Great location on a budget and very clean place!

Very clean! It is the perfect location on a budget. Close to all the towns, beaches. The tours Natassja conducts are amazing! I never knew Barbados had so much history. We saw the major attractions thanks to Natassja in the tour. The beds are super comfortable and the hosts were very pleasant. This is my third time staying here and Natassja makes sure each experience is unique and different from the others. I absolutely love this place.

neat and clean

Maxwell and Dover is where the home is located. Very close to the bus stop and taxis often were just a minute or two before one went by. ten minutes to the Beach by Salt Ash. A little nicer Beach a few more minutes away. The market at 3rd and Dover is good for quick pickups of water and snacks for beach. The market by Oistins is just a short bus ride away. Shaun and Cherese checked in on us and gave us our first ride down there. If you have not been there before study the lay of the land It will save you in the long run when you arrive. The home itself is cozy and for the most part basic. the wifi was excellent and tv ok, but we only watched news before going out and a bit before bed. As we became accustomed to Island time we realized we really did not need much. there are a lot of places to eat and drink and we thought the prices affordable and fit any budget. We did make breakfast in house most mornings. And make sure you try fish bites everyday. You will miss them when you leave. Sharky's had some of the best. there is a family food wagon around the corner on Dover and Fiona and her family serve great Rotis, and Bakes. there are other selections too. But hey sell out early. Natassja seems to be upgrading the house and is striving to make it as comfortable as possible. Don't worry about the neighbors or neighborhood. Everyone was very friendly and greeted you as you went by. Oistins is obvious but take a chance at the smaller places also. Drinks are less expensive and if you do not stop you will miss interacting with the locals. Lastly get out. We did Distillery tours. Get out to Foursquare, rapidly becoming number one in the world for boutique rums. And St. Nicholas Abbey is not to be missed. Both have rums hard to get anywhere else. We look forward to returning asap.

Felt like we were in the wrong house!

Don’t be taken in by staged photos and description. Once you get over the awe of staying in an Alexa controlled house, you have to accept what… Management team SAY are minor, micro deficiencies. How could this be the house with a fully functional kitchen “where guests can cook their own meals”? No place to store groceries; cupboards full of personal items including a lady’s thong. Pots were dirty, food stuck on them. Drawer of jumbled utensils, not one kitchen utility knife. Had an old broken can opener, took management days to replace. No tea towels, eventually received 2 small tea towels. No hot water in the kitchen. Dishes & cutlery were greasy & dirty. Dishes, pots and cutlery washed/rinsed under cold tap water, probably air dried, would have food remnants & be greasy. No casserole dishes, microwave/storage containers. No starter kit. Waist high grass, needed goats/. No shade a stony yard adorned by 7 huge tree stumps. Umbrella fell over when we opened it. Management say it must have been damaged during December storm. Had Management checked property since December? Felt intimidated by Management Team, didn’t report: Kettle broke mid Feb ,Gas igniter not replaced, Kitchen curtains kept falling off rusty broken holder. Shower drain is plugged; showering in ankle deep in grungy water. Kitchen sink drains slowly, has a noxious odor. Owners absence might account for some of the problems we encountered. Documented with photos.

It is highly recommended that caution be exercised when considering renting to Pat and her husband due to their displayed unappreciative and unreasonable behavior. Their communication prior to their stay indicated an urgent need to vacate their previous location, prompting an early check-in by one day granted without charge. Unfortunately, the couple showed a tendency for incessant complaints and unwarranted demands from the onset of their stay. Despite our best efforts to accommodate the guests by providing them with the requested tea towels and promptly replacing the can opener with two new ones, they continued to express dissatisfaction over trivial matters. When a strong storm caused the backyard umbrella to fall, we instructed our workers to remove it promptly. However, the guests refused to grant access to the worker, citing concerns that the female housekeeper was wearing inappropriate footwear and lacked the necessary physical strength to undertake such a task because she is a woman. These comments demonstrate gender bias and are not acceptable in any professional setting. A) Furthermore, the guests' behavior regarding the grass on the property was problematic. While the property is regularly maintained, a period of rainfall caused the grass to grow in week 2/3 of their stay. Despite this being a natural occurrence, the guests continually harassed the property management team, suggesting the purchase of goats to keep the grass low. Their unreasonable expectations and demands demonstrate a lack of understanding and appreciation for the natural cycles of the environment. B) The guest stated that her husband's survival was hinged on the provision of a can opener. Upon checkout, we recognized that the can opener was operational and cited ours as a relic. She relentlessly harassed the management team with minor complaints, prompting a formal letter expressing disappointment in the unreasonable nature of her demands. Please note, not to cease and desist but expressed disappointment with her ‘Karen’ like behavior. The couple further expressed discontent with a gas stove and oven that required lighting, which was promptly addressed with the provision of matches, but the quality of the matches was found unsatisfactory. C) We vehemently deny the alleged discovery of misplaced underwear in the kitchen, as we have an established and rigorous protocol for cleaning and organizing the property after each guest's departure. Our protocol includes photographing and conducting live calls with cleaners to ensure that the space is thoroughly cleaned and organized especially since Covid-19. Several reasons support our rejection of this allegation. Firstly, the contents of the cabinet in the kitchen were not in the same organized state they were originally found, with items sprawled on the kitchen floor in a disorganized and discombobulated manner. This is not in keeping with the housekeeper's usual method of organization, as we have photographic evidence to demonstrate. Additionally, the fact that the guest's husband was holding and touching the said underwear raises further concerns regarding the veracity of this allegation. This allegation was not immediately brought to the attention of the property owners, housekeepers, or management, which is highly unusual given our commitment to promptly and professionally addressing any guest concerns. The concern regarding taking a shower with dysfunctional plumbing, it is important to note that we advise all guests not to run the washing machine and shower simultaneously to prevent any plumbing issues. However, it appears that this particular issue was not brought to our attention during the guest's stay. It is our policy to promptly address any concerns or issues that are reported to us by guests, and we regret that we were not made aware of this matter at the time. However, the guest cites because of our letter of disappointment she felt intimidated not to report these issues. D) It is important to note that the kettle provided to the guest was a brand new model acquired in October and was tested and confirmed to be in proper working condition prior to the guest's arrival. Our standard practice involves conducting thorough checks of all appliances and electronics in order to preempt any potential issues that may arise during a guest's stay. It is possible that the black residue found in the kettle was caused by misuse or inappropriate handling by the guest themselves. Once again, this matter was brought to our attention only after check out. E) During their initial reservation of the property last year, the guest expressed their sentiments that it may potentially be their final visit to Barbados. In light of this information, my team and I took the initiative to organize a farewell package for them as a gesture of appreciation for their 40 years of annual travel to Barbados. Subsequently, the farewell was revoked due to their demanding and disrespectful behavior towards the staff. Their actions and conduct did not align with the standards of professionalism and mutual respect that we strive to maintain. F) Moreover, the guest's grievances about the curtains, cats next door giving birth, and wild chickens on the property evince their lack of appreciation and acceptance of the local environment and culture. It is indeed peculiar that a couple who had been frequenting Barbados annually for over 40 years would express discontent over common occurrences in the island's environment, such as having to light gas stoves and encountering freely roaming animals. H) The guest referenced the letter we previously sent regarding our dismay at the multitude of minor grievances that were frequently expressed, sometimes resulting in daily harassment. In the letter, we clarified that we would only address issues of substantive importance. Notably, the complaints included trivial matters such as the choice of tea towels versus paper towels or dissatisfaction with an older can opener. This letter of disappointment and not to cease and desist was continually used as an excuse to not report important issues such as plumbing and the issue of the kettle. In addition, the disrespectful commentary about our staff members in writing, in particular, was also unacceptable. It is important to note that this is a self-catering property, and while we make every effort to provide the necessary items for our guests' comfort, we cannot account for every personal preference or desire. However, if the proper inquiry was carried out prior to booking, we would have accommodated you with ‘tea towels’ and other items. Taken from the statement we sent on February 7, 2023 “Moreover, when we commenced in 2016, we have never encountered so many micro complaints that do not involve the immediacy or compromise the value of your basic needs. Therefore, to state that we falsely advertise is in itself a false and untrue statement. We do not appreciate blatant untrue accusations. As we have transparently provided the intricate détails of the house so future guests will know what to expect. Quite frankly, We are disappointed at the level of minor complaints that have been given because the entire housekeeping and management team went… have gone above and beyond with no recognition. We hope you continue to have a safe and enjoyable stay.” Upon careful reflection of the interactions with the aforementioned guest and their unsettling display of entitlement, it is my professional opinion that their actions and demeanor may indicate latent racial biases and undertones. Therefore, I recommend exercising prudence in extending rental accommodations to this individual in the future. It is imperative that we uphold an atmosphere of inclusivity and respect for all individuals, irrespective of their ethnicity or background, in the hospitality industry.

Good value, bright and comfortable.

Natassja has a lovely, open house, comfortable, well cared for and clean. She was available and solicitous, and concerned about our comfort. The house is centrally located, an easy and short bus ride from anything on the south coast, and walking distance to the beach and action on the Gap. The house is on the main road, so if you are sensitive to traffic noise you might be bothered, but we all slept well!
