Perfect gem in Petty Harbour

My stay at the Nest surpassed all expectations. The property is perfectly situated in the charming village with stunning views over the harbour. Karen and David have created a cosy, welcoming haven, a perfect blend of style and comfort.Everything is immaculate... modern bathroom, super comfy bed with fine linens, imaginative coastal decor. Ambitious chefs will love the fully equipped kitchen, however I preferred to feast on the amazing seafood at Chafe’s Landing, just a short walk down the hill. There is plenty to enjoy just relaxing in Petty Harbour but equally it is well situated for exploring further afield and is a short scenic drive into St John’s. From the first contact, Karen and David were thoughtful, friendly, responsive hosts and I was glad to share a glass of wine with Karen and thank her personally for a wonderful stay.

Exactly as advertised. Met all our expectations plus more. Such a peaceful friendly spot that is still within a quick drive to St.Johns.

Loved it from the moment we arrived!

We stayed in the Lower Nest and it was just perfect for us. It has everything that we needed for our vacation. We enjoyed our breakfast on the deck in the mornings as we watched activities in the harbour and then our beverage of choice on the deck again in the evenings after amazing hikes on the East Coast Trail, and trips around the area including a visit to Ferryland, La Manche Village and Cape Spear. Very convenient to St. John's. The staff and food at Chafe's Landing were a delight. Would recommend this property to anyone and have already.

It truely is a "Sure" lark!

A wonderful spot out of the city but near enough. A quiet, well equipped apartment with a great porch, view and owners. Easy access to St Johns but far enough to feel "remote". A short walk to a wonderful cafe and restaurant. Lots to do nearby, or by a short drive, and the locals are wonderful to engage with. Sitting at the cafe can occupy several hours a day or just sit on the porch and watch.

Nesting in Petty Harbour

We loved coming here at the end of the day as your ‘Nest’ and Petty Harbour seem to hold the very best of all we took in. Thanks for providing the perfect ‘Nest’ for our first time to Newfoundland. We loved every moment of our touring all the beautiful coves and harbours. We loved coming here at the end of the day as your ‘Nest’ and Petty Harbour seem to hold the very best of all we took in. We were blessed with great people, great views, large and small icebergs, whales, puffins, and great food–and nice photos and remembrances to take home. We appreciate the great outfitting of this perfect ‘Nest’ and all the good information along the way. Praying God’s best to you in your adventures.

A great retreat in Petty Harbour NL

We stayed ar ShoreLark for a week- a lot of the time just sitting on the balcony overlooking the harbour, gazing out to sea. The apartment was very well equipped for cooking and it was comfortable and spacious. Karen and David were welcoming hosts and their directions to find ShoreLark were perfect. A copy of Alan Doyle's book was on the coffee table and we really enjoyed walking around the town, picking out the spots he talked about. 2 great hiking trails close by and a 15' drive into St John's.

Such a sweet retreat!

My husband Josh and I have had the pleasure of staying at Shorelark on two separate occasions. One being in the lower nest and the next on the upper nest. Karen was such a great person to communicate with, helping with any questions we had and even giving us suggestions on what her and David's favourite places to dine are. Newfoundland was always on the top of my wish list of places to travel. Staying in Petty Harbour at the Shorelark really was like the icing on the cake. Waking up and sitting on the deck with a coffee in hand looking over the harbour and ocean was almost like a dream come true. We loved it so much, we came back 3 years later. During this time we enjoyed seeing my very first iceberg, saw a mother and baby seal in the next cove over, and watched whales in the harbour from the deck. Thanks for allowing us to stay in such a sweet little retreat in a gem of a location. We look forward to our next visit.

just what was advertised and more

The best thing that we did to plan this visit to was contact the host and hostess directly by phone. They gave us the feeling that we would be welcome. What is seen on their web site worked well. We had to find it in the dark ,and we knew we were home because we recognized it from the photos.It is all there as they describe, nothing is needed for the visit . We would go to this place again ,if the opportunity ever presents it self. A quaint place ,only 20 minutes from down town St.Johns NFLD

"We could easily have spent our entire vacation here in Petty Harbour"

Guests: Kerry & Larry Dates of stay: August 17-23, 2016 The rumours are true! Newfoundland is absolutely beautiful and the people are warm and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Nest. We enjoyed starting each day with a bowl of blueberries and yogourt, listening to the gulls and surf and watching the fishing boats return to the harbour. We could easily have spent our entire vacation here in Petty Harbour. Thank you Karen and David for providing such wonderful accommodations and welcoming us to your little piece of heaven.

Quaint Petty Harbour

Had a great stay at Shorelark, the owners were very friendly and accommodating and the unit had everything we needed and more. Great for a perfect short drive into St John's; or the village itself had things to do for entertainment. There are a couple of nice spots to eat and Jigging for cod is a must! We also enjoyed the hands-on aquarium.

Beautiful place in Petty Harbour

We recently stayed in the Upper Nest for a week and we loved it! Karen and David (thanks for the various recommendations!) have created a truly amazing home away from home that is spacious, clean, well appointed, and beautifully designed. The view from the deck is incredible, and we spent countless hours out there watching all of the activity in the harbor and soaking in the sights. Petty Harbour itself is small and quiet, but has a very good restaurant (Chafe’s Landing), a great coffee shop (watershed Coffee Shop), and easy access to two trailheads on the East Coast Trail (one of which is just a quick walk up the street from the Upper and Lower Nests). It is also close to St. John’s and offers easy access to points farther south. This was our first trip to Newfoundland and we loved it so much. What made the trip really special, though, was our stay in the Upper Nest. We highly recommend this! Jon and Erika

Bird's eye view from the nest

Shorelark by the Sea, in the quaint community of Petty Harbour is a wonderful alternative to staying in St. John's. The fishing harbour is the perfect stepping stone to visiting the south shore or the big city. Karen and David have done an impressive job of creating a beautiful home away from home, and have thought of everything. The views from the deck are exceptional and it allowed us to get a feel for life in a small fishing community. It also has one of the best fish restaurants in the area, which one must visit. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. We will be back! Annie and Rick
