Strap on your boots—you’re in the snowbelt! Hop on your snowmobile and ride directly out the door onto the Blue Bear Trail, no trailering required. Prefer skiing? Hanson Hills is nearby for downhill runs, cross-country trails, and tubing. Afterward, warm up by the cozy gas fireplace with a cup of cocoa—the perfect ending to a snowy day. Not too far from Boyne Mountain either.
Summer on the Lakes
In summer, the water calls. Across the street, Cub Lake is perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming with the boat launch steps away. Hi! We’re Maggie and Darin, Metro Detroit transplants who fell in love with Kalkaska over 20 years ago. What started as a weekend retreat quickly became our family’s sanctuary, and we’re so excited to share a little piece of that with you.

We chose this property because it offers the best of both worlds: peace and quiet tucked away in nature, but still close to everything Northern Michigan has to offer. Out the door, you’ll find snowmobile trails winding through the woods, and just a short drive away are some of the most beautiful lakes in the state—perfect for boating, fishing, or simply taking in the views.
When you’re ready for a bit more action, you can head into town to enjoy a delicious Michigan craft beer, explore the local shops, or venture a little further to Traverse City or Petoskey for even more dining, entertainment, and seasonal festivals.
