We enjoyed hosting Maria and her family. This home is located on Duval, which as anyone who has been in Key West knows comes with its own excitement. That being said, this is the quiet end of Duval, with no bars within blocks. There is the little club across the street but it's a private club and the ladies keep to themselves except for the occasional 'hello' to a passerby; they don't play music or anything.

We appreciate Colin's knowledge of property rentals, but things work a little differently down in Key West. Let's address a few of the issues he brought up: - The pool house - we rent the pool house as an addition because not everyone needs 7 bedrooms, some only need 5 and when that's the case they are happy to pay less money than being forced to pay for the 2 extra bedrooms they aren't going to use - The $5k per night price, that was heavily due to the World Championship Powerboat Races. Any time there is a major event in Key West, it's going to incur a higher rate :) - We can't offer an early check-in or late check-out right when people book because of how our cleaning & booking schedules work. In order to accommodate an early check-in we block the night before in order for our 3 separate cleaning teams (indoor, outdoor & maintenance) to have the time they need to get a property ready by noon (especially a 7 bedroom home!) By blocking the day before, that day becomes unrentable and actually costs the owner of the home money by not being able to rent that night, which is why there is a fee for the early check-in (about 1/3 the nightly rate). This is why we ask our guests reach out about a week prior to their arrival. We are happy to offer the early check-ins and late check-out when they are available! - We're very clear with every guest what the check-in and check-out times are before booking. They are clearly stated in the lease, which must be signed by the guest, so those times should be no surprise to anyone. We wish we could shorten that window, but our cleaning teams need their time to make certain every home looks as good (if not better!) than the pictures.
