We liked the personal check-in and explaining the house to us. While we had a shorter stay then we're accustomed, the location was great. We slept well and enjoyed our visit. We definitely return.

Bird Rock Gem

Great for a group of 6! Kitchen is fabulous for cooking and hanging out, roof deck views are epic, location is 10/10

Our trip was basically ruined because the property management did not tell us about the ongoing construction next door. The photos on the vrbo site show an ocean view from the property, especially from the upstairs master and balcony, with a single-level home in front. There is no mention of construction anywhere on the listing. When we arrived what we found was completely different from what was described and shown in the pictures . There is now a large house that is much higher than this one under construction next door in front, completely blocking the view. There is scaffolding around the construction house, including right next to the master bedroom, with workers able to look into the bedroom windows when they are there, which happened several times. There were multiple workers every day with pounding and power tools, sawing, etc., beginning every day at 7:00AM through the afternoons, including Saturday. We were not told of the construction or the blocked ocean view when we reserved this property. We selected this house because of the view and location. It was definitely falsely represented. Had we known, we would have booked another property. But they did not give us the courtesy of giving this information to allow us to make another reservation. We complained immediately. Ultimately the management company agreed to refund half of the rental, but not including the service fees or other owner fees. This did not solve the issue for me.

Unfortunately this rental is a summer only home and we did not know how much the construction impacted the home until our first guests of the season! We've since updated photos, corrected the listing and offered great discounts to those who would still like to stay in this fantastic location! Guests who have stayed in the last month have not been bothered by noise and still get to be close to the ocean/la Jolla in this desirable part of town!

Fashionable more than functional

Let's start with the good as there was a lot of good. The backyard is large and inviting, The bed swing on the back porch is inspirationally fun, comfortable, and relaxing. The interior decorator has an impressive sense of style. You are surrounded by interesting focus points that are eclectic and unique without it feeling loud or overbearing. It is also at Bird Rock. A beautiful beach community surrounded by attractions of all types. The master shower is also glorious. I took more showers than necessary just to relax under high flow, large diameter rain shower head and appreciated the heating system.However.... There were definitely some issues worth mentioning. There were some pretty self-evident and straight-forward problems such as the non-functional washer, the ant problem in the kitchen, and the uneven cooling between upstairs and downstairs.None of that compares to the thing we disliked most of all though, the house is easily the least private one I have ever stayed in. I felt like I was I was the key attraction of a Menagerie. Combine that with furniture that seems to sacrifice comfort for style without reluctanc, and we found oursel

Thank you for your thoughtful review and for highlighting so many of the features that make our home special. We're so glad you enjoyed the spacious backyard, the relaxing bed swing, the unique decor, and the primary shower—we agree, that rain shower is hard to walk away from! We were surprised to hear about some of the concerns you mentioned, as no issues were brought to our attention during your stay. We always encourage guests to reach out if anything comes up so we can resolve it immediately. In cases like a washer not functioning or pest concerns, we would have gladly taken care of them right away. Regarding privacy, the home is located in a quiet beach community, it’s fully fenced and equipped with both curtains and blinds throughout for guests to use as needed. Most guests find it to be a peaceful and private retreat.
