Island Winds West 178 is a beautifully updated beachfront condo located in the heart of Gulf Shores, Alabama. This spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom ground-floor retreat offers direct beach access, stunning Gulf views, and accommodations for up to 6 guests, making it perfect for families, couples, or a relaxing coastal getaway.

Inside, you’ll find a bright open-concept living space designed for comfort and convenience. The living room features comfortable seating, a queen sleeper sofa, and easy access to the private beachfront patio area. The updated kitchen includes granite countertops, a tile backsplash, modern appliances, and bar seating, making meal preparation and gathering with family and friends easy and enjoyable.

The primary bedroom offers a king bed with a private en-suite bathroom, while the guest bedroom also features a king bed with access to a second full bathroom. Both bedrooms are thoughtfully designed with coastal-inspired décor to create a relaxing atmosphere after a day at the beach.

Guests can enjoy fantastic on-site amenities including a heated beachfront pool, gazebo area, fitness room, and direct access to the sugar-white sand beaches of the Gulf Coast.

Island Winds West 178 is conveniently located near many of Gulf Shores’ most popular attractions including Gulf State Park, The Hangout, Waterville USA, local seafood restaurants, shopping, fishing charters, and live entertainment venues throughout Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Whether you’re planning a family beach vacation, romantic escape, or long weekend by the water, Island Winds West 178 offers the perfect blend of comfort, location, and coastal charm.

Important Information:

On-site paid parking is available and managed by the property’s HOA. Parking passes may be purchased ahead of time or upon arrival and are valid for the duration of your stay. Please display the pass clearly on your driver’s side dashboard at all times while on property. Rates are set by the HOA and are subject to change without notice.
U-Hauls, trailers, boats, jet skis, buses, and similar vehicles are not permitted on the property.

Minimum rental age is 25 years old.

The condo was old and has not been kept up very well. The cabinets are in bad shape and several cabinet doors were misaligned. There was a strong odor of sewage in the guest bedroom/bathroom. We did fix that issue by running water in the tub but the smell came back the next day. (We spoke to the lady at the front desk and she went above and beyond to fix the issue) but we thought we had resolved it. By the next day, it was our last night so we didn’t feel it was worth trying to move to another unit. There were also several bugs throughout our stay, most of which were in the same guest bedroom. The furniture wasn’t in good shape and there was a sheet and a very thin spread on top. No extra blankets if needed. The front door frame was broken so we had to make sure to keep the latch locked. Overall, it was not a good experience and we would not recommend. The only positive is that it was a fantastic location.

Beautiful view, easy beach access. We enjoyed the swimming pool area being able to have shade as well as sun.

Comfortable and clean!!! A little smaller than I imagined, but still fit us comfortably. Check-in/out was very quick and easy as well!

SHRIMP FEST

GREAT LOCATION FOR SHRIMP FEST ONLY PROBLEM IS PARKING. IF THE PROPERTY DESIGNATED PARKING PLACES FOR EACH UNIT AND MARKED THEM THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE TO STAY.

Cute and quaint

Clean and easy to get to the beach. The beds were wonderful. We thought being that close to the pool, the kids would keep us up late but we did not hear a thing. The only update I would suggest is, investing in keyless entry. Too hard to manage keys.

Better than expected

We booked this very last minute. We received an email that the grounds was doing some upgrading and we may not have access to our balcony or the pool. It was Memorial Day weekend and we had access to both. Pool was great temp, kiddie pool could have been cleaned better but our 16 month old twins loved it. Condo was perfect for our needs and the first floor was fantastic. Still had great views and not too far to go. Beach access was great and not too crowded.

outdated

was disappointed on how outdated all furnishings were. Kitchen cabinets falling apart, junk under sink way too many ornamental decorations that were in the way collecting dust. Dining area light fixture was put into wall which appears to be a fire hazard. Area rugs tripping hazard. Ran out of T.P. …at least office should make available for sale. Outdoor patio furniture falling apart. Location was good, just felt this unit stopped in time.

Parking passes

The stay was great. The only issue was we were supposed to get two parking passes we got one and was told because it was a holiday and parking was limited we could only get one. The next day we complained and got the other parking pass. Otherwise, the condo was clean and the security was great!
