This river is a significant waterway in Louisiana, and runs right through the Atchafalaya Basin, which is the largest river swamp in the United States. The Atchafalaya Basin covers nearly 1 million acres across south-central Louisiana. 5 short miles from the property's location, you will find the famous Henderson Swamp which is a specific section of the Atchafalaya Basin! Henderson Swamp is famous for its dense cypress trees, wildlife tours, and fishing spots. Guests can take this 5 mile drive & fish right off the banks, launch a boat or kayak for a day of exploring the swamp, or simply relax and take in the sights of egrets, herons, and maybe even a lazy gator or two passing by. Additionally, there are several reputable Airboat tour operators offer guided excursions that provide close-up views of alligators in their natural habitat. And don't forget the local Cajun Cuisine Restaurants available for all property guest!
