Lazy J Basin- Secluded Retreat with Mountain Views

If you're seeking privacy and seclusion, this mountain retreat is the one for you! Located about three-quarters of a mile up the Logan Mountain slope, you will find quiet solitude with a great view of the Absaroka Mountain range. Elk and mule deer are hunted in season around this forty-acre compound and the adjoining federal lands. Guests with horses return year after year to enjoy riding the 100's of miles of trails in the immediate area.. At Lazy J Basin, nineteenth century privacy meets twenty-first century amenities and comfort! Note: there is not wifi at the cabin

When entering this cabin, you are welcomed by an open floor plan with a gas fireplace and fantastic views through the windows. The kitchen is fully equipped with all your cooking needs. The kitchen does have a mini fridge, but for additional cold goods, there is a full-size refrigerator. For guest convenience there is a washer and dryer. Newly installed mini-split air conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable during the summer months. Bedroom 1 is located in the loft and has a queen bed. You enter the bedroom 2 through the bathroom and has a full bed. Bedroom 3 has twin bunk beds. The bathroom has a step-in shower. Make this one of kind property your home away from home on your next trip to the wild west.

Nice house on very private property - great getaway if you want to really get away! Location was a bit hard to find, especially without cell service, but we eventually found it. Plenty of space for our family of 4 and plenty of property to roam too!

Had an amazing stay! Beautiful location with beautiful views! We had a lovely time in the peaceful cabin! Loved that it was tucked away from everyone and everything! Enjoyed the wonderful land and found some animal bones! Kids thoroughly loved being here away from it all too! Hope to be back someday!

Nice place. Secluded. Overall good experience.No wifi. Not a deal breaker for us. Its nice to not use electronics. But we didn't know. No signal of any type in the cabin. For TV or phones. Should maybe have a land line for emergencies.The directions to the cabin are not accurate at all. Extremely hard to find. Consider adding a satellite image with more accurate information.

Cabin

Our overall experience was great with the only exception is the feeling of being detached from the world, which don’t get me wrong, some people do look for. I made the mistake and misread the listing and was under the impression that there was going to be WiFi, which wasn’t a problem for the adults. As for my 13 year old nephew, he’s never lived in a world without WiFi, which was pretty amusing to witness.

Fantastic Retreat in the Hills

Booked this stay to visit Yellowstone and the town of Cody. Have 2 teenagers who really enjoyed the peace and quiet and ability to disconnect from electronics. The family was able to spend quality time together in the most beautiful setting and relax. We loved our stay there and look forward to coming back. Close to Yellowstone, Cody and many things in between to keep us busy! Thank you for a wonderful time. The Coovert-Weden Family

A true mountain oasis

My family of 4 drove here from Minnesota in our Wrangler, bought some cowboy hats and then traversed our way into the mountains of Wyoming off the beaten path of a beaten path to find this little ranch house; fully equipped with a place to park your jeep (or your horse). One of my favorite amenities was that their was no wifi and you could hardly get reception - forced us to play games and talk to each other... it was amazing. Quick word of caution, try to check-in before nightfall as it's a little tricky to see the signage and some of the landmarks for the turn. We highly recommend!

Nice location

We enjoyed the location of the property, including the secluded area and the spectacular views. Just be warned that the bathroom, specially the shower, is anything but spacious. Also, we had a mouse problem when we were in the home. Which I’m sure is something homes In this area are prone to but it was not fun walking on pins and needles waiting for the mice to come out in front of you. They had been there a while because there was several areas of mouse droppings in the downstairs rooms, including the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. Overall, it was a lovely stay and great location.

Awe striking and private

Beyond expectations based on setting. Clean and well kept. A bit daunting to find and g00gle maps takes you wrong way for “driveway”. If you are approaching for the first time and feel like you’re driving through a quarry, then you’re in the right spot. Drive toward then past the storage building. It’s steep everywhere you walk, but views are wonderful. Nits: reccomend 4x4 for higher clearance over weeds in driveway, small shower in single bath, no dishwasher, no internet but my ATT cellular worked enough for video chat. Giggles: great ambiance, horse facilities, well appointed, clean, 3 bedrooms, potable water, killer views (3 large buck deer passed thru).

Beautiful view, but had issues with mice

We booked this stay last minute after the last Cody renter cancelled on us the night before our stay. Check in was at 4PM and after asking they were not able to get us in before that due to cleaning, which was understandable. We checked in around 4PM and upon getting all of our belongings in and looking around I noticed mouse droppings. I gave the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were missed while cleaning. At night you could see plenty of cobwebs as well, just noting about cleanliness, but the bathroom/bedrooms were clean.The next morning we found several mouse droppings and holes in the food we had bought the day before as well as holes in some of our plastic bags that were beside our travel bags. I contacted the renter and mentioned there were mice and they said they'd bring a trap. I asked to bring more since it looked like there was more than one mouse from what we were seeing. I assumed they would set the traps but they left them for us to set stating they didn't want the kids to not know where they were. We set two traps inside and after lights were out caught two right away. We swore we heard more scurrying around but didn’t want to mess with the traps and resetting while our kids were sleeping. Overall I will say the view is great, but if you are looking to relax and not worry about mice, I would look elsewhere. I do think there is a mouse problem here and that they didn't just sneak in based off of the amount of mouse droppings we found behind the oven.

Gorgeous views!!

Amazing views and privacy galore. Well-kept cabin with a warm feel. We were a little uncertain that we were on the right road leading up to the cabin. Just keep going. We timed it and it took a little under 5 mins from the main road to reach the cabin. The bedroom layout is unique but the views and privacy are worth it! There’s also no wifi. For our family, a few days away from wifi was exactly what we needed! Thank you for a great stay and we hope to visit again in the future!!

Mountain retreat

Beautiful mountain cabin! We loved staying here, it was a short drive to Downtown Cody and a great location to travel to Yellowstone.

Family of 4 with kiddos loved it!

Our family visited Yellowstone for a few days and this was an amazing place. Our kiddos ages 7 & 9 loved it just as much as we did. Cell service was minimal which is a great thing these days… but if you plan to work remotely here don’t plan on it. We enjoyed taking some hikes around the property. The reviews were accurate about trying to come in during the daylight as at night could be a challenge. You’d never even know this place is there. Just loved it!
