Plan a luxurious summer vacation in our green-built (2009) cabin in Pilgrim Cove, the quiet side of Payette lake. Enjoy magnificent lake views from the gourmet kitchen, living room or one of three lakefront decks. Whether you are peacefully greeting dawn from the end of the dock or basking in the heat from the fire after a great day of skiing, you will enjoy the serenity and beauty that only a lakefront property near Ponderosa State Park provides.

Savor lake views from the well-appointed main floor kitchen, great room, dining room and master bedroom (queen). The main floor is wheelchair accessible and includes a master bedroom complete with an accessible walk-in/roll-in shower and safety rails. The main floor opens to a large lakefront deck with breathtaking views, comfortable outdoor dining and a gas grill.
Downstairs there is a family room stocked with toys and games, TV with BluRay, 2 lakeside queen bedrooms, full bathroom and laundry facilities. Access the adjoining lower porch and lake from this walk-out lower level.
Upstairs is a large second master suite facing the lake with a private balcony, queen bed and master bathroom with a double shower.


In the winter you can cross country ski or snow shoe on miles of groomed tracks marked for a variety of experience levels through the woods of Ponderosa State Park just 1/2 mile from the cabin. Load up your alpine skis and head up the mountain to Brundage Mountain Resort just 20 minutes away.
In the spring and fall you can hike in Ponderosa State Park or the abundant hiking trails in the surrounding forests or fish off the dock or in one of many nearby smaller lakes, rivers and streams. Three golf courses offer nearby recreation. Afterwards you can relax by the fire pit, play some bocci or sip hot chocolate or make smores while the little ones play in the sand. Sharing the cabin with family and friends or enjoying a romantic retreat will build lasting memories of peaceful nights and spectacular days.

Perfect lake cabin for quiet getaway

We had a wonderful stay in this large, quiet, well equipped cabin on the lake. Sunrise is amazing from the deck, close to town but feels a million miles away. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again in the future.

Quick family get away in McCall

The views and the property were everything you could ask for and Mary and Dan were outstanding hosts. The property is perfectly laid out for multiple couples or a couple families offering plenty of common area to socialize and privacy on every level of the home.

Best part of the lake

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this house. It is so nice and has everything that you could want with only being 12 minutes from downtown. The owners are super available and helpful.

Beautiful Cabin on Lake Payette in McCall

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at the Poole's cabin on the lake; perfect spot for a family as a lake get away. The cabin is not far from dining and other activities in McCall and the state park is very close. This is a quiet spot on the lake and the view is beautiful. The Poole's are fantastic hosts and you will find the cabin really has everything you need.

Comfortable Lakeside Cabin with Outstanding View

We met some friends for a winter get away in McCall and chose the Poole Cabin. We were NOT disappointed, the layout is fantastic for multiple families and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the wood trim and nostalgia that went along with it (boards salvaged from original cabin). We hope to visit again soon!

Couldn't have been better!

We love this cabin!! For a group of four couples this cabin was absolutely perfect. The layout is great, the house was immaculately clean, kitchen stocked with all the utensils and dishware needed. The hosts are wonderful and take the extra steps needed to ensure your stay is great. We want to come back!

Lovely Lake Front Home

We are a group o 8 senior citizens who take a yearly short trip together. This was our first time in McCall and we all loved it. The home was a dream come true. We are all hoping to return next year! Great hosts and gorgeous home.

Right on the lake

We rented this house because it has a private dock and community boat launch. There are lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. You can easily feed 10 people and have room to spread out. Owners were very helpful

Ladies weekend

Spectacular setting and accommodations

Enjoyed a week at this property with adult siblings and their spouses. Great place to relax and rejuvenate or stay busy hiking and kayaking right from the property. Nice dining table to spread out family pictures and reminisce for hours. Close to town, just a few minutes to downtown restaurants and shopping. Clean, comfortable and everything needed for a wonderful experience, and the hosts were extremely helpful and communicative. Highly recommend!

Lovely cabin and beautiful setting

We were a group of five friends from several different states who gather annually to celebrate our friendship. The Poole's cabin in McCall was perfect for our group! There were plenty of bedrooms, super comfy beds, gorgeous views, and space to sit and visit, eat and cook together. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and only wished we'd had more time to spend there. Dan and Mary were wonderful hosts who made every effort to accommodate our needs. I highly recommend this beautiful home and look forward to coming again!

Wonderful memories.

Definitely will be back. Quiet and peaceful setting overlooking the beautiful lake. Home very well furnished. Extremely Clean and great value. Know thisā€”you will not find better hosts than Don and Mary. During our stay they checked in with us to make sure all was well. Priceless.

Love this place!!!

Wow, what a gem this cabin is. There are breathtaking views of the lake throughout the house and from the decks. We loved eating breakfast on the deck and gazing at the lake! The cabin is elegant and comfortable at the same time, which made for a relaxing trip. We have a toddler, and the cabin has many built-in features to make it safe for little ones. The sandy beach and dock were amazing for playing in the sun and water. We also enjoyed taking the short walk to the state park and the miles of trails there. Can't wait to return!

Poole cabin

The Poole cabin was the best cabin we have ever stayed at in McCall & I have been renting cabins for over 40 years. The space & layout over the 3 floors gave everyone privacy, yet the shared living room, kitchen were welcoming & very comfortable & had one of the best stocked kitchens we have seen. The outside deck areas with all the furnishings & access to kayaks& paddle boards were very much appreciated. Our family which ranged in age from 20-87 all had very memorable vacation. Thank you . We look forward to renting again.

Dream Vacation

This was a family Christmas present that didn't disappoint. We had planned on spending most of our time at the Winter Festival, but we stayed at the house instead because we liked it better. There were the best games and outside equipment for our grandsons. The cozy and welcoming interior begged us not to leave, so we didn't. Even our grandsons were impressed with the walk-in and double headed showers. It was a wonderful weekend.

What a gem!

This house is a treasure on Pilgrim Cove. The pride of ownership is visible everywhere and translates to a welcoming and comfortable vacation experience for guests. The home is well equipped and well maintained, close to town but still secluded and quiet, and the lake views and access can't be beat! We particularly liked that it wasn't full of bunk beds; as a group of 4 couples, it can be difficult to find a rental that sleeps 8 without forcing one or more of the couples into single beds. This house has five bedrooms and six beds, which means plenty of privacy and comfortable sleeping for everyone, whether you're traveling with friends or family. Each of the 3 levels was a comfortable temperature, too, allowing us to take full advantage of all the space. Bonus: there's at least one bathroom on each level. We had all of our breakfasts and dinners at the house, and the kitchen accommodated 4-5 cooks at once without a problem. We were even able to grill one evening thanks to the unseasonably warm weather. We hope to be back next year to take advantage of this great house again!

Shanga La in the Snow

Our group consisted of four males, all retired from government law enforcement and all various levels of intermediate skiers. We unanimously found the lodging to be perfect from every perspective. We used four of the five bedrooms. All four had comfortable King size beds. We did not cook, but the kitchen was complete. There were enough good restaurants in McCall (a charming small town) to prevent us from even thinking about eating in. The house is lakefront and the view is indescribably beautiful. The property was loaded with books and games to amuse children of all ages (even in their fifties and sixties). We also enjoyed sitting in the family room at night and observing two different foxes dropping by to beg for a handout. We also observed a number of mule deer and elk in the neighborhood. The surrounding mountains and Brundage Ski Resort offer one of a kind vistas. Even though the resort is comparatively small, the entire mountain is accessible offering a wide range of incredible scenery. The owners, Dan and Mary Poole, are genuinely the real deal and will go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. This is a no brainer that offers a lifetime of good memories.

We were born and raised in northern Idaho and both graduated from the U of I. 35 years ago, our first Christmas away from home as newly weds, we rented a cabin in the cove and we have been coming back since then. We bought this land and a very rustic cabin in 1999 and decided to rebuild in 2009. The knotty pine paneling in the great room of the new cabin was lovingly reclaimed from the original 1940s cabin.

We love the cove because of its strong, welcoming community and 1950s neighborly values. Our children learned their love and respect for the lake and its fagile ecosystem and made life-long friends of all ages here. Both daughters celebrated their marriages here and both extracted spousal commitments for frequent returns. For our family this is paradise.

Our cabin is located on the east side of Payette Lake, in Pilgrimā€™s Cove. Anyone who has ever stayed on the east side of the lake knows that is offers the benefits of fewer boats and smoother water than the other side of the lake. In the winter it offers the opportunity to experience long hours of silence.
