Beautiful & Gracious Accommodations in the Sandia Foothills


We moved from this home a few years ago and decided to make a vacation rental out of it because we knew folks would really appreciate the warmth and charm of it and the incredible setting and views from the deck, not to mention the proximity to both the natural Soutwestern environment and 'civilization.' There is so much to do and see in the area most people who have come to visit wish they had more time to spend. We have another smaller vacation rental property nearby and have enjoyed hosting many guests in the past couple of years. That listing is VRBO #279332 and you can read some reviews from some of our guests who have stayed with us there. We can accommodate larger families or groups as both properties can be rented together hosting up to 16 guests.

Great get away

Welcoming and warm home

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, cozy and comfortable home. The host was easily reached, check in was very straightforward, and home had everything from kitchen utensils to extra towels to a shower gel and a shampoo. Thank you for your hospitality, Jake! And we recommend this place to anyone who would like to stay in Placitas desert. The sunsets are gorgeous from the windows of this home.

Beautiful area with gorgeous view. Nice big older house, with nice big kitchen. Minor issues: old coffee pot, sqeaky bed...addressed issues with owner. We enjoyed our stay. Owner was very helpful and kind. Would stay again.

Most amazing view and family friendly

We came here with our entire family ( 7 adults and 3 kids ages 3-7) and fit our needs perfectly! We had a small family reunion bar-b-Que with extended family and it was a perfect place with plenty of outside and inside space. My favorite thing was the beautiful sunsets every night! Nothing better than a New Mexico sunset! Jake was great and answered questions quickly and was very friendly! Definitely would come again!

Beautiful home

The house is beautiful with an amazing view. A little further out than we expected but it was well worth it. Will definitely rent again when we decided to go back to Albuquerque New Mexico!!

Perfect house for a group!

Our group was in Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta and annular eclipse, and this house was perfect for us. The kitchen is large and open (and VERY well stocked), which was great for communing - we love to cook, eat, drink, and play games together. There are also two separate sitting areas which worked out great for our varied interests - music vs quiet time. Loved it, would stay here again. View from the deck are beautiful! And our host was amazing - stopped by when we arrived and explained in more detail where the walking trails are and where we might see the local wild horses. Very friendly and helpful! We had a terrific stay!

Family Reunion

Stayed here while visiting with family living in Placitas. Very nice house with beautiful sunset views. Very quiet and restful. Saw the wild mustangs, rabbits, roadrunners, coyotes, and a collard lizard. Visited Coronado State Park with fantastic kiva murals going back to the 1200s. Fantastic views of the Rio Grande River bisque with the Sandia Mountains in the background. Go early in the summer to avoid the heat. About 7 miles from the house. It was perfect for our visit.

Great location

We rented this house while visiting family nearby. The sunset and sunrise off the deck were amazing. The layout of the house was great. Bedrooms on one side of the house and living room and “game” room on the other. We were able to put the baby down for naps and bedtime without worrying about being woken up by noise. We had a couple issues that Jake was quick to respond to as well as get them taken care of right away. This house served our needs and will likely reach out again for next visit.

Wonderful house in Placitas!

I was traveling with my elderly mother and adult daughter and my brother and his wife joined us later. The home is absolutely delightful. The neighborhood is gorgeous and one afternoon we even saw wild horses as we returned to the house. Mom has limited mobility (she uses a cane or walker) and she was able to manage the few steps nicely. There are a couple of steps going up into the house and the entry area is one step up from the rest of the house. Otherwise it is all on one level including the beautiful deck. There is one walk-in shower which does not have grab bars, but we made it work. The hall bathroom has a higher toilet than the one in the master bath. The kitchen is very well stocked. Everything we needed was there for us. I used the grill located out on the deck one night. It was clean and ready to go. Jake was a fabulous host. He was eager to help, but not intrusive. We had a slight problem one day and he arrived within minutes to help us out. The location was perfect for going to either Albuquerque or Santa Fe. If I ever come back to this part of New Mexico I'll definitely stay here again!

Fabulous Views in Placitas!

Jake’s house was the perfect place for my siblings, their families, and me to stay while in town for my dad’s 93rd birthday. There are two large, comfortable indoor living rooms to hang out in, but we spent most of our time on the deck enjoying its amazing views. The beds were all comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchen were well stocked. Jake was very accommodating and easy to work with. Will definitely look to stay here again for Dad’s 94th!

So beautiful!!

This was our second time to stay here. Jake is great. It is a great family house. Last time there was 8 of us. It was comfortable for everyone. There is not a more beautiful view then from the deck!!

Pre-Retirement Trip

Absolutely beautiful panoramic view that went for miles from the back deck of the house. The home and beds were very comfortable and clean. House is located close enough to city for shopping and day trips and also far enough away for privacy and safety. Spoke with owner about possible excursions to try. He was very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

Wonderful visit with family

Convenient location with great views

Out of the park.

We gathered as a family mourning over the loss of a Great guy, and found a silver lining in this rental. It was more than we could have hoped for. Owner is warm, interesting and easy to talk to and more than accommodating to some folks that were feeling low. If I could give it more than five stars I would in a heart beat.

Nice location with great views

This location was a great spot for several of us to get away and relax. Lots of room for guests and wonderful views. Not far from Bernalillo and a very quiet neighborhood.

Definitely would recommend!

The property was amazing! Beautiful sunsets and perfect space for the family. A lot of things for the kids to enjoy and sitting space for adults to relax. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay thank you! Also the owner was so kind and greeted us there! Very sweet!

Views of Cabezon and Mesas!

This rental was in a fantastic location with the most amazing views from the deck. The neighborhood is peaceful, with the exception of the Coyotes having an occasional singing fest in the distance 😂. A great location for exploring Albuquerque and the Jemez mountains! Jake the owner is great - helpful and informative. My husband and I were sad to leave.

Beautiful Views

This roomy home has a deck with beautiful views of the western vista. We spent almost all of our time on the deck. The home is situated to maximize privacy. It was so quiet and peaceful. It was equipped with everything we needed including coffee. We hope to stay there again.

Highly recommend!!! Pictures don't do justice

We came here with our parents and the pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the property and area are. The views are incredible and location is ideal. Most of all, the hosts/owners were the nicest people! They were fast to answer all our questions and very helpful. Both elderly and kids enjoyed equally. Great board games and movie collection. We all loved this place and had such a quality family trip .

New Mexico enchantment

This house is perfect for active folks who want quick access to trails right from the back yard. The hosts are the kindest, most caring folks, and we felt right at home for our 2 month ‘work-cation.’ The only downside for me is that there were so many decorations on most all surfaces so it was hard to find a great spot for my laptop and massive monitor, but for folks not working, that really isn’t an issue. The internet service worked excellent too. Plus, it’s basically 30 minutes to everywhere in ABQ and Santa Fe is only 35 mins away. Hot springs, yummy food, and trails....what more could you want?

We were both born in Brooklyn NY but met in Taos NM in 1971, got married and raised our family between New Mexico and Upstate NY through the years. We finally chose NM as our permanent home, and found this hidden GEM in Placitas about 24 years ago. It is close enough to a population center to pursue my career as an auctioneer, but out in the country where we had room to roam, enjoy the peace and quiet of rural setting, gorgeous sunsets, starry nights and even keep horses.
