Sobre o anfitrião
Anfitrião: Marilyn
We’re Marilyn and Gary — high school sweethearts, happily married for 56 years. Marilyn is a lifelong artist, and Gary is a green building consultant. We raised our three daughters here at Hale Keo Keo and now have the joy of watching our seven granddaughters grow up with the same salty hair, sandy toes, and magical memories this bay has always offered.
For the past 28 years, this home has been our family’s sanctuary — a place of celebration, creativity, and deep rest. Built in 1910, Hale Keo Keo has weathered storms, watched sea turtles return year after year, and held the laughter of four generations. We’ve preserved it with love, care, and reverence for its history, and it brings us true joy to share it with guests who will appreciate its spirit.
While you’re here, you’ll be greeted not just by ocean breezes and swaying palms — but by our two beloved outdoor kitties, who live on the property and think of themselves as co-hosts. They're friendly, low-maintenance, and deeply loyal to the land. We simply ask that guests keep an eye on their food and water during their stay — a small act of care that helps keep the home feeling warm and alive.
We only open Hale Keo Keo for part of the year, but when we do, it’s our way of extending our family’s aloha. We hope you feel the peace and presence of this home as deeply as we do.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade
We’ve traveled the world, but nowhere compares to Kawela Bay. It’s rare, quiet, and deeply magical. The moment you pass through the gates, it’s like stepping into a hidden sanctuary — wrapped in turquoise water, whispering palms, and the gentle rhythm of island life. The bay itself is calm year-round, protected by an outer reef, which makes it perfect for paddleboarding, swimming, or just floating and watching the sea turtles nap on the shore.
Just a short walk from the house, through a stunning forest of ancient banyan trees, you’ll find Turtle Bay Resort — where you can enjoy dining, live music, sunset drinks, golf, or a relaxing spa day. But honestly, most of our guests tell us they never want to leave the bay.
What we love most is the feeling this place gives you. The home is colorful and full of stories — from its century-old walls to the art and treasures tucked throughout. It holds history and heart. It’s not fancy in the way a hotel is — it’s better. It’s real. It’s Hawaii. And that’s why so many of our guests return year after year.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?
Hale Keo Keo is truly one of a kind. It’s not just a beachfront home — it’s the only historic home built directly on the sand along the entire North Shore of Oʻahu. That alone makes it incredibly rare. Perched on a seawall constructed by the military in the 1940s, it extends farther out onto the beach than any other property in the region. From the deck, you feel like you’re standing on the bow of a ship, surrounded by the sea.
But the magic goes beyond location. Built in 1910 from ironwood lumber preserved right here in the bay, the home is rich with Hawaiian history. It has served as a WWII bunker, a coastal stop for early train travelers, and a beloved family retreat for generations. Today, it blends its original architectural charm with thoughtful updates — offering a stay that’s both timeless and deeply comfortable.
Guests don’t just visit Hale Keo Keo — they step into a living piece of Hawaiʻi’s past. It’s peaceful, soulful, and unlike anywhere else on the island. That’s why so many of our guests return year after year: not just for the beach, but for the feeling of being part of something truly special.
