Footsteps to Pebble Beach & Short Drive to Redwoods

Castle Island Getaway is literally a 30 seconds walk from the scenic and beautiful uncrowded Pebble Beach of Crescent City, California. Our guests stay in a private home with the main living area up one flight of stairs that includes an updated kitchen & bathroom. You'll enjoy views of our wooded acreage, with the sounds of the ocean and local wildlife ever present during the day and night. It's a short walk to the beach access and bicycles are also available for our guests to enjoy a cruise along Pebble Beach and view the wildlife refuge, Castle Island. Or just relax in the quiet peacefulness of our little corner of Del Norte County, we call 'the Pearl of the Northwest'.

Upon arrival our guests may contact the hosts who can assist with dinner plans and information about things to do and see in our area. We strive to assure our guests make the most of their vacation in this gateway to the Redwoods.

The upstairs living area has a smart TV, dining area and fully stocked kitchen for your convenience.

The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed with a pillow top for added comfort. The windows offer views of the wooded acreage, sounds of the ocean and viewing of local wild life. There is ample closet space for extended stays. There is an additional bedroom downstairs with a daybed that converts to two singles and an additional bathroom and laundry area.

The amazing Redwoods are a year round pleasure in Del Norte County! A short fifteen minute drive east from our beach home brings you to Jedediah Smith Redwoods National & State Park. The area is also known for the pristine beauty of
the famous wild and scenic Smith River gorge. Great for fishing, rafting & swimming.

Our spring and summer activities include biking, hiking, kayaking, sailing, surfing, as well as wild flower and wildlife viewing. Salmon and steelhead fishing is available October through February. Whale watching occurs March through May and depending on the high seas November through December. The arrival of the Aleutian Geese to Castle Island as they migrate north is a spectacular event from February through March. Nature is abundant in Del Norte County all year long and the easy beach access offers our guests the chance to explore tide pools and view spectacular sunsets along Pebble Beach.

Overall impression of this property was great! Owners were very helpful with ideas of sights to see and recommended some awesome restaurants. The property was very clean, although the furniture was a little dated and not super comfy. All in all we had a wonderful visit to this beautiful area.

Highly recommend this cottage as a home base for exploring Redwood National and State parks. Property was very clean, got a good nights sleep in the comfy beds and appreciated being able to do laundry in the middle of our trip. Great communication with hosts.

My only complaint is that I didn't stay longer. The hosts communicate very well. We arrived very late at night and they checked on us and provided helpful nightime photo of the home's entrance that proved useful. The home is located on a beautiful 2 acre lot shared with the host's primary residence. The lot is spectacular with huge trees and feels magical. They hosts are very nice, I enjoyed a nice chat when I bumped into Linda who is a local realtor and took the time to tell me all about the area. I highly recommend.

Our family enjoyed our night here. We were so glad to do laundry along the way and they had lots of extras that made our stay even better. My son LOVED shooting baskets in the cul-de-sac and I e wish we would've had time for a bike ride! Great location to run down to the beach to catch the sunset.

Trip with my girls

My girls and I had a great time staying here. The easy walk to the beach was perfect and the quick drive to explore the redwoods was exaclty what we needed. The owners were quick to respond and very sweet when we had a conversation outside.

Redwoods and West Coast

Quiet neighborhood, property at end of dead end street. Ocean view from dining area, beautiful coastal area with easy access to redwood parks. Short ride to Battery Point light house. Was a very comfortable landing point after spending days exploring woods and coastal areas.

Excellent Stay

Our family stayed at this property during our Pacific NW trip. It was perfect. Easy to get too and close to the Redwood National Forest. The property was exactly how it was described. It was clean and cozy with a GREAT view of the ocean. The property owners checked in with us and were available if we needed anything. The sunsets were breathtaking and only a few steps away. The deer on the property was an added bonus. Our only regret is that we couldnā€™t stay longer.

Pebble Neach Paradise

Beautiful private space. Beach is a block away. Close to Redwoods NP and Jebediah State Park. Everything you need to enjoy your vacation. One f the best VRBO spaces we have rented. A note to those who have limited movement ability. Sleeping space, bath, and laindry down. Stairs to get up to living space, kitchen, bedroom. If there is space, you need to book this piece of paradise!

Great getaway!

This was a great place to stay for our girls trip! Bill and Linda were excellent hosts! They have wonderful life stories to share and weā€™re so welcoming to us. The house was perfect with an open bedroom upstairs and a smaller bed next to the laundry room downstairs. We spent most of our time exploring the area, but when we were at the house we enjoyed access to the beach just a few steps away. We highly recommend the benches just across the road, especially Eleanorā€™s!
