Welcome to Kyanon Apartment, a scenic, exclusive 2-bedroom, 2- bath apartment with private pool and hydro massage featuring stunning views of the sea and the town of Chania. Only minutes away from City center and area beaches. Guests of all backgrounds are welcome, this apartment is ideal for couples, and families year round who want to vacation in luxurious comfort and privacy.
The estate is located in the secluded, quiet neighborhood of Agios Mathaios ( St. Mathews). The house is built on a hillside, in a cluster of pines and evergreens with unencumbered views of the Cretan sea and the old Venetian harbor of Chania.
The apartment is on the lower level of the villa and can be accessed by a private staircase that leads you to a large patio with private infinity pool and hydro massage. The pool level is surrounded by overstuffed chairs and a built in couch.
Stone steps guide you to a secluded lawn level surrounded by oleanders and furnished with sun loungers and an outdoor dining area.
The property also includes fruit trees and a vegetable garden that guests are welcome to share with the hostā€™s family.
Kyanon apartment has an airy, open plan living room/kitchen and dining area with bay windows designed to embrace the stunning views of the sea and the grounds.
It is decorated in an eclectic mix of contemporary furnishings with terracotta and hardwood flooring, large windows and a working fireplace in order to make the indoors comfortable, relaxing and warm so that guests can make the most of their vacation all year round.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped and also features a butlerā€™s pantry that guests may find useful for their culinary and storage needs.
- Green Bedroom
A queen size bed faces bay windows overlooking the pool and breathtaking views of Chania and the sea. It is furnished with writing desk and overstuffed chair and features built-in closet, A/C and black out blinds.
- Blue Bedroom
A California king size bed that can easily become two single beds, faces the patio area and is the most quiet of the bedrooms. It features an ottoman and open clothing rack and its own en suite marble bathroom. It also features central heating and A/C units.

Fully equipped bathroom with bathtub, featuring plush towels and bathrobes and all shower essentials.

Newly constructed white marble bathroom consisting of walk- in waterfall shower and wall to wall marble counter top. Basic shower essentials including plush towels and bathrobes are also included.

Fabulous welcoming home

House is beautiful and well equipped and very comfortable. Host is wonderful and super helpful with advice, calling taxis for us etc. I canā€™t say enough good words about Maryellen. Would definitely stay here again. Pool and grounds were vey beautiful and comfortable

Magical Stay in Chania

Incredibly beautiful property and location. Charming host who has thought of everything to ensure your comfort. We enjoyed sitting outside with our morning and evening beverages poolside admiring the view of the city and the blue of the sea. The interior was beautifully decorated, well appointed, and beds comfortable. The washer/dryer was a plus. Really enjoyed this stay and want to thank Maryellen and her parents for their warm welcome!

Incredible location, incredible house, incredible views

Do not miss this incredible location and house. Our stay was so comfortable and our host the most generous. This is a must stay location in Chania and we hope to be back soon. The house sits atop a hill and has the most incredible view of the water and the old town. The location is absolute perfection (very close to everything via car). Our host was so incredibly kind and generous, and stayed in communication and provided great recommendations. I cannot recommend this home enough.

Amazing Rental Overlooking Chania!

As frequent travelers, weā€™ve stayed in many VRBO rentals across the world and I must say Maryellenā€™s poolside rental is now in my top 10 favorite rentals!! She communicated well and her place was like staying in a posh Hollywood Hills beach house! We would definitely rent this cool pad again!!

Wonderful Stay

Unbeatable view of Chania. The host is very gracious and provided great information and assistance about surrounding areas for exploration, dining, tours, etc. The home was extremely comfortable, well decorated and very well stocked. Gardens, flowers, fruit trees and lovely pool made this a remarkable stay. I highly recommend this property!

Just a perfect place!

We spent wonderful days at Kyanon house. The house is amazing with a wonderful view of Chania, with a beautiful garden and the location is great, close to the city center. Everything in the house is perfect and the attention given by the owners made a difference to our stay being perfect.

Most amazing lodging and host!

This lodging was just perfect and Mary Ellen was the best host ever! We arrived around midnight after a lengthy delay on the ferry from Santorini to find a bottle of red wine, home baked pastries and excellent check-in instructions. Mary Ellen stopped by the next morning to greet us with fresh baked pastries from her favorite bakery and lots of helpful information about Crete. We canā€™t say enough about our stay there and highly recommend this lodging!

Incredible view

We really loved our stay. The highlight was the pool and outside space ( plenty of room for children to run around). Inside the kitchen, living space and bathrooms were high end and well appointed. Felt like a luxury hotel. The pictures donā€™t do the view justice; sitting in the terrace and watching the sunset was a highlight of the trip.

Beautiful villa with breath taking views

This villa was incredible. It had everything we needed and more. The view from the back of the villa and garden was to die for. We spent every night watching the sun go down before heading into Chania. Marryellen the host was lovely and so very helpful with anything we needed. She even organised a personal driver for us who was reasonably prised and very reliable. We will definitely be back , so much to do and see in Chania.

The perfect respite

Our stay at Kyanon House was perfect. Our host Maryellen greeted us upon our arrival with delicious pastries from her mother and assisted us with recommendations from sites to restaurants to specialty shops. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. Crete is so incredibly charming and this home with its spectacular views and open layout was even better than we expected based on the pictures and reviews. Itā€™s huge, so spacious compared to so many European accommodations. It is also so well appointed, Maryellen has literally thought of everything. And on top of that she is a gracious hostess, she made recommendations for meals and activities for us on both our days in Crete. We only wished we had planned to stay longer. We canā€™t wait to go back one day!

Wonderful, clean, and bright property.

Our seven night stay was a delight. The grounds were spectacular, ideal for reading or soaking in the pool. The house has large windows in all rooms, all with great views of Chania ... and was bright and clean. Maryellen made our arrival special; in the house were fresh fruit, freshly baked pound cake, and fresh flowers. And Maryellen made it clear that she was ready to answer all our questions and provide recommendations. A wonderful experience !

We had an amazing time in Crete thanks to Maryellen and the location of her lovely house. The accommodation was spectacular! Everything you need was provided. We were so appreciative and thankful of a home-made meal from Maryellen and her parents after arriving at midnight following a 24 hour travel day. Just Perect

Two sisters and our husbands in Crete for 4 days. We loved this apartment. It is beautiful inside and out. The grounds and views are amazingly beautiful. The inside perflectly appointed. Clean and beautiful and great space for us and our rental car. I can't say enough about our host Mary Ellen. She helped us plan our stay and even made restaurant reservations and transport arrangements for us. I can't wait to return. This place is truly special. It exceeded my expectations. The pictures on the website are beautiful but it is even more beautiful and elegant in person.

Breathtaking and Unforgettable

Upon arrival, you canā€™t stop staring at the magnificent view of Chania from your patio. We were staring at the pool and the view, and we were so amazed that we were staying here for the next 7 nights! Spacious rooms with beautiful touches, comfortable bed, fluffy towels, and the best part was Mary Ellen and her advice for he area, and yummy treats we received from her family and the garden. Such a treat! Instead of driving into Chania for nightly dinner, Mary Ellen arranged a driver for us so we would not have to deal with the crazy parking situation. We also drove to a nearby barbecue restaurant for dinner a couple of times since the food was spectacular. With our Rent-A-Car we visited Falassarna gorgeous beach, Aptera ruins, Astrikas Estate Biolea-Olive oil estate with gorgeous views & food, Agia Triada Monastery & hiked down Avlaki Gorge. We loved the food, energy, sights in Chania. We had a spectacular stay!

Welcome to Oz

Those who have seen the old movie "The Wizard of Oz," surely remember the scene when the tornado plops Dorothy's black and white farm house on the ground and Dorothy opens the door. As she does so, she is greeted by the Technicolor land of Oz. That is kind of the way I felt when Maryellen, our host at Kyanon House, greeted us at the top of the garden staircase down to the apartment. The view of the blue Aegean Sea, the city of Chania, the infinity pool and the lush garden seemed Oz-like. Inside we found a well designed space that took total advantage of the view. It was beautifully and comfortably decorated. And Maryellen explained all to us and provided us with lists and descriptions of everything to do from hiking, to swimming, to tours and restaurants. Maryellen was quickly responsive whenever we had questions, needed help or wanted reservations. This was simply one of the best, if not the best, VRBOs we have stayed in. Maryellen even provided us with fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and local beverages!

5 stars is not enough!

Stepping out of the car to get our first glimpse of the property was like looking at the listing pictures but better! This villa is absolutely beautiful! It is perfectly situated on the property to take advantage of the natural terraced landscape and incredible views of the water below. The inside of the house is spotless and meticulously maintained and immediately puts you at ease knowing you will be comfortable during your stay. We were two couples traveling together and the accommodations were spacious enough for us to enjoy time together and have our separate spaces as well. Your host, Maryellen, is wonderful, welcoming and was immediately responsive to any of our questions about recommendations for our stay. There is so much to do on Crete, and the guest binder provided by the host was full of helpful information. Every restaurant she recommended was fantastic. Even though you may spend most of your time exploring the island like we did, don't miss the chance to book an outdoor massage at the house. It was a great experience early in our stay after all of the walking and climing around Athens. Thank you very much Maryellen for making our trip an incredible experience. We can't wait to come back!

Gorgeous view, outstanding service, 5* accommodation

We have been staying at HomeAway properties for the past 10 years and this one is by far superior to all of them. This felt more like staying at a 5* hotel, with high quality linens and towels, beautiful furnishings, and a great concierge service. The place was spotless and cleaning services were regular and completely non-intrusive. Maryellen contacted us a couple of weeks before our trip asking what foods we'd like to get us started. We found all our favorite foods and more, all of the best quality. She even replenished some of the items when we couldn't find them to purchase, and left "gifts' of delicacies at our doorstep throughout our stay. The weather was unseasonably chilly but nice heating systems in the house kept us comfortable and cosy. TV and Netflix worked perfectly, great to have on those cooler nights when we didn't want to go out. The kitchen is as well furnished as the rest of the house, with beautiful dishes, matching glasses, olive oil and all the basic spices. We loved every minute of our stay at Kyanon Apartment. Maryellen is an excellent host and the apartment and surrounding gardens and pool area are even more beautiful than in the photos. The apartment is on the ground floor but there is no noise whatsoever from the floors above, excellent soundproof construction! The views from the pool area and big windows in the main bedroom and living room are spectacular. Maryellen provides so many lovely touches; fresh flowers from the beautiful garden, lovely bathrobes and toiletries, a kitchen and utility room stocked with everything you need from dishwasher tablets to insect repellant to olive oil etc, and a full list of recommended outings, beaches and restaurants. We enjoyed the apartment and pool so much that we didn't get to see as much of Crete as we planned! The old town of Chania is about 10 minutes away by car and is perfect to wander around at night. We booked a taxi by phone to take us there most evenings, sometimes there was a wait but it wasn't a problem. We are already planning our next visit as we only scratched the surface of this fabulous island, and I doubt there is a nicer place to stay than here. Extraordinaire !!!Tout est parfait chez Maryllen: les photos sont tout Ơ fait conformes Ơ la location qui est un vƩritable paradis, l'accueil est incroyable : des informations Ơ l'ensemble des petites attentions (corbeille de fruits et lƩgumes, fromage, pain,vin,...). Je recommande vivement y compris pour l'emplacement qui permet d'accƩder facilement Ơ la Canee et aux plages alentours.

Hello, my name is Maryellen and i will be your primary host during your stay. I was born in the United States but am currently living and working in Chania.
Kyanon House and apartment is my family home.
The house was designed with lots of love by my parents to embrace the views of the Cretan sea and the beauty of the surrounding forest.
