Thank you for your review. I do want to clarify a few points for future guests. The only checkout requirements for guests are to place used towels in the laundry basket and wash, dry, and put away dishes. The house manual contains helpful information about the home, but it is not a “long list of rules and requirements.” After checkout, the property required additional cleaning beyond the time normally included in the cleaning fee. There was significant sand throughout the space, stained towels, and heavy furniture that had been moved and needed to be returned to its proper location. I provided photos and documentation to VRBO. The additional $42 was the cleaner’s actual additional one-hour charge, not an arbitrary fee, and went directly to the cleaner. The $15 charge was the documented replacement cost for a missing air-mattress cover. Neither charge was a “money grab,” as I did not profit from either one. I understand that guests may have different expectations about what constitutes normal checkout cleaning, but these charges were based on the condition in which the property was left and were submitted with supporting documentation.

Thank you for staying with us. We were surprised by the rating, as we accommodated the guest’s check-in request and had no communication regarding any concerns during the stay. Unfortunately, there was damage to a rug and towels that required reimbursement, which we handled through VRBO after first attempting to resolve the matter directly, with no response from the guest. Since no written feedback was provided, we unfortunately don’t know what would have made the stay a higher-rated experience. We strive to provide a positive experience for every guest and are always happy to address concerns when they are brought to our attention.

Since no written feedback was provided, we unfortunately don’t know what would have made the stay a higher-rated experience. During the stay, we accommodated an additional guest by providing access to an extra bedroom, supplied additional towels, and purchased an additional AC unit and a drying rack. There was also a major storm during the stay that caused widespread power outages, including approximately half a day without power at our property. I stayed in communication with the guests with updates as information became available and provided a flashlight for their use. We’re always happy to address concerns during a stay, and we appreciate guests letting us know if there is anything we can do to make their experience better.
