Olana State Historic Site…and relaxing at the end of the afternoon with a cocktail & some appetizers at The Back Bar on Warren Street (an eclectic Thai/Malaysian restaurant/bar with indoor/outdoor dining with a beautiful patio and some funky music!) Lastly I can’t say enough about the exceptional communications between Esther & her husband Mike. They responded VERY quickly to a couple of situations we needed to sift through at first, so A++ for that! I have no hesitation recommending this rental to anyone considering it, and I hope to stay there again sometime in the future!

Beautiful Home

We spent a week here in mid-August. We were 2 families with a total of 7 people. The space was perfect for us, with plenty of room to spread out or gather together. The place was clean and modern — a really nice home. Any issues were addressed promptly by the owner. The property is beautiful, located on the northern edge of Sleepy Hollow Lake. I would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing, get-away vacation.

Great house, good hosts

Everything vent smooth during booking, good info’s in the house and nicely equipped. The lake access was not quite as we envisioned it (we thought we could jump out and swim, but the water was too flat). We recommend the Bistro in Athens for eating, it was very good. Thanks for a few very nice days.

We had a wonderful time

Prime location being situated right on the edge of the lake and with relatively easy access to surrounding parks and lakes. The large and open living room and dining room/kitchen was more than accommodating for our 10-person group and that deck is bomb. The house was also comfortable and very well equipped. One of my friends said specifically :) :I enjoyed the corner of the balcony that was in the sun. It is a very smart placement for a balcony as you can actually enjoy the sun the whole day, both morning and afternoon, which is a treat. The architect should be commended. I also liked the provision of boats. The place was clean and modern, and the shower was well pressurized.

Beautiful Lake House for a Getaway

We spent a long weekend at Ester's lake house with our kids and grandkids in October. It was a real treat. The house is beautifully designed and located on a nice part of the lake. The view through the main room windows is just stunning in the autumn. We enjoyed using the kayaks, fishing from the dock, and eating on the deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for cooking and serving. The deck had a nice propane barbeque that we used for burgers for lunch. Our grandkids really liked the downstairs lounge area with the large TV, foosball and ping pong table. The place is really well maintained and had space that was much more than adequate for our family of 8. It was a pleasure to rent from Ester. She was easy to contact and gave us all the information we needed to enjoy the house and the area. We highly recommend this place and hope to visit again next year.

Amazing!!

The cabin is HUGE and perfectly positioned on the water! We had grand time cooking for all our friends in the spacious and well-stocked kitchen, there was fun to be had in the canoe/kayaks provided, and Esther did a great job of keeping us clued in to the fun happenings at the lake community. We even built a wee bonfire in the fire pit one night to enjoy the star-filled sky, gorgeous. This vacation was perfect 50th Bday party with my loved ones; so relaxing, so memorable, so coming back again!!

amazing home~beautiful location

this was by far the best vacation i've taken with my family in many years.. the home was absolutely perfect.. the owner was so nice and made everything so simple..the house has everything you could possibly need.. the lake is breathtaking..so much fun with the canoes and kayaks~ the water is beautiful...great family memories made here.. definitely would reccommend and return

Great Rental

Great Lakefront Log Cabin!

This was my family's 3rd year in a row staying for a week long vacation on Sleepy Hollow Lake, and this was by far the best of the 3 properties. The owner was super easy to deal with and the property was recently updated and had everything our group needed. The rec room with the ping pong and foosball tables was a big hit and we loved having a trolling motor available for fishing. This lake has some of the best large mouth bass fishing you'll find in NY and our results didn't disappoint. We'll definitely be back!

Wonderful house, wonderful owner

Esther was fantastic during our group's long reunion weekend at her lakefront cabin at the end of June. The house was great as it fit everyone comfortably, and communication between us and her was great. Highly recommend.

Perfect vacation rental

We had a group of 12 guys go up for a golf trip and it was an absolute blast. There was plenty to do at the house and plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably. Esther was extremely responsive leading up to the stay and everything went off without a problem. I can't recommend this property enough.

Great location, house and owner!

We were in town for a wedding that was hosted at Owls Hoot Barn, and found that this listing was less than 10 min away from the venue. Having 3 bedrooms and a separate sleeping loft was perfect for our group of 8. The house was exactly as it was described in the listing, clean, well maintained, and with direct lake access. The owner is supper nice and communicative, answering emails promptly and completely. I only wish it had been warmer during our visit so that we could have enjoyed the Kayaks that the owner provided for our use during our stay! If we ever find ourselves in the area we will definitely try and rent this place again. Great place at a great price!

Now we rent it out part time but make sure we come up and stay here every month. The lake, the light, the trees, the nearby mountains—it's all such a refreshing change from city life.
