Located in Tahoe Donner, by old town Truckee, this 4700 sq. ft. home is fully furnished and nicely equipped. It comes with cozy living room with fire place,
extended dining table with bright chandelier, modern kitchen with breakfast nook on the main floor. The majestic Great Room upstairs with cathedral ceiling and brick-walled fireplace can hold an assembly of family members or even a nice seminar! With its being close to most ski resorts and activities in Lake Tahoe, this place is ideal for family reunions and retreats too.

Accommodation: 6+ Bedrooms with 2 kings, 3 queens, 1 full, 11 singles + a convertible bed that sleeps up to 22 adults and children.
Kitchen: Beautiful and spacious, it comes with granite countertops, a 5-burner gas range and other top of the line appliances. Cooking utensils, cookware, dishware, glassware and silverware are all provided.
Laundry: One extra-capacity washer and two dryers.
Facilities: Internet, WiFi, TV, jetted tub in the master bathroom, community pools, restaurant, exercise room and other Club House facilities.
Winter season snow clearing service is provided by Element Mountain company (https://elementsmtn.co/) since 2012.

We had a great time and will definitely come back!

This house was perfect for a ski weekend with friends and family. Great location and very comfortable for a large group. The owner was great to work with and really accommodating. We loved it and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Truckee Family Vacation

The property was perfect for our large group. There were several different common areas and plenty of room to spread out. Our only complaint was the condition of the outside deck. It was quite large and needed repairs in several areas.

Family vacation

There were 14 people consisting of family members ranging from 8-85 years old. The house was well equipped and accommodated us easily. Unfortunately, the kitchen was greasy and sticky including dishes, pots and pans and cutlery.

Truckee mini vacation

Many of the same issues Lauri B, reported on her review in 2021.. We stay in the home for 3 days.... is a pretty big home well equipped for large families.. However, the garage was full of trash which seemed to be there for weeks... this gives the entrance a a bad smell. The kitchen cabinets where very dusty we had to wash dishes, cookware and utensils before using them. The home is very dusty, no cleaning supplies such as (brooms or vacuums) where available for us. The sheets, blankets and pillows, did not appeared or smell as there were clean. The beds were not comfortable at all.. the televisions only play Netflix's, they have like 10 remote controls but they don't work.

The Worst/The Best

This feedback is being left so others will be aware of the good and bad of the property before they book. The Worst: The property was absolutely filthy and run down. The bathrooms had body hair from previous guests on the floor and mold growing in three showers. The kitchen was decently clean, but the rest of the property was gross. We did our best to ignore the grime on multiple walls, carpets, bed sheets, etc. We expected a bit more, considering we were charged a large cleaning fee. The Best: The property owner was incredible! We had issues with the wifi early on, but he fixed it within the hour. We also sent him pictures of the grime-ridden bathrooms, and he sent out cleaners. The cleaners were extremely rude and didn't arrive at the agreed time. I think they took offense that we wanted the human hair and mold cleaned up because they stayed 10 minutes and then said they were too busy. They told us they would have to remove the shower doors to clean the mold in the tracks...What?? They were full of excuses. This place needs a good cleaning, and this is coming from a guy that isn't super picky...at all! Finally, the TVs don't work (a dozen remotes don't do anything). Also, you may want to bring paper towels, bath towels, and sheets to the property.

Nice area and nice home

This place was very cute and cozy. The place was clean spacious on each of the three floors. There were plenty of cookwares, dishes, bowls, utensils for our big party. The grill was a nice amenity for us since we brought our own meat to cook and Safeway was just a couple of miles away. The outside area was nice for a hangout with all the kids and adults. The owner responded to my questions promptly and seemed nice. Donner Memorial State Park was a couple miles away, and we enjoyed our time at the beach a lot. I would give the place 5 stars, except there were a few things that could be improved on. First of all, when we first got there, the side door by the garage was left wide open. We didn't know if someone was still inside or if it was broken in. The men had to do a full sweep of the place for safety check before we could all settle in. Second, the carpet nail strips on the first floor were not covered by a transition strip between the wood and the carpet, so one of the 6 year old kid got cut under her foot. It was painful and she was crying a lot. We had to remind everyone to step over those areas so avoid getting poked or cut. Third, the TV on the 2nd floor was broken already with a huge crack inside the screen. Forth, the beds definitely need to be upgraded. 2 nights on beds where you can feel the spring was torture for us who are used to sleeping on pillow top beds. Lastly, we couldn't get the air conditioner to turn on. We checked the vent, but couldn't feel any cool air at all even though the thermostat said it was on.

Spacious cabin, great for group ski trips!

My friends and I had a great time at Ming's cabin. It's very spacious, and has many rooms for people to break off into smaller groups to hang out if they so desire. The house is also well stocked, with plenty of kitchen plates, utensils, towels, etc. Ming was also very responsive, and any questions I had were quickly answered. Overall, a great time. Would recommend!

Fabulous time

We rented this property for our son and nephew’s birthday. We had such a great time. The place was plenty big and spacious enough for all of us to have a place to sleep. The owner was very communicative and since there wasn’t anyone checking out on our arrival we were able to check in early and also leave later. He was very accommodating to that. We were able to go to Tahoe Donner to go to snow play for all the kiddos. We drove and some adults walked up the hill. It was only a 14 min walk. We were able to book online and the Vrbo has 2 passes for you to use and get a discount for up to 8 guest. You have to book online in advance because it can get sold out. There was a grill we were able to use and cook bbq and hot dogs. The kitchen was huge and we had multiple areas of cooking. Since there was a large group we did run out of toilet paper, but just on time so keep that in mind. Bring your own towels. Everyone had a great time and the location was great. We will definitely book again next year.

Certainly not Modern Luxury

To avoid duplication, read the review from - lauri b.Penn Valley, Stayed Jul 2021. She mentions most of the problems with this house, but she stayed in summer. We stayed in December 2021 during a major snow storm. Inadequate snow removal - could barely get into the house on arrival and had to shovel for 2.5 hours to clear a path to bring our things in. Driveway was not plowed until 3pm on our third day. Three days of power outages lasting 4 to 20 hours, including overnight, with no candles, flashlights, lanterns or even a lighter in the house. No emergency plans, no local manager and temps were in the teens. Fireplaces had not been cleaned in years and even if we had firewood, we were afraid of a clogged chimney starting a fire. The owner was very kind and responsive and tried his best to help, but when you own a home in the Sierras, an emergency kit with these items should be required, there was nothing he could do to help from afar and by the time we got out of the driveway, stores were sold out of these items. Snow removal should be scheduled on a regular basis because if you call in the middle of a storm, you have to wait 3 days to get anyone. Yes, the house has a large well-equipped kitchen and can sleep 22 and that's hard to find, but the furniture is old, damaged, and safety issues are not being addressed. I would not recommend this house. We spent two of our five nights elsewhere so we could have light and heat.

Family December Vacation 2021!

Everything was amazing , the house had enough bedrooms for our family members . Kitchen super big living rooms well equipped with the basic . After all everything when great!! We will definitely rent it again!!!!

Great family time!

We love this place for our family reunions in both summer and winter. The home has multiple living areas and a second living room and kitchenette upstairs so a larger group does not feel crowded. If you are here In Summer , don’t miss awesome Truckee river rafting! Enjoy winter skiing just minutes away! Also , the owner is very communicative and was willing to work with us had we needed to cancel due to recent fire activity . Luckily we didn’t need to and had another epic vacation here!

Disappointed...Not what we expected from the pictures, but the owner did try to make it better

12 adults and 2 toddlers for a small family reunion. The house is big enough, has enough rooms and a well stocked kitchen for 22 people. We encountered many issues and contacted the owner, who got back to me day 3 of our 4 day stay. He was apologetic and tried to help but could do little more than offer some advice and correct some misunderstandings. Lots of accommodations are listed with the house, these are the accommodations that we could not use on our trip: Patios and decks - unsafe and unstable and unusable. Cable / Satellite TV - Neither upstairs or downstairs works Grille - Filthy, had to cook in the house Linens - Towels were dirty, we washed them all, sheets were clean but the comforters in the 3rd floor rooms were dusty. Garage - Both Garages were full of things belonging to the owners. Parked in the driveway. In addition, there are baronies off of the bedrooms, but all looked to be as unsafe as the decks with nails and loose boards. We found cobwebs in the corners, dust bunnies under the couch, dried food stuck to the hanging shells on the chandelier over the dining table, the carpet is so stained we did not allow the twins to crawl anywhere but the hardwood that we cleaned. We found food in the carpet and empty water bottles in attic room, dust clouds appeared when you sat on some of the beds. There is no A/C in the house and we knew this and brought fans, but we didn't know that there would be stickers on the windows and sliding doors that stated DO NOT OPEN OR GO OUTSIDE. Its hard to cool down a house with no ventilation. We did find out on day 3 that we could open the doors and windows but we had already spent over 2 days with it all shut. For us the biggest let down was the decks and grille. It is summer and we had planned to spend the majority of our time outdoors in the beautiful trees. Had we know when we booked, we would have found another house with what we wanted. The guests that checked out the day we checked in, wrote in the guest book all about the same issues we had, only they had to go out and purchase fans to cool down the house. I am sorry to have to write this review, but other guests need to be aware of the things we were not aware of prior to our arrival. And I hope this is an eye opener for the cleaning crew, to be more diligent and not just tidy up, but actually clean.

Awesome stay for yearly family snow trip

House was well equipped with everything necessary. Plenty of sleeping space for al guests plus extra pillows and beddiing. Loved staying there. Will definitely one back next year

AMAZING STAY - STRONGLY RECCOMEND

Ming was super easy to contact - quick replies . Our famiy of 9 adults went to Truckee to celebate our son's wedding. The home was clean and smelled fresh. There we was so much room to spread out and enjoy games, eating, tv watching, and visiting. This home offers amazing privacy - 2 suites on 1st floor for the older couples. Although we are a loud group, grandpa couls sleep soundly when doors were closed. LARGE LARGE kitchen , to accomodate 5 women cooking together. Love the Master bath roomy walk in shower - really helpful for elderly parents. There is another kitchen on the 2nd floor that came in handy for the extra drinks and food while we used that play room. No need to keep going downstairs for refills. Every floor has a patio. Although we did not use these because it was fridgid cold, we talked about coming back in the summer to enjoy the view and just sitting out to enjoy the sunshine. Lots of parking - we had 4 cars and no need to keep rearranging parking. Kitchen we well stocked. Lots and lots of plates, mugs, dishes, silverware...etc. Did not need anything extra. Individual thermostats in each floor to acoomodate for specific needs. Also we were pleased to see the super large water heater - which provided us all with hot showers ( something that has been a problem for our large group in other homes , but not on this one! ) We used tha large master bath and sitting area to get all the ladies makeup and hair done - all 5 of us - and eveyone had plenty of room and great lighting. Over all we could not be happier with the home, location and the owners response. Thanks! Great memories made at this home!

Annual Family Snow Trip

This property was great. It’s had plenty of space for my family to spread out. The kids had their tv upstairs to play the Nintendo switch we bought. We also had a fun time playing in the back yard building snowman and sliding down the hill. We will definitely come back again. Thanks Ming for allowing us to enjoy his property.

Nice house for large gathering

The owner (Ming) was easy to work with. Kitchen is large and nicely equipped. Bathrooms were clean and appear to have been updated recently. For me the biggest issue was the sleeping areas as I found the carpet areas dirty and stained. Most closet doors don’t close properly and most of the furniture is dated. Overall, our stay was fine but could have been better. Put in some money on replacing the carpet and clean up some minor things and you’d have a winner!
