Air Conditioned Oceanfront Home - Next to White Sands Beach & 4 Mile Dive Site

Feel at home in our three bedroom, three bath, luxury oceanfront two story condominium residence with 2000 square feet of living area in a gated oceanfront resort of only 12 free standing residences with an oceanfront pool and spa. High open beam ceilings with two large lanais and ocean view. The main level has one bedroom and one bath, a gourmet kitchen with Koa wood cabinets, dining area, a spacious living room that opens to the lush garden view down the scenic coastline and the main lanai with comfortable lounge chairs. The top level has two bedroom suites. The large master bedroom has a king bed and looks out to the ocean and has its own separate lanai. Downstairs bedroom has 1 queen. Whole place sleeps 6.
No smoking. Near beaches, golf, shops, restaurants and activities. High Speed Internet!

Adjacent to the property is direct access to the famous 4 Mile dive site. Scuba or snorkel directly from the Property through the Ocean Gate.

AC in living room/dining room and each bedroom.

Located four miles south of Kailua-Kona town along Alii Drive Kona's scenic ocean drive. Kona Onenalo sits on the point of a bay with lush tropical landscaping. Right on a favorite shore diving location -4 Mile or walk to White Sands Beach and Magic Sands Grill which serves great pupus and tropical drinks for sunset. Near Kahaluu Beach Park, a popular snorkeling beach and beginner surf break, and the Kona Country Club golf course. Enjoy sightseeing, water activities or just relax on the lanai.

Great location and management

Great location. The small cove right on the property had excellent snorkling. The property manager Jacob was excellent. He was very helpful, professional and responsive. Would recommend this property.

Great Stay in Paradise!

We really enjoyed our week long stay in this home! Close to restaurants and activities. Plenty of room for our family of 5 adults. Great amenities. Could have used more than 2 Christmas themed kitchen towels and some extra blankets or throws would have been great. Overall had a wonderful stay!

Fun vacation home

Great location right by White Sands beach. Easy access into town on Ali'i drive. We were a little nervous about not having AC at first, but tradewinds and fans made everything quite comfortable. Large well appointed home.

Kona convenient location

The property was immaculate. Jacob (property management) was very helpful and quickly accommodated several requests. We saw a monk seal just a short walk from the townhouse and of course several lovely sunsets from the pool.

Gecko Palace

The home is comfortable, and easily accommodated 6 adults. The kitchen was well stocked and the communal sharing of spices was a big help. The location is superb, with snorkeling off the lava shelve right outside the complex (wave permitting). The grounds are lovely, and the views from the lanai and pool area can't be beat. We look forward to returning! Mahalo

Great spot for multiple families.

Very spacious and roomy. Everyone can have their own private spot. Loved the primary bedroom, fell asleep listening to the waves every night. We only cooked one night but everything in the kitchen you would need to prepare meals. Only one teensy glitch, only towels for two rooms but property mgr brought more over as soon as contacted. Small interruption for our first excursion the next day

Get-a-way break

Overall - we loved the house and the neighborhood - the rooms were comfortable and the house had most of what we needed! Our only complaint would be that the air conditioner’s remote batteries did not have enough power. In addition the air conditioner in the smaller room upstairs did not work- it did not cool at all - luckily the ceiling fan was great! We would definitely stay there again!

Great location

This condo is in a great location. There aren't too many ocean-front options on the big island for bigger groups so this is was a great find. There is no beach here, but white sands is around the corner and walkable. The condo itself is OK. A little dated. The kitchen wasn't well stocked in terms of plates, cups, etc or cookware. We usually try to cook on our Hawaii trips but decided not to this time because it just wasn't convenient given the available kitchen items. Our back porch was nice to watch the ocean, but not as much furniture for our whole group to be out there as was pictured. Overall it's a nice complex.

Mixed review

Good.... location, plenty of room in house, great partial view. Bad... partial view, roaches, no communication. Location was great. The house had plenty of room for us. There were some surf boards, boogie boards, snorkle gear available (we had our own). The ac units in every room were enough to stay comfortable. Communication was not there. I messaged a question a week prior to arrival, called during business hours(no answer) then messaged the day of arrival, and messaged day after departing. I have not received any response with new person (kevin replied quickly). I was told there were 2 parking spots (2 months back), but was only told of one upon arrival. This is why a called/messaged them. There was another spot marked for the house, but seemed to be taken most afternoons (could have been companies working on other houses). I never received confirmation of 2 parking spots. I dont know if they sprayed for bugs right before we came, but there were alot of roaches (Big ones). Several dead ones, and killed at least one every day of our stay. The home seemed clean, so i can't say if it is a kona problem, or they just sprayed. Didn't ask (wouldn't get response) The washer/dryer were small, but nice to have. I only washed 4 towels at a time (didn't want to overfill). So, overall, i would recommend staying here, if they fix the bug problem and have someone reply to messages/ answer calls.

Highly recommend, perfect location.

We really enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. The location was perfect. We slept with just the screen door and it was so nice to hear the crashing waves every morning. The only thing that was an issue is the listing didn’t have a unit number and the front door code was wrong. Thankfully after calling a couple times, I was able to get it straight.

Great Location in Kona

Great location for this property. Wonderful views of the Ocean. We loved the private pool and hot tub, available to the small community. Inside amenities are a bit dated, but everything was functional and useful. We were able to get a late check out that was very much appreciated, as we had a late flight out on our last day.

Superior property for family vacation

Townhome has AC units in BRs AND main areas, which is really important and pretty unusual. It also has an ocean view without facing west (heat of afternoon). You can still watch sunsets from the pool. Property mgt was responsive to requests. Great value!

Love Kona

This was the second time our family stayed here. We love the laid back Kona vibe. The private door to the ocean provides some of the best snorkeling. To bad magic sands beach has gone down hill. So glad the unit had air conditioning!

Excellent location and nice property

Air conditioning worked great! House had all the needed Snorkeling and beach equipment Access to multiple beaches was ideal Only thing that would have been better is the cleaning staff missed some areas. Some towels and toilets were not fully cleaned. The fridge had some dated items that needed to be thrown out. Overall a very good property!

Lovely stay in paradise

The house is situated with a view of the cove from the Lanai, a perfect place for morning coffee or evening drinks. The check-in process was simple. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for two sets of grandparents and a couple with one 11 year old. Most days we had the pool, which was well maintained, to ourselves. It was a good base from which to do our activities. The kitchen was well supplied. It was great having assorted items in the pantry and fridge as we had breakfast and most dinners in. We were surprised and delighted to get a new grill. We had some issues with slow shower drains which the owner promptly addressed. The houses are fairly close together but everyone was very friendly and quiet. There was roofing being done next door but that really wasn't a problem for us. We would definitely stay here again.

Private, quiet, view of ocean, birds singing, lots of green geckos .

The property is lovely. Great views of sunset from pool area. Air conditioning works well. Lots of spices and well supplied for what you need so check before shopping. Water pressure in showers great and beds firm but comfortable. Washer/dryer portables. 2 beach chairs very low to ground. Hot tub/pool hours end 30 minutes after sunset. Property manager very responsive if there is any issue whatsoever. This house feels very private and the birds are singing all day and you can hear the ocean waves. Grill works great. Streaming on tv. Streaming internet does get a bit slow with multiple users (ya may get kicked off and have to get back on). Low flow toilets take some getting used to. Nice quiet dishwasher. For longer stay you will likely have to wash your bathroom towels because there’s one set per person. No extra pillows in bedrooms. One hairdryer in house to share. Otherwise we’ll supplied with paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, etc. . We would book it again but would suggest some Costco beach chairs, maybe or 6 of them to a size of party that can stay in the unit.

Great location!

We had a wonderful vacation and this property is in a central location. Steps from snorkeling, nice pool and near Kona. We appreciated all the snorkel gear, water shoes, and boogie boards provided. Kevin was easy to communicate and responsive. Mahalo for one of the best vacations we have ever had. Can't wait to come back! :)

An amazing stay on the Big Island

Everything about this property met our expectations -- there were no surprises. The ground level has an an open floor plan and flows out onto the lanai. The master bedroom, likewise, faces north and has a wide screen access to a balcony; we loved falling asleep to the crashing waves. The views to the north are over a little inlet. The owner was very responsive to a couple of minor requests. The location is fantastic -- warning the Kailua-Kona area gets quite congested and the access roads are limited -- give yourself time if you must travel north at busy times. Safeway (at less busy times) is about 10 minutes north, otherwise, there's a KTA Super Store about 5 minutes south. There are plenty of restaurants a short drive away. The grounds of the property and pool are well maintained and very clean. Parking was convenient and easy. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would recommend this property to any family, or couples, looking for a self-contained vacation rental.

Aloha! Welcome to Pappy’s Hale Nalu (Grandfather’s Wave House)! Our Pappy traveled the world, but sitting on the lanai in this Kona home was his favorite place to be. Our Pappy visited Kona multiple times a year to train and compete in the Ironman Triathlons. In 2000, he purchased Unit 3 (right behind this unit) but kept his eye on the “developer’s unit” (Unit 4). When it became available in 2005, he purchased it with the dream to have two units to host his family for years to come.

Pappy was the most incredible host. As a triathlete, his days always started early - with an eighty mile bike ride, fifteen mile run, or two mile swim. So, when hosting guests, he’d have us up at sunrise to begin a morning of adventure. Our favorite - paddle boarding across Kealakekua Bay to the Captain Cook monument with dolphins! In the afternoon, we’d lay out and read a book by “the Point” (the grassy area in front of the house and overlooking the ocean) or take a trip to his favorite place of all - Costco! In the evenings, we’d gather each night at the Point to watch the sunset or walk the dogs on the nearby golf course. For dinner, he’d cook us swordfish or fresh ahi tuna, apple tartine for dessert, and pair it all with the best wines. We’d finish the night with a family movie, and all pass out by nine.

Pappy knew how to give everyone the greatest vacation, and we hope to do the same for you - to carry on his legacy with every guest. In June 2022, we lost our Pappy to melanoma at the age of 67. His Hale Nalu (Unit 4) and Unit 3 (Mo'o Chateau) are now owned by his sons. In his last year of life, Pappy became a grandfather. He got to spend two months with his grandson at Hale Nalu while his family was on parental leave. We will treasure those memories forever.
