ARTIST RETREAT - OTTY LAKE, 15 minutes to Historic Perth, Ontario. Artist-designed cottage/home with two bedrooms overhanging this beautiful spring-fed lake, facing south. Be surrounded by Objects D'art, many of which are produced by the owner. Screened-in porch off the master bedroom.

WINTER Access - 2 km well maintained private cottage road. AWD vehical recommended

The Cottage was designed in 1983 by the present owner, Artist Gregori Robinson. Gregori is best know for his commissioned work in Stained Glass.

we were given a tour of the beautiful house. the master bedroom was private from the rest of the house with its own sink and "closet toilet" was what my grandson called it! out of the mouth of a 4yr old perfect. with its own screened in porch my special morning space with my coffee.

The view of the lake was absolutely amazing. In comparison to the other Vrbo cottages this one easily the most gorgeous. The cottage had many rooms filled with stain glass and other artistic artifacts. The host is an accomplished artist and it showed everywhere we looked. The cottage was very clean and the newly installed ac was a true blessing during the recent heatwave. I did mention to the owner he should upgrade his barbecue to a propane model. We spent sooo much time sitting on the deck overlooking the lake and staring at the water. It was very calming.I also must say how kind and helpful our host,Gregori was. He helped us unload the car and pack it again. I have stage 4 aggressive incurable metastatic prostate cancer. He quickly offered to help me with the heavy stuff. Bless his heart. Overall we recommend this cottage for the peace and tranquility it offers. My wife kept saying in the car as we drove off, "I want to come back!"

Magical Environment

Positives: Lovely, well designed and well built cottage. Beautiful views of tranquil Otty Lake. The cottage has everything youā€™ll need for your stay. Gregori, our host, was friendly, helpful, and an interesting guy to talk to. His unique objets dā€™art can be seen throughout the cottage. Itā€™s dog friendly, but be mindful of ticks!We drove into Perth one morning. Itā€™s a special place. Highly recommend.Otty Lake Retreat is near a marshy area, so it does get very buggy. Take your favourite bug deterrent. That being said, there is a comfortable screened in deck where you can enjoy the sounds of loons, tree birds, and frogs while looking out at the glassy lake. The only other thing that we found was that the cottage needed more light, overall.Itā€™s not a place youā€™ll distance swim, but it was pleasant to go for a quick dip now and then. Thank you, Gregori. We enjoyed our stay.

Otty Lake Retreat

Rented for 5 days over Labour Day weekend. Greg met us and walked us through the property. We had access to the main level and the upper loft. Downstairs where Gregā€™s studio is located was understandably off limits. The property was unclean and lacked some of the basic essentials.. Kitchen utensils were sparse. Dishes/cups were mix mismatched some chipped.Serving dishes were dirty. No garbage bags. Charcoal BBQ was unexpected. Safety concerns including no smoke detector, railing off the living area was low and unstable.Outside terrain was very uneven , not suitable for children or older adults. Broken chair and old tire waiting to go to the dump as you walked onto the property. No picnic table or ability to eat outside. Use of a canoe was great. Kayak on the property was off limits. Bedding and towels were very old and faded and miss matched.. Toilets were unclean.. Host was attentive but was nervous about activity on the property and noise. This property was likely stunning in its day but tired needing maintenance. I spoke to Greg about everything. I have listed above. The rental price has increased but would require upgrades to warrant the increase

Wonderful Host!

My wife and I were looking for a lakeside cottage in Canada to recharge and relax when I spotted 508 Otty Lake Road! The cottage turned out to be a magnificent 3-story lake house literally 5 yards from the shoreline with 3 decks, including a screened one off the master bedroom. The lake was like glass the 3 days we stayed so we canoed around a nearby beautiful island while spending hours of solitude on the porch and peaceful strolls down the country road out front. The host was uber hospitable and stopped by daily to offer his homemade smoothies and put H2O softener tablets in the basement unit. We traveled to nearby Perth to dine nightly and walk its quaint and peaceful streets. The linens are older so consider bringing your own. Cleanliness is subjective, but IMHO somewhat lacking at this location, most likely due to the enormity of the structure coupled with the hostā€™s recent infirmity. We highly recommend this gourmet property to anyone needing a tranquil pause from their challenging pace of life!!

Nature and beautiful artistic property

Spectacular verandas and wonderful views of lake. Lake water is very clean but swimmers should be aware of weeds around dock. Stairs were an issue for one member.of our duo, so she couldnā€™t get to the dock, sadly. Cottage could use a deep clean, ie shower, fridge, cutlery drawers, but beds, linens were clean. Otherwise, highly recommend this place, for adults.

Amazing spot

Had a wonderful relaxing time in this lovely cottage. Gregory is a master stained glass artist and his works fill his home with such character. It was a wonderful place to unwind and spend time on the water. It exceeded my expectations.

A wonderful, quiet getaway

The property is charming and nicer than we were actually expecting. We had regular communication with Gregori, who even offered some above and beyond service in case our vehicle had troubles with the private road (when he suggests a 4x4 vehicle, there is good reason). The bed is one of the more comfortable Iā€™ve ever slept on and the bedrooms (like the rest of the place) are well appointed. I hope to return and experience the property in another season. We saw a number of deer, as well as a snow owl, some blue jays and a lot of loons out on the lake. Iā€™d be curious to see what we spot in the spring. A 100% endorsement without reservation.

Perfect getaway

We had a very relaxing week at this quiet, lovely cottage. The views from both decks are gorgeous; we loved watching the sun rise over the lake. The cottage has everything we needed and is minutes from Perth. We would recommend it.

Perfect for all Nature Enthusiasts!

A wonderful cozy cottage with gorgeous artistic accents throughout. It boasts a tastefully decorated living area with a lot of handcrafted items from the host. The vistas from the two decks are just breathtaking. One of the two decks is screened in, so it is a perfect place to escape the mosquitos in the evening and listen to the owls and loons after dark or spend time outdoors if it rains. This is truly a place to be for all nature and wild life enthusiasts. We spent hours on the dock and deck watching and photographing the beautiful wildlife and birds in this area including bald eagles, hummingbirds, common terns, herons, ospreys, muskrat, water snakes, snapping turtles and so much more. The host provides a canoe so you can enjoy all the beautiful views from the lake. We had a marvelous stay and if you truly want to relax, unwind and enjoy peace and quiet, then this is the place for you!

Summer getaway

Loved the cottage. Loved all the art. Loved being right on the water - plus two balconies and a dock to look out at the water. I suggest bringing bug spray. Very buggy at night, but that's what you get when you stay in the middle of the woods on a lake. One of the balconies is screened in, which is nice. I also recommend bringing bubble bath to use in the clawfoot bathtub. There was some discrepancy with the pricing - the page said the additional guest fee is $20 and the pet fee is $10, but when I paid, it was $60 for the additional guest and $30 for the pet fee.

Very pleasant stay

We enjoyed swimming and canoeing, and relaxing on either of the two balconies overlooking the lake. Late risers might like to bring eye shades for the early morning sun streaming in to the bedroom. Greg was quick to help us with any questions.
