Welcome to The Bunkhouse—where laid-back comfort meets natural beauty and casual chic. This light-filled single-level retreat offers garden and valley views from nearly every room. Set on a spacious private property in the Mill Valley hills with easy Hwy 1 access, it’s just minutes from vibrant restaurants and shops, Muir Woods, coastal trails, beaches, and a short, scenic drive to San Francisco. Perfect for unwinding, connecting, and exploring nature & city delights.
The space
Step into the open-concept living and dining area, where dual sets of oversized French glass doors frame sweeping valley views opening onto a private patio. Tastefully appointed with comfortable furnishings and locally sourced artwork, the space invites relaxation—whether you’re watching the fog roll in from the couch or stepping outside to enjoy the natural surroundings. The main living room has no TV, but includes a piano for your use.
Each bedroom offers its own Roku TV for private entertainment. 500 Mbps high-speed internet for heavy usage and multiple devices.
Sleeping arrangements includes 4 bedrooms total:
• Queen suite with private sitting area
• Queen bedroom
• King bedroom
• Bunk room with bunk beds, bean bag chairs, books, and games — ideal for families
• Living room pullout couch — works for an extra guest as a flexible option in a pinch
Bathrooms:
• Classic clawfoot tub bathroom
• Shower bathroom with high-efficiency washer/dryer
• Outdoor shower bathroom—perfect for rinsing off after beach surf
Kitchen:
Compact yet fully equipped for casual cooking, featuring new KitchenAid gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and a granite rolling cart for extra prep space and plated service assistance.
Includes two coffee makers, Vitamix blender, toaster, kettle, full cookware, and basic spices & condiments.
Outside Patio:
Expansive outdoor patio features a handcrafted dining table, Adirondack chairs, cushioned lounge seating, several sun umbrellas, and a cozy table fireplace—ideal for memorable evenings under the stars. Nature lovers will enjoy frequent sightings of deer, wild turkeys, hawks, and blue herons right on the property.
Easy Accessibility: The Bunkhouse is completely step-free and all on one level. With plenty of parking right out front, you’ll never have to worry about finding a spot. No stairs!
Please note that this is a guest house — not a full-service home — but it offers all the essentials for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The Bunkhouse offers a unique blend of relaxed style, natural surroundings, and easy access to the best of Marin and San Francisco.
Guest access
Feel free to relax and make yourself at home at The Bunkhouse and patio area. We kindly ask that guests respect the privacy of others by not exploring the additional cottages on the property.
Other things to note
Other Things to Note
Property & Setting
The Bunkhouse sits on a spacious, historic property that was once a dairy farm dating back to the late 1800s — a rare find in Mill Valley, especially so close to San Francisco. You’ll notice several cottages on the land, including your hosts’ private residence nearby should you need anything during your stay.
If you need additional space, ask about The Cottage, another listing located on the upper level of the property. With lovely views and room for four more guests, it can be booked together with The Bunkhouse (based on availability) — perfect for families or groups traveling together.
Access & Parking
• The Bunkhouse is single-level with no steps, offering easy access.
• Parking for multiple cars is available directly in front of the home.
• Access is via a gravel driveway, which can be a little uneven. Because outdoor lighting is limited at night, we recommend arriving before dark when possible.
• Street parking is also available at the top of the property if preferred.
Note: From time to time, staff may access the lower property near the beekeeping area/sports shack. This means a car may occasionally drive by and gear may be packed. It’s not common, and thanks to the size of the property, it generally goes unnoticed.
Comfort & Climate
The Bunkhouse has been recently remodeled with energy-efficient HVAC heat pump systems in the living room and two bedrooms. Fans and space heaters are also available upon request for extra comfort and for one bedroom if needed.
Cell service may be spotty inside the home, so you may need to move around to find the best reception.
Organic Property & Surroundings
We proudly maintain the property organically — no harmful pesticides are used, indoors or out. This helps protect the land, the pollinators, and your health during your stay.
• A beekeeping apiary is nearby; you may also see gardeners tending the grounds.
• A beautiful grove of eucalyptus trees surrounds the home and naturally sheds leaves. While we do our best to keep the decks and furniture clear, please expect a little leaf debris as part of the natural setting.
Inside the Bunkhouse
• Bedrooms feature cozy beds with goose down duvets and pillows (hypoallergenic pillows available on request).
• A main entryway closet is available for hanging items; bedrooms have bureaus rather than full closets.
Guidelines & Rules
• Maximum occupancy: 8 guests.
• No parties, gatherings, or unregistered guests.
• Children over 1 year old count as guests.
• No smoking or vaping within 250 feet of the property.
• No open flames except for the designated outdoor fireplace table (no candles, BBQs, or other fire-related items).
• No glitter or stickers indoors.
• No nudity in shared outdoor spaces.
• No amplified music; quiet hours are 9:00 pm – 10:00 am.
• Host is not responsible for local power or internet outages.
* Audio and video surveillance is in use at the front door.
Noise Note
The property is close to Highway One, so you may hear some light traffic noise — especially on weekends. Evenings are generally much quieter.
