Enjoy a peaceful vacation at our Tree House in the Smoky Mountains. 3-4 bedrooms with 3 & 1/2 baths await you less than 0.3 mile from Main Street in Highlands. Walk to and fish at catch-and-release Harris Lake or simply relax and feed the ducks and geese. A stroll brings you to all of the downtown shops in minutes. The house sleeps 10. The primary bedroom is on the main floor with a king-size bed and en suite bath. The loft has a queen bed in a private bedroom, with its own bathroom. The ground floor has a bedroom with two double beds and a Jack and Jill bath that is shared with an adjoining room that has two twin beds.

The state-of-the-art kitchen is equipped with high-end Kitchen-Aid appliances. The kitchen has a breakfast bar with extra seating adjoining the dining area.

After a hard day of hiking or shopping relax in the outdoor hot tub on a balcony off the living room. Enjoy a glass of wine in front of a roaring fire during those cool evenings in Highlands.
Most of the time you don't need the AC but the house is fully air-conditioned

Great weekend visit at Treehouse

Our family of six, including 4 adult children, gathered to celebrate a birthday and just loved the Treehouse!Cabin was so fun, and everyone was comfortable. Great location- we could walk to town. Itā€™s well appointed and we had super communication from the hosts. They are not kidding when they say the driveway is steep, but we were able to get our toyota and honda up it without 4-wheel drive.

Treehouse vacation!

Incredible, warm and inviting home!! Our family spent 4 fantastic days and enjoyed everything about the place. From the warm fireplace, the fishing pond nearby, and the short walking distance into town, made for a very enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere!

Charming authentic cabin, AMAZING location

We had THE BEST Thanksgiving week with our family in this beautiful treehouse! Hosts were more than accommodating, beds were comfortable, fireplaces were so cozy, and kitchen was stocked with all the necessities. We will be back!

Tree House

We stayed a month at this lovely mountain lodge. It was well appointed as well as homey and comfortable. The location was fantastic, easy walk to town and great neighborhood. The homeowners were fantastic and communicated often to be sure all was going well and check-in/out was easy. We would definitely stay there again and Highlands is great with many in-town trails, nearby waterfalls, wonderful restaurants, music, farmers market and arts and craft fairs.

Charming, beautiful property!

This was a perfect house for our family to spend Christmas! Enough room for three families to gather! Walking distance to beautiful downtown Highlands yet situated on a beautiful lot with your own privacy! The outdoor fireplace was a great bonus to enjoy a glass of wine for the adults and roast marshmallows for the kiddos! We will hopefully be back as it's the perfect place to explore Highlands!

Wonderfully decorated mountain home!

Loved the location of the bedrooms....everyone had their private space! The loft bedroom was wonderful with its private seating area! The spacious porch with fireplace was a real plus...even in the rain! Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes, pots and pans, glasses and cups, and silverware! Location to town was perfect!

Wonderful Stay

Beautiful and very charming house close to downtown shops and restaurants. We loved the large fireplace in the living room and although we never had a chance to use it, the outdoor space is fantastic. We loved the charm and uniqueness of the entire home and it made a trip to the mountains even more memorable. Steve and Carol were great to deal with and made everything so easy for us. We will definitely be back!

Treehouse is a wonderful stay!

We had a great time in the Highlands and the Treehouse was a big reason why. We booked four couples over the eclipse weekend. We knew we the Highlands would be crowded and resolved to cook all our meals at the house. The Treehouse has a great kitchen which was well stocked for our needs. Between that and the grill we had no problems feeding our family and enjoying the beautiful porch with fireplace. The property is just a short few minutes walk to main street, but affords great privacy. We really enjoyed it and would stay here again!

Such a treat!!

We had such a great long weekend at the Treehouse! The location and the house are both amazing. We walked to town everyday since it is so close! Such a treat to sit in front of the porch fire place (which was already prepared for us... all we had to do was light and enjoy) on a summer night. The house has everything we needed plus more. We will definitely be bookmarking this house for another stay in Highlands.

Great Location and Porch to live on!

I stayed in the Treehouse while in Highlands for a wedding with a large group of friends. The house was great for big group, but the best part was the front porch with the fireplace and comfy couches. The house is close enough to be able to walk to town in about 10 minutes which was very convenient. The rooms were clean and because it is nestled in the woods, the bedrooms would stay very dark in the mornings. Just be careful not to slip on the very steep driveway! I would definitely recommend this house.

Christmas in Highlands 2023

The Treehouse was just as presented on the VRBO site. The house was very comfortable and very well appointed by the owners. The owners warned us about the very steep driveway and they weren't kidding...but we managed ok. There was plenty of firewood for the large fireplace, which we made good use of, and the kitchen was better stocked than most rental properties we've stayed at. The owners were very helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. We would definitely recommend this house and if we ever return to Highlands we would absolutely consider staying there again. Thanks to the Sandlin family for letting us use their lovely home for our Christmas away from home.

The Treehouse does not disappoint!

My husband and I rented this wonderful home for a couple of weeks and it was perfect for us! We had friends with us and we almost loved on the fabulous porch. A perfect gathering spot for an evening fire (yes, even in the summer time!) and a glass or two of wine. We will definitely return to this wonderfully located and fully ā€œamenitizedā€ haven. We never dealt with the property manager (I would have tanked this N/A bit that wasnā€™t an option); only the owners - Carol and Steve - and they were great communicators prior to, during and after our stay. Highly recommended!

Treehouse is the epitome of Highlands!

We rented the Treehouse to be our home base for our daughters' wedding in Highlands. In the past, we have rented homes higher up on the mountain for the views. Treehouse gives you the best of both worlds. This beautiful home is walking distance to town while making you feel like you're in a treehouse. The peaceful beauty from the lovely porch with a roaring fire was perfect for our bridesmaids breakfast. The inside of the house is beautifully rustic in keeping with the feel of Highlands. Three levels give everyone their privacy. The owners were delightful and so helpful. I enjoyed talking to Carol several times before our wedding week. If you stay in Treehouse, you won't be disappointed!!

Upscale this property!

Front door unlocked. Only 2 towels upstairs for a 4 night stay. Toilets clogged when they shouldnā€™t have. Dishes in the cabinet dirty. We ran 3 dishwasher loads to be able to use. Pillows in the closet are gross. The covered back porch had been used and not cleaned, including dirty glasses left out there. Bathtubs have rings of dirt. Cobwebs and dust bunnies with pet hair. Overall the home needs a good deep cleaning. We are leaving our comments to provide you information to upscale your property and rentals. Overall you have a beautiful place.

We had a great after Christmas family trip to Highlands. This house was perfect for our family. The house had everything we needed. The downstairs was a perfect setup for our daughter/SIL/grandsons. Great location, close to downtown which was a priority for us.

Full spacious house, with a cabin feel!

This house is fully stocked, all the comforts of home. There was plenty of room for our 3 adult children, spouses & a baby. Great location to downtown, you can walk if you can handle the hills w/ comfy shoes. Great space for everyone, you can have an indoor or outdoor fire, small hot tub, plenty of TVs, all nestled in the woods, yet close to all the happening! Owners were very easy to communicate with, delightful!

Spring weekend in Highlands

Lovely log cabin an easy and lovely walk to town With suites on 3 levels it was very private for each of 3 couples The open floor plan great room was ideal for time together and the kitchen had everything needed for self catering. The Sandlins are wonderful to work with and I would stay here again in a heartbeat I visited other rentals among our wedding crowd and this was my favorite

Beautiful mountain home close to Main St Highlands

Our family of five including 3 kids ages 8 and under loved our stay at this home. The wood burning fireplace was just wonderful as was the 3 separate living areas on the main, loft, and basement levels. With energetic kids, having plenty of room to spread out is key and this layout did the trick. The owners were very helpful and responsive to any questions we had. While we were here we had a great little winter snow event and the kids were delighted! It was absolutely breathtaking to see the area covered in snow. The hot tub was a bonus as well! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a convenient and spacious spot near downtown Highlands.

My wife and I started coming to Highlands11 years ago. Being from Alabama we enjoy the almost 20 degree difference in temperature during our hot summer months. Wonderful restaurants, friendly residents and the many activities have made us appreciate our discovery in the Smoky Mountains.

We looked for the perfect house for almost 3 years before we found the Tree House. When we first drove up, we knew this was the one.

We are close to town and shopping, but because of our location you have your privacy. Our log house is surrounded by a forest of towering white pines and hardwoods. An indoor and an outdoor fireplace makes for an enjoyable afternoon or evening.
