Bottom Line Up Front: The next time I return to Richmond, my first choice will be to book The Charleston. What a lovely place! When I travel for concerts (something I do quite often as my preferred method of resetting/disconnecting), I always like to find a VRBO that's convenient to the venue so that I don't have to deal with driving around an unfamiliar city. Sometimes, I find an absolute gem of a place that makes we want to make plans to come back and see more shows there, and The Charleston certainly fits neatly into that category. While I do have my gripes about Allianz Amphitheatre, it's a genuinely delightful venue, and if I could stay at The Charleston again, I would leap at the chance to see more bands play at Allianz. The Charleston was clean, quiet, convenient, comfortable, and just a beautiful little apartment. The host was wonderfully communicative and responsive. Something else to mention: I stay in a lot of places that are nice enough, but that I wouldn't recommend for single women travelling alone. The Charleston felt incredibly safe and secure. A code-locked door on the street leads to a foyer and staircase that delivers you to another code-locked door for the apartment. While I certainly didn't feel that downtown Richmond was dangerous, that extra security was indeed comforting.
