Lake Hills Hideaway on Kerr Scott Lake in Wilkes County, NC, exceeded our expectations and was even more impressive than the photos suggest.Since we were looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by the lake and forest, we planned to prepare most of our meals onsite. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped and quickly became one of my favorite features of the home. It included a Ninja drip coffee maker (cone-filter style) in a charming coffee station, quality Cuisinart cookware, a large stockpot perfect for a batch of chili, and a beautifully restored red gas stove and oven that worked flawlessly. There were also plenty of dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, utensils, and serving pieces, making meal preparation easy and enjoyable. We spent our evenings sipping hot toddies on the screened porch and gathering around the wood-burning fire pit on the deck. The beds were extremely comfortable, with crisp, well-fitted sheets, and extra pillows were easy to find. What stood out most was the peace and serenity of the property. It was wonderfully quiet, allowing us to fully enjoy the natural surroundings. The towns of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro have many unique and interesting things to do, see, and eat. One of our favorites for down-home Southern cooking is Brushy Mountain BBQ.Overall, I would give Lake Hills Hideaway a 10/10. We enjoyed our stay so much that we're already hoping to return next summer with our children and grandchildren.
