Lovely Remodeled Beach House Next to Ocean, Hiking & Biking. Very Clean!

CUTE COASTAL HOME on the ocean side of Highway 1 only 40 yards to the entrance of Poplar St. Beach and Open Space. Our home is fully remodeled 3BR+/1 BA. A WALK ON THE BEACH is less than a 5 minute stroll.

COVID-19 Update June 2021 - We continue to disinfect the home between guests. With the reduction of Covid in this area and the availability of vaccinations, we are no longer blocking a night between guests.

Upon arrival, you will discover that just minutes outside your door that you can walk to the BEACH, run/hike OPEN SPACE TRAILS along ocean BLUFFS, and BICYCLE along the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. Less than 15 minutes away are an assortment of beaches perfect for walking, wading, surfing, sunning awaiting your discovery.

Less than 5 minutes by car is downtown Half Moon Bay with its assortment of fantastic, quirky RESTAURANTS; shops; two major grocery stores including an organic option; golf; RITZ-CARLTON HOTEL; spas; hiking trails.

Indoor amenities of our FULLY REMODELED home include a cozy sealed gas fireplace in the living room, whole house furnace for comfy temperatures, updated and fully equipped new kitchen with sea green granite counters, bathroom with a deep tub and beautiful beach themed decorations and lighting.

THREE BEDROOMS include a queen sized bed in the Master Bedroom, full sized bed in Bedroom #2, and a bunkbed with two twin sized mattresses in Bedroom #3. (There is also room for a child's cot.) The living room has a couch that converts to a sofa bed and pocket door that can be closed to create a 4th bedroom area.

Outdoor amenities include an OUTDOOR SHOWER with warm water (perfect for rinsing after beaching or surfing), brand new BBQ GRILL in a fenced backyard, BACKYARD FIREPIT with comfy adirondack chairs, and a pretty natural stone slate patio in the front yard.

KID FRIENDLY home with Graco NEW Pack-N-Play CHILD'S PLAY YARD. Also, kids locks, books, crayons available.

This home and location has a special feel being close to the ocean that is hard to capture in writing. We and our friends love the DESIGN and UNCLUTTERED COMFORT of our beach home and we are confident that you will too. Relax and enjoy! (Check out the GREAT reviews)

Everything we needed was there - all cooking and eating utensils and supplies. Also everything for the bath. The internet signal was strong. The beds were comfortable,. Also the host was easily reached and available. On top of all that, the house is just a block from an exquisite walk along the ocean

Walking distance to the Poplar Beach and the coast trail/bike path, close to the town, and some awesome hiking trails in the hills. Big enough for five of us to stop for a couple of nights, make couple of meals, and continue on our roadtrip.

The location can’t be beat. It was relaxing, off the beaten path, and down town was great. We really enjoyed our stay. It was nice and cool even in the summer and a welcome break from the everyday. The house was neat and clean and everything was well arranged and easy to find. John was a great host and checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.

This property was excellent! The owners are fabulous. The place is a 5 minute walk to the beach. My daughter left her stuffy at the home and we live in Colorado. John was so helpful with trying to reunite her with her stuffy. I highly recommend this property.

The Perfect Beach House Getaway!

As it’s always the case, our stay at 270 Poplar St. was thoroughly enjoyable — this is our third year! It is always fun to enter, unpack, and set up for the meals and family games! Once we were settled in, the comfort and quiet of the neighborhood made us feel entirely at home. The close proximity to the beach makes “beach day” an easy hike for everyone, including the littles. One of the nicest “little” features of the house is the outdoor shower to rinse all the sand off the kids after beach time…very nice. The house is very well appointed in all the rooms, living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The biggest surprise was the new stainless-steel cookware and knives! Prepping and cooking was a blast and easy to clean up. The hosts are so pleasant in their contacts with us, making sure the entire process from check-in to check-out went smooth. We thank them again for sharing their home with us and hope to be back here soon!

Half Moon Bay Getaway

I love Half Moon Bay and this house is perfect! Clean, comfortable, kitchen stocked with cooking essentials, and in a perfect location. The neighborhood is quiet and it’s a short walk to the beach. I try to never miss a sunset! The walk to downtown and to the grocery store is not too far. This was my second year at this location, and I’m planning next years getaway already!

Cannot Recommend Enough- Practically Perfect in Every Way

John and Cathy clearly take pride in this vacation home. It is clean and has just about everything someone could want in a vacation property. The thoughtful extras (beach supplies, laundry bags for delicates, fully-stocked kitchen supplies, kids games, books, etc.) take the already flushed out accommodations to the next level. The communication with John and Cathy was above and beyond all expectations. Their initial communications were clear, thorough and extremely helpful, but it was communications during the stay that made it exceptional. We had a couple things come up while we were there, but they replied and responded promptly. For us, it is great to have a good property, but it is exceptional to have a prompt response when life happens. We cannot recommend this property enough. The location is superb. The hosts are truly caring and extremely professional. The neighborhood is quiet. The town is lovely. We would definitely return here.

We are a family of beach lovers (especially my wife) who enjoy having a beach retreat that is easily accessible to San Francisco, San Jose, and the SF Bay area.

We love this location because it is easy to get to, and it is next to the beach, bike trails, hiking trails and so many ocean activities. We also find the people in Half Moon Bay to be very friendly.

(2) Evening hot dog and marshmallow roasts on the beach
(3) Taking a run along the bluffs and returning along the beach collecting shells.
(4) Biking along the Coastal Trail up to Princeton by the Sea for a seafood meal at Sam's Chowder House or Barabara's Fish Trap (2 local Favorites)
(5) Biking or driving a few minutes to town for a Sunday morning chocolate croissant or Farmers Market (seasonal)
(6) Easy access to Coastal Repertory Live Theater
(7) Enjoying a romantic evening sunset on our beach at the end of our street
(8) Savoring a sunset glass of wine at the Ritz-Carlton hotel while listening to the bagpipers playing the sunset tunes
(9) A cozy nighttime fire in the living room listening to music with the sounds of waves crashing and occasional blares of the foghorns drifting through the windows
