Cosy 1 bedroom apartment in a historic canal house in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main cityā€™s attractions.

The apartment has a very nice feel with an 'authentic' style, an open, fully equipped kitchen in the living-room, a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet, a TV with international channels and of course a coffee maker. In the bedroom is a double bed and in the living there is a couch which can be made into a comfortable double bed as well, if you like to sleep seperately. (costs for extra bedlinen is 10 euro). Bookings are for 2 guests max, a baby is counted as 1 person according to the local rules!
Everything in this apartment is in great condition!

The neighborhood is ideal located at about a 10 minutes walking distance from the busy city center with lots of restaurants and shops, The Ann Frank House, the Central Railway Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square and Westerpark and 3 nice markets on Mondays (arts and crafts-), Wednesdays (organic-) and Saturdays (farmers-).

In short, the perfect place to stay when in Amsterdam!

Had a wonderful 3 night stay in this very cute and comfortable apartment. Emmy, the host, was there to greet us upon arrival to show us around the apartment and give us a run down on this charming and quiet community. The apartment was well equipped and very clean. Great location walkable to shopping, dining, markets and tourist areas. Only a short Uber ride to train station and cruise port. Stairs are steep like most traditional Dutch homes so if you have mobility issues book the ground floor unit which is just as lovely!

We totally scored with this apartment. The location was quiet, the seating in the apartment was comfortable and so was the bed. Emmy was a great host. We really enjoyed our stay there.

It was a lovely quiet peaceful haven. In a family neighborhood within walking distance of the busy city. Very narrow stairs to walk up and down, especially with luggage. So you must be agile!

This apartment is in a perfect location with easy access to the bus and tram. Grocery store and restaurants are near by. The apartment is a very comfortable with a separate bedroom and a sofa that opens to a bed. The host met us and personally walked us through a map of Amsterdam.Would highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Amsterdam

We had a lovely 4 night stay in Emmy's apartment. Everything was as described in the listing. Location was perfect with easy access to Amsterdam highlights by foot or public transportation. Would definitely stay again.

This is our second stay here and itā€™s perfect! Quiet neighborhood just a short walk to everything you want in the center without all the noise and drunks. Emmy was great as we had some last minute arrival scheduling problems on our end and she made it work. We love her and this fabulous apartment.

Very good communication with the owner for check in. Located in a quiet part of town, which is great if thatā€™s what you want. Have Google maps ready because with all the canals -directions can be a challenge. But thatā€™s to be expected. It is the city of canals! There is a small refrigerator, but no freezer. public transportation is a seven minute walk to a bus or tram. So if you are a taxi or Uber person, this probably isnā€™t the place for you. And some of the reviews I read there is a complaint about the truly very very steep stairwell to get up to the apartment. Yes, I do agree that should be disclosed so I am sharing a picture. But keep in mind this is an authentic building and an authentic neighborhood. Youā€™re not in your homeland. So you should expect things to be a little different. Maybe this is an original stairwell and to them in the Netherlands itā€™s ā€œnormal ā€œ. But if you were elderly or have massive amounts of luggage and weak; this might not be the place for you. We enjoyed the authenticity of it. Nice bathroom and basic kitchen so itā€™s not a place youā€™re gonna cook gourmet meals. There are great little restaurants within a five minute walk. And the grocery store is 7 to 10 minute walk. Enjoy the authenticity of having the opportunity to ā€œliveā€in a unique part of the world. It is special-we would definitely return.
Stairwell -remember this is an authentic house typical of the neighborhood and the country. Embrace it. šŸ˜ƒ

Place was within an easy bus ride of Central Station and even a walkable distance.Emmy gave us great directions and was there greet us and help us get our luggage up the very steep stairs.We loved the neighborhood- very quiet and felt like locals. Emmy had lots of suggestions for groceries, cafes and pubs. 5 minute walk to Haarlemmerplein Square which has lots of stores and bus/tram connections.Only minor complaint is no a/c and was very warm in the apartment.

Emmy is a delight

Emmyā€™s 1st floor (which means upstairs in Europe) met our needs and enabled us to walk to most things of interest. It is on a nice quiet street in a quiet neighborhood. Emmy kindly pointed out where to find what and how to operate various things in the apartment. The layout required going through the bathroom to access the bedroom, which meant privacy had to be pre-arranged. The afore-mentioned stairs were tricky for the eldest guest, but Emmy was helpful in getting the bags up and down. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Appartement coquet petit mais confortable. Proche du centre et de la gare centrale avec un arrĆŖt de bus pas trop loin.Le quartier est trĆØs calme. j'ai moins aimĆ© ;Les escaliers sont trĆØs raides et le robinet de la salle de bain qui ne coule pas beaucoup.douche glissante il manque un tapis antidĆ©rapant. pas de clĆ© pour fermer l'appartement on ne peux fermer que la porte de la salle Ć  manger.Nous avons passĆ©s un trĆØs bon sĆ©jour.

Nous avons beaucoup apprĆ©ciĆ© notre sĆ©jour dans l'appartement d'Emy. A la fois proche du centre mais Ć  l'Ć©cart de l'effervescence du centre ville. Tout est facilement accessible grĆ¢ce aux transports qui passent au bout de l'Ć®le. De nombreux sites sont accessibles en une trentaine de minutes Ć  pied. First the place is very clean. The place is about 5 to 10 minutes walk to the center of city. Tons of shopping and restaurants.Second...it says it's on the first floor. In Amsterdam the first floor is actually the second floor. Very steep stairs. If your older this will probably Not workWe had issues with the heat. Emmy kept telling us it was on but it wasn't. After three days she turned it up.

A very pleasant stay

The apartment suited our needs perfectly and we enjoyed an evening walk and a meal in a bar in the local area. Great position for walking in to the centre and a tram back at night.

Jordaan - Great Location

My daughter and I had never been to Amsterdam so we chose well with the location of our apartment - just outside the very busy areas and two bus stops from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Served by trams and buses we easily connected to everywhere and we could walk if we had the energy. The apartment is small but adequate. We could see our street from our canal cruise at one point, so it was an ideal location.

Perfect location! Wonderful host!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Emmyā€™s place in the Jordaan! The apartment had everything that we needed to feel at home for the week. Our friends, who joined us during this vacation, were able to stay in the apartment on the ground floor of her building. So, it was the perfect setup for us. It was close to a bus and tram stop, as well as a grocery store, which made it super convenient. The area is beautiful and our host, Emmy, was kind and helpful! We had a fantastic week being back in the city that had been our home for 5 years!
