We like to get to know you, so tell us about yourselves and what you are hoping for in your request. We are always selective about having guests, so we screen requests carefully. We are a Private QUIET small Guestcottage for 2 ADULTS over 21 ONLY. The owners live on the property nearby. The home is pet & smoke free not suited for parties! We are members of Monterey County Vacation Rental Alliance, and uphold good neighbor policies, and health practices and expect that of our guests. Thank you for your cooperation!

THE GALLERY HOUSE - A Sanctuary by the Sea

Enjoy the beauty of Big Sur in this unique redwood, rock & glass oceanfront cliff-side Guesthouse, that is embraced by tall cypress and Monterey pines, on a gently sloping rolling green lawn to the Pacific’s edge.

This Guesthouse consists of a living/dining room, kitchen, one bedroom and a bathroom with shower & dressing room attached. The bedroom is a perfect couples romantic getaway for 2, with its queen size bed and ocean view, or use the single size sofa bed in the living room and the queen bed in the bedroom for 2 friends.

Spend time with your sweetheart in a special place for just the two of you. Come renew your love in the perfect romantic anniversary spot. Reconnect with an old friend in our natural environment. Or perhaps you just need time alone, away from it all in a place of quiet peace and great beauty.

Relax by the fire, enjoy the chaise lounges on the sun-drenched southwest facing stone patio with fantastic ocean views. We also are just over a mile away from the famed Esalen Institute for hot springs bathing, workshops, and their world renowned massage treatments. Enjoy the many galleries, shops & cafes nearby.

Or perhaps you will want to just unwind in nature enjoying the dolphins dancing off the coast or the seasonal passage of the whales. Sit on the bench at the cliff edge and delight in the sea otters playing below as the hawks and often condors soar high above.

Unplug from the cell phone and the computer and simply relax, renew, reflect and retreat in this stunning location in Big Sur with nearby hiking trails, galleries and fine dining for your enjoyment. A perfect place for a personal retreat, meditating, practicing yoga, reading, creating art, writing poetry or allowing your next book to flow through you.


A FEW DETAILS

On your way here, enjoy the drive on beautiful Highway One with it's scenic turnouts, beaches and state parks along the way. We suggest you stop in the lovely 2 small towns in either direction, that's Carmel or Cambria, to shop for groceries and gas before driving down or up the coast, as Big Sur has only a few places for these, and you will want to stock up before your trip.

Owned by 2 artists & meditators, the energy here is very inspiring for artists, writers, poets, meditators, couples or friends, as mentioned above. Enjoy the owners artworks of photography, paintings, & collages. This land was considered a sacred site by the ancient Esselen Indian tribe, and we ask that you honor the feeling of this land as a wonderful sanctuary retreat, not suited for parties, only quiet ADULTS!

Please note Big Sur & our home does not promise cell phone or internet service, because we live in REMOTE Big Sur we don't always get service, as is true in most of Big Sur. We do not provide laundry service for our guests or mid stay cleanings.

The Gallery House rents for our standard nightly rate plus cleaning fee and Monterey County taxes, also this site adds their service fees to the traveler. Monthly rate is available. For 2 ADULTS only! Please no smoking anywhere on this property or in the cottage and no parties or pets or visitors. TOT Tax & a non-refundable cleaning fee apply. Please message us first, to inquire about your dates before booking, as we prefer to screen and connect with our guests and meet you first with a questionnaire, since we also live on the property. At the time of booking we will call you and ask for your personal registration information and send a confirmation email with details and agreements. Then after payment is received we will give you directions, and confirm your reservation.
