This private and elegant 3BR/3BA house is a masterfully crafted one-of-a-kind home that boasts exquisite custom design and detail throughout both the exterior and the interior.
Perched cliffside on 10 acres above Pila'a Beach on Kauai's North Shore, this property offers numerous spots to take in the sprawling views of the crystal blue Pacific to the east and verdant mountains to the west. As well, a ten minute nature walk with incline on the way back leads to a remote and idyllic beach below.

While all three bedrooms have king size beds and ocean views, the rest of the interior was planned with luxurious precision, with rich hardwood floors, abundant deck space, a grand entertainment room with home theater, unique features such as a dining gazebo. One of the master suites is a separate unit with king bed, 1/2 bath and outdoor private hot/cold shower, not connected to the main house but accessed via a walkway several steps away. The master suite in the main house has an attached den with a queen bed.

Beautiful views a lots of space. Great location!Feels somewhat dated and landscape is need of TLC. Layout is unconventional with entry into primary bedroom through bathroom, and exposed toilet. Other than hand soap, no bathroom amenities provided.Limited outdoor furniture for more than two people.

Amazing Retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed here as a family of five, including two adult children and one teenager. The house matched the pictures, featuring beautiful grounds and stunning views. Located on the North Shore, it was close to everything we wanted yet secluded from crowds. The local host was very responsive to our questions.A few considerations if you're planning to stay here:There's no A/C. We stayed in June/July and used fans and open windows, which worked fine. Initially, we were concerned, but it wasn't an issue.The fourth bedroom is a studio attached to the garage, about 100 yards from the house. It suited our family well, but note it's not connected to the main house.The property looks like the pictures, with even more impressive grounds and views. However, the access trail to the beach is rugged. We used it once and then opted for other nearby beaches with easier access. This wasn't a problem but differed from my expectations.We would definitely stay again.

Amazing Views!!

We had the most wonderful stay on Kauai! The house has breathtaking views and the grounds are immaculate! The house itself has very unique architecture with amazing huge windows when you walk in. The house is older and could use a few updates but with the views it really didn’t matter! One suggestion would be to put more outdoor patio furniture for hangout space to enjoy the amazing breezes in the evenings. Some of the patios off the bedrooms had amazing views but no furniture at all. We really liked the location as it was a close drive to Kilauea or Hanalei Bay which was our favorite beach and town! The beach at the house is very hard to get to and a very steep and rocky hike but once you get there it’s beautiful! Overall it was a Wonderful stay! Thank you!

Kauai is so beautiful

Amazing Paradise

The location felt secluded but still close to nearby grocery stores and restaurants. The property is GORGEOUS and the views from the public spaces and outdoor kitchen/gazebo are stunning. We had trouble with the water heater working on one side of the house, but the maintenance crew went above and beyond to fix it. The beach access is more difficult than described, but it was worth the trek for these 4 adults (I wouldn't call it kid-friendly). Overall had a fantastic time and would definitely rent again.

Nice accomodation with small flaws

What really bothered us was that it says in the description of the holiday home that there is a jacuzzi.Unfortunately this is not working. Nobody from the agency cared about it. The holiday home is in the upper price category and we paid a lot of money, so we think everything must be ok. The main reason to book the house was the Jacuzzi. So we want to get a compensation but the agency said in the description was no jacuzzi but this is not true.

Absolutely breathtaking

The view is out of this world. The whole property is just gorgeous. It’s like having your own private resort. Very secluded and quiet. Wish the hot tub worked though. This home was amazing. The beds were comfortable Beware of the wild boars roaming the property though especially if you have kids out exploring Never did find a way down to the beach from the property but that’s ok. It was nice just to look at. Quite far from any amenities but that also wasn’t an issue for us but could be for others. One thing I’d complain about and I never complain about any rentals because most property managers take care of the issues. We had a wasp nest right outside the back door under the deck. So many wasps. We had to stop using the back door. Every time we opened it several got inside. Plus who wants to walk through wasps So we never did even get to use the bbq house or go out back much. I texted our host and he never even responded. I had the correct number because he did respond to a previous text. It was odd though that he never checked with us how things were going. I found wasp spray but wasn’t about to attempt spraying a wasp nest especially right next to the door!! My bed had so many ants in it. I pulled the mattress away from headboard and found so many food crumbs there. Had to spray wash everything and put ant baits out. Very common to find geckos crawling around your bedroom at night. Some people may not like that but for us it was fine.

Especially the sunrises each morning! We loved walking to the beach and walking the grounds. The orchard was peaceful & lime trees were my favorite.The house was so comfortable and has everything you need, especially in the kitchen and bbq building.

4.5 Stars. Could be 5-stars.

The pictures do not do the location of this beautiful property justice. The views from those large windows is truly incredible. The property is as large as a small resort and just as picturesque. We enjoyed hiking to the beach (though it’s not so easy). The location on the island in proximity to all the activities our family of 5 did was perfect. There is some room for improvement. This home is really a two bedroom home, with a office off the master that has been turned into a den, and maid quarters in the garage a good distance from the house. Yes it can sleep 8; but for our family one kid ended up on the couch, one got the master another another the den, and we took the guest bedroom. I will say though that the guest bedroom is great and has an amazing shower. All beds were comfortable. The home is dated, especially appliances. They are Wolf, high end appliances, but showing their age (and didn’t always function perfectly). The kitchen could use a dishes restock (a lot of mismatch stuff) as compared to other higher end VRBO’s we’ve stayed in. The home could have more/better outdoor seating on the decks to take advantage of those amazing views. They should take advantage of the speakers all over, that didn’t work on our stay, but instead they added a couple of floating Sonos speakers. And would have appreciated better beach chairs (the kind you can strap on your back, not carry to all these remote beaches). And if you are wondering about not having AC. We were there mid July. The home did get warm during the day, but not intolerable and we were usually out and about most of the day. But it cooled off great at night and felt like living in a beautiful tree house. Very indoor/outdoor feel. Overall, beautiful property, and we would stay again just for the uniqueness and beauty. And with just some minor updates, this could be one the best five stars out there on Kauai. It’s still a great value for the price.

The most Amazing views , property and location on Kauai

Our family loved every minute of this vacation. We brought our three daughters and it was so peaceful and beautiful the landscaping is immaculate . The House overlooks one of the most amazing beaches just a short walk away and We felt like we were on our own little private resort.

Looked good online but alot of misrepresentation about property

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I booked this beach house and "garage cottage" for my family. We received so much inaccurate information about this property. Hawaii Life told my husband I that the checkered bedspread is the bedroom in the garage area and that is completely wrong. The garage livable area doesn't even have a master suite with a shower INSIDE! There's a huge knocking noise inside the wall every in the garage livable area, you can barely sleep! The knocking is in the wall by the kitchen area. The frig does not work in the garage livable area. It is barely decorated, the bed is pushed up against the wall, trim is not even finished in the half bath and it smells so stale in there! Also we got 1 wash rag and 2 bath towels for the whole week!My husband had to argue with Eric the property manager about the door not opening to our garage room. Finally he sent a locksmith who had to work on our door for 3 hours to completely change the lock. It was beyond unprofessional. It also states the garage living space has a master with a shower. The only shower is outside??? That is completely misleading. We could shower on Thursday or Fridays bc grounds keepers were there and our shower is literally outside and open! 1st day we were there we had to go buy toliet paper, paper towels and kleenexs because those were not even provided. My mom is a clean freak and cleaned the whole place bc there was a lot of dead bugs, crusty spots in the kitchen and Hairs! Also in the email is says the private beach has a personal trail steps from the beach. I booked this trip for my mom who sadly could never go see the beach. There is also bums living all through the "private" trail. For the cost of this place look elsewhere trust me. Do your research & something that has accurate pictures and an accurate description!

Beautiful

The house and the property was amazing. The pictures of the property don’t do it justice. We picked fresh fruit every day we was there. The view is spectacular. We used the bbq area almost every night. Lite the tiki torches at night which gave a cool ambiance. The place is worth the money. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for a secluded, well maintained, and scenic place to stay. Will be going back soon.

Secluded relaxation

Impeccably maintained. Stunning location and spectacular view of ocean and mountains. Lovely grounds but does get the brunt of easterly trade winds when they are around.

Midway Holiday in Hawaii

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great east-facing modern house in wonderful clifftop location overlooking Pilaa beach (not a swimming beach). Excellent outlook for whale and bird watching. Very private large garden property well maintained. Good child-friendly beaches near, by car. House well equipped and spacious with the two bedroom suites privately located at either end of the living areas. Outdoor decks and a hot tub have garden and ocean views. Separate Pavilion well away from the main house provides extra sleeping accommodation and table tennis. It also has a wonderful outdoor shower. A gazebo located down from the house towards the ocean offers extensive garden and sea views, an indoor barbecue and a large circular dining table seating eight. Good shops for general supplies are located relatively nearby in Princeville. A surprise and pleasant aspect of our stay was a roadside stall, on the approach to the house, where local produce such as papaya and coconuts could be bought and paid for in an “honesty box”. Wonderful!We would stay here again.A few items which would improve a future visit are: Outdoor drying line for beach towels, a laundry tub, blinds or curtains to reduce early morning sun and glare in the dining area and bedside reading lights in the Pavilion.

Amazing

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Kai Halulu and will return. A beautiful location, amazing property and views. The house does heat up during the day but comfortable otherwise.

With the sliding doors open at night we got some nice breezes through the house. We loved what we called the grilling hut and used it almost every night.
