The good: The host was incredibly responsive and quickly addressed issues. The location was fantastic-roughly 20 minutes to almost everything we wanted/needed to do. The home was plenty big enough for the 6 people that stayed and we could have accommodated one or two more comfortably. The bad: The house was filthy. I understand that this is not the host's wish, but ultimately the owner is responsible for making sure the cleaners do their job. The floors had not been vacuumed or mopped, the linens had not been changed (hair and dirt on all of the made beds, the bathtub was still covered in hair from prior people, and the plates had been put away dirty. The dishwasher was broken (which happens at times, not something I'm blaming anyone for), the remotes for the rooms were all in different rooms (we had to play "match the remote to the fan"), one of the remotes was missing, and another remote was missing the backplate. When we arrived after a very long day of travel, we had to sweep up broken pretzel pieces and other detritus to feel comfortable taking our shoes off. The owner sent out the cleaner the next day, but the cleaner still missed numerous items, including a used sucker stick on the tv stand and toys underneath. The only thing the owner offered for our trouble was a late check-out, which was worthless because of our flight time. The house has great potential and the owner was really responsive and apologetic, but the cleanliness issue can't be ignored.
